One number for your wife, another for the mistress. There is a market for that.

When I sold cell phones, you'd be surprised how many people came in stressing that their new line "absolutely can't be tied to my current phone bill, and needs to be sent to XXX address." In some cases they flat out said they were leaving their spouse....in others in was much more *nudge nudge, wink wink.* This was also mostly in the days of pre-smart phones and data based calling plans....much cheaper to get away with then without sims.

Should be expandable STORAGE instead. Better yet, make it the way samsung did with one of the sim slots to also act as expandable storage. WHY the hell is Apple so stupid with NOT offering expandable storage?

Because its insecure and slow. No thank you.

I doubt it . This is not a feature the masses need nor want.

Dual sim phones are very popular in developing markets, many people rely on several numbers, for business/personal, or as a backup using different carriers. ....Apple is just entering India right? Connect the dots...

Dual SIM would require an almost entirely revamped OS to support it. And needless to mention that dual SIM has significant impact on battery life.

I can't foresee Apple ever adding this feature to the iPhone. No chance whatsoever.

The impact on dual-sim use isn't that drastic, maybe 20% battery hit. Not really an issue, powerpacks are cheap.

Depending on how serious they are about enterprise, they may offer a phone with two SIM card slots.

Many large international companies are now finally handing out smartphones (hey better late than never!), and many employees hate having to carry two smartphones (one personal, one work).

The prospect of not having a personal mobile number anymore is also not very attractive (I.e. Ditching the personal phone as soon you get a smartphone from work).

Maybe Apple would offer it at as premium option?

Untill Apple puts it there... and then all of sudden is amazing, efficient, great, suitable, cheap... OMG Apple did it again (head explodes). SD cards are great, don't lie to yourself.

No because they would never put this in their phone. If they could find a way to make it more secure and faster then maybe but i highly doubt it.

Dual sim phones are a niche product. And no, nowhere near as popular as the flagship phones from android or apple.

You can get the latest iPhone sand Samsung phones in India.

We will get dual sim iPhones at the same time when we get micro sd expansion slots....which are Very Very Very popular everywhere in the world!!

The dots are not aligned as you believe.....

A 20% hit is massive!! This this apple we are talking about.

Yeah, apple users want to carry a powerpack accessory about.... Sounds like a Samsung is perfect for you, dual sim, micro sd, and you can carry spare batteries around. Apple users down want "that" convience

A better idea would be to get rid of SIM cards completely before there is an entrenched enough business base that would lobby for regulation to prevent it. SIM cards, like cable set top boxes, need to go away. They are both impediments to free market control of product costs. Fortunately, there are rumors that Apple and other hardware providers are working to implement e-SIM technology to facilitate portability across provider networks not just nationally but internationally were cost levels are particularly punitive.

not very usable for the USA market, but in most of the world...EU, Asia etc, you need to have multiple sim cards if you travel from country...If you live in Italy but go to Holland or Germany or France etc you need a different card to avoid international charges. Can you imagine having to use a different sim card every time you go in another state....? for these countries it is a reality that they deal with often so for them it make sense.

I supposed you are right, masses don't want this. Nervertheless It's always good to have alternative and options; something that Apple users don't have too frequently. I personally will benefit from this. I'm currently using Skype for this purpose.

Heck, I'd love it. its jsut an unclean solution for apple . They would prefer you to buy two phones to be honest , if you need two numbers .

Only the iPad Pro has USB 3 support.

Do tell for what applications is micro sd too slow on an iPhone, and how is it insecure ? Apple would never allow you restore personal data on it.

That could make me switch to iOS. It has been increasingly hard to get my hands on premium dual SIM Android flagships because of carrier interference, and Apple would undoubtly shatter this barrier.

People in the US wouldn't understand this, but elsewhere, users have been accustomed to having 2 SIMs.
You are wright about a premium handset with dual SIM capability. Before reading this, I wanted to buy an Android phone(Xiaomi, OnePlus, etc.) just to have this feature. I guess many people voiced in their options and Apple may have listened loudly.

Would get around my issue of having 2 sims, one for going abroad (on 3) and my EE one for my main number.

Would be nice to have two sims to get best coverage in different area in US or abroad. It isn't that hard to switch a sim if the phone is unlocked....this really doesn't seem like something Apple would do.....Droid phones have had dual sims for a long time.

Whoa! While I don't really expect this to be true, I'd buy the iPhone 7 in a heartbeat if it were. I'm tired of all the BS that's associated with having two lines (work and personal, the usual stuff) and would prefer carrying just one phone anywhere I go. Depending on the implementation it could even save me some money as my work SIM also has LTE nowadays, so I could maybe even downgrade my personal SIM to have a slower data connection and rely on the work SIM's LTE for data use.

Too bad I'm quite certain that we won't be seeing this functionality in an iPhone, but having it there would be a definite "Shut up and take my money!" moment for me.

For people who travel a lot between countries, dual SIM support is an AMAZING feature!!!!

I am furious about the rumors surrounding the potential loss of the 3.5mm audio port, but if the iPhone 7 actually supported dual SIMs, even my anger at the loss of the audio port would quickly subside.

With dual SIM cards, would you be able to have two different local phone numbers working at the same time then?
