SE is a great value. Screen quality isn't as good (contrast, clarity, color) but is still a good "Retina" display. The A9 chip with 2GB of RAM is FAST. Touch ID, though gen 1, is fast with A9. The 7 costs more (potentially 2x as much), but is larger, better screen, 50% faster A10, better speakers, water resistant, better camera.
It depends on what you value most and how much you want to spend. I have an SE and love it. I'm tempted by the 7, but the SE has no super faults so I'll wait for next year.
