Hey bud, I agree with you. When I first got my ip7 the battery was draining roughly 20% overnight with nothing open/on etc. I changed the weather location services to NEVER and the next morning I woke up with 100%. Has been like this since. Plus in the day it does't randomly drain either.

I advise anyone else who's losing battery over night to change the weather location services in settings to NEVER. Or even delete the app since it's mainly wrong anyway Lol.

I just tried this and can't wait to see my results tonight. Standby battery life being poor has been an issue of mine for quite a while.

I've never experienced this with my 7plus. I have had it get really hot and start draining. I just shut it off and back on once it cools.... kill all apps and it's usually fine.

Hi, I have read the whole thread, but I don't understand if my drain is normal, mine drain about 8% during night with Wifi and cellular network (no data), it seems to much, don't you?

Signal strength, background app refreshes, push/fetch emails, use location on/off....

There are so many factors and settings that every phone has enabled/disabled, that you would have to diagnose and find out what drains your battery that isn't listed in the battery usage meters.

4/5 signal, only 4 apps in background, no push, no location

What happens in airplane mode? If you charge to 100%, put it in airplane mode and goes to sleep, after that does it still drain anything?

When I've done this before my battery even on my 4S back in 2012 lasted well over a week.
I still notice some drain but the weather location services certainly helps a lot. I notice if in poor reception areas the battery drains really fast as well (which is obviously already known).

By the way, airplane mode basically shuts off all antennas for data and signal (Bluetooth, wifi, cellular) and therefore basically no push notifications as well.

Airplane mode is strange, it seems to drain as fast as with wifi and data or more, I don't know why

Well, that's the thing. If someone have a significant drain even in airplane mode in a very small amount of time (like eight hours), than we KNOW FOR A FACT something is wrong.
This kind of diagnosis must be done with the exclusion of possibilities. Airplane mode and device reset (like factory reset) help to narrow it down a lot.

Hi nexus96, it seems you have a very real issue, I suggest you call apple. I was able to get them to replace my phone only when I asked them to leave it in airoplane mode overnight and check the battery charge after it.

Yes, it will be little but it will still drain the battery. Note that a battery will lose some charge even when the phone is shut off.
It's OK to have very little drain in airplane mode, but my phone used to lose 20 to 30% in one night in airplane mode, that's how I convinced Apple to replace it. That was already posted here.

Thanks for your advice Petry, for example this night, in airplane mode with wifi battery is dropped from 80 to 74%, while in the same time, my 4 years old Android phone (I have never changed battery) with airplane and wifi only lose 2%

Hi, I have tried and it switched from 100% to 99% with usage 15 min and standby 10 hours, it was only in airplane mode with all apps closed in background

2% vs 6% could just be a matter of how the battery life % is calculated too..

That is great to know! It could be a rogue app causing you the headache...

This night 14% in wifi+network, with no app open in background, while other days it seems to drain faster when it was in airplane mode than in normal mode. I cannot understand

Your situations are very peculiar, I'd take it in to Apple if it were my phones. Or resetting it on your own.

The moment I get a new phone I turn off all notification badges aside from the essential apps, I turn off background refresh and automatic updates and I also turn off anything that refreshes data like e-mail.

On power saving mode with the phone face down, I put the phone down last night the moment it switched from 69 to 68% and I woke up 6-7 hours later to 67%.

The overnight issues for you guys must be really annoying, hope you get it solved soon.

Annoying as it may be I also do the same. Too much going on in the background otherwise.

changed my background to black and battery life is better...not that it's not an issue. I always charge at night so it's hard to measure on overnight drain. It's normally anywhere from 7-12%

j wow That's crazy. And it helped the battery usage that much? Did you have dynamic background before?

Bright blue and it has seemed to of made a difference

My iPad is the same kind as well got 98 hours standby on my iPad Pro

Oh wow. Yeah my background is just a still picture but that is interesting. I will try changing mine and see the battery drain

It's worth giving it a shot but I know the phone is an LCD display and has to light the whole screen anyways. Plus my issue is in airplane mode and standby but I'm up for giving anything a shot.

Anybody else solve this? I have been talking with Apple Support and they tell me to setup an appointment to meet with them. I have restored the phone to new and still had the same 12% battery drain in standby overnight, in airplane mode.
