It depends on what you want.

SE is a great value. Screen quality isn't as good (contrast, clarity, color) but is still a good "Retina" display. The A9 chip with 2GB of RAM is FAST. Touch ID, though gen 1, is fast with A9. The 7 costs more (potentially 2x as much), but is larger, better screen, 50% faster A10, better speakers, water resistant, better camera.

It depends on what you value most and how much you want to spend. I have an SE and love it. I'm tempted by the 7, but the SE has no super faults so I'll wait for next year.

SE is compact, light, and has a headphone jack (if you care). The 7 is the cutting edge tech. You'll have to weight the Pros and Cons.

My wife has a 6S which I've used plenty of times. I just bought an SE. I use it mostly as a phone and music player. Don't care for or need the size of the 4.7" models.

A10 is 40% faster on the 7. With a smaller screen(lower resolution) on iPhone SE,the gains would be a bit lower than that.

I am returning the 7 . I love my SE which I got as a backup but it has become my primary phone after I sold my 6S and now I love it so much that 7 doesn't appeal me at all. SE is handy, fast and I have been getting 35-36 hours of standby with 10+ hours of usage time on almost every charge.

I knew I wanted a SE when it was announced, just can't stand the new fat phones, but not being in a hurry, waited to see what 7 can come out with, what must-have features, then found really nothing, no earth shattering, no wow, and well SE cheaper by $50 so I just got one Gold SE. Was really weary of missing TouchID v2, but v1 still faster than doing the old finger swipe.

Am totally convinced by now, after 5 years, Jonny Ive can't design super wow stuff without Jobs' aura, or he's simply too rich and not hungry enough, and/or without Jobs, Apple's management simply isn't doing those crazy things Jobs used to do like insisting the NeXT box be a perfect cube even though it was harder to manufacture. Have anybody here disassembled an iPod Mini? Holly crap, only a madman like jobs with his super attention to detail and the power to insist it be made from a single hunk of seamless aluminum. Frankly I think we can only expect incremental stuff from Apple in the future :(

I have the SE. Wonderful device. - I would definitely recommend it.

With iOS 10 it's even faster with the new animation speed. Can't go wrong for the value. I'm planning to upgrade to the new iPhone next year. Hoping for an all glass design without a home button.

Crazy, just got back from the Apple store after checking out the new 7, having just switched the day of the keynote from a 6 to an SE. After just 1.5 weeks of using the SE, the 7 felt comically large.

Amazing how quickly we adjust.

SE.

That being said, I have the SE now and going to try the 7+ to see if I like the bigger screen and try out the new camera. I also have the 6 at home, so don't see much value in trying the regular 7.

Been using them both side by side the last few weeks (within 14 day return period), and I am going to keep the SE. I have adjusted to the small size again, and I do no think I will ever own a larger phone. The only thing the 7 has over the SE, IMO, is the screen. Obviously it is much better than the SE screen. Everything else is a win for the SE.

I'm really impressed with my SE. It does everything I need and the price point imo is unbeatable. Like you said, you can use the SE free right now and in 18 months opt for the upgrade.

I really enjoy being able to have a phone in my back pocket and run around town doing errands. I don't need to carry my phone in my hand, or carry a handbag to carry my phone. :);):)

had a 7 returned for 7+

loving 7+ and SE combo

perfect for me

9.3.3 is what my SE is still on , tweaked out. Great great device. sublime to hold

SE is an awesome phone. Performance/price ratio, I believe it's the best iPhone ever. I may buy one just for the hell of it even though I'm using my 6S+ since returning my crap 7+. Using the SE in the stores I have noticed zero lag or stutter in the animations, the ONLY iPhone I've never witnessed lag in.

What was wrong with your 7plus out of curiosity ?

Having owned a 6S I now have an SE. Still blazing fast but battery life has almost doubled! I prefer the smaller size of 4"- the 6S was too big for my pocket.

Judging from the comments in this thread, the SE has the potential to cannibalize sales of iPhones models 6/7 o_O
That said I hope Apple will keep the 4" size on next gen phones.

I really hope they keep it around. Using the SE for the last year and then changing to the 7 made me realize how much better the 4" is

I'm torn between ordering 7 128gb for $300 or SE 64 gb for free. Leaning SE. Bigger screen would be cool but if I'll have another upgrade in 18 months I'll get a newly designed one then. Some 7 features and the large screen would be nice but $300 for 18 - 24 months nice ? Hmm. Also I don't really like the feel of the 6/6s.
[doublepost=1473716973][/doublepost]halp me decide, fans.
What carrier are you on, Sprint?

Who gives 18 month upgrades any more?

No lag in my 6s or my 7.

I hope Apple reads this thread. It's unfair that the only way we can get the best cameras, ram & speakers is to get a phone that is uncomfortably large. I'm a fan but that won't stop me from observing this is probably a profit-driven decision to encourage people to buy higher in the value/profit chain. And yet it goes against Apple's credo of providing the best customer experience possible.

LOL! This is so funny to read. Jobs took credit for other's work.

I think the iPSE sold well and consequently you may see flagship hardware in the iPSE maybe not this spring but next spring. But there are limits with the camera if the phone is that small.

The SE is my favourite phone that I've ever owned. I moved to it from a 6S just two weeks ago and now that I've adjusted to the smaller screen size again, everything else feels comically large. The battery life and speed of this thing is more than I can ever ask for.

It actually feels like the first iPhone that I've owned that actually meets my needs in terms of battery life, performance and portability.

The only gripe I have is that I wish it was offered in a 128gb variant, it would then be the perfect phone for me (not that it isn't already).

Another happy SE owner here. Great phone at a reasonable price. Love the fact that it's not a ridiculous thing in my pocket, love the battery life, and love the size.

And to those citing the on-paper speed increase of the 7, go check out usage comparisons. The SE matches or even beats the 7 in some cases.

I see lag in all iPhones I've used up to an SE. I've seen it on at least a dozen iPhones in the family since the 3G. It's the nature of the beast. The overwhelming positive for the SE is battery life. It's incredible. Yesterday I was on gps for over 5 hours, no wifi the entire day, 73% remaining once I got home. Another plus is the placement of the on/off button. Far more natural and simpler to operate without changing volume or snapping an unintended pic.

Size is a personal matter. Having dropped my wife's 6 last week, I know I made the right choice with the SE.
