Would be cool if one of the lens/sensor arrays was used for IR (or UV) imaging.

I had kinda wished that something like the sensor pixel idea would be leveraged to embed IR pixels in the sensor. There are many useful and as Tim might say "interesting applications" for such a concept.

No no no no no no no. Just no. You put this in both the normal and plus-sized iPhone, and in ALL versions. You do NOT gimp an iPhone just because the screen is smaller or because you want to create a "premium" model. You've done the same with OIS being available only on the 6(S) Plus even though there's ample room in the 6(S) to do the same all because the Plus-models have a larger screen, and that's ********.
Agree with your sentiment, disagree with the reasons. The + is a bit thicker than the 4.7. (If they didn't fix that with the s)...

It's 2mm thicker. http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/specs/

Offer all potential buyers of a 6s, the option of a free upgrade to a 6s+ - I think you'll find at least 75% will say "yes please!"

Price is the number 1 factor why the 4.7inch is more popular. (granted some definitely prefer the size too)

I offered to get my wife a 6s+ but she really didn't want the larger phone so she went with a 6s. However, when she got it she immediately started looking for a Mophie case for it just to make sure she had extra battery capacity. The added cost and bulk of the Mophie nearly offset the additional cost of 6s+ and size of the 6s+

You're right. It's not a massive brick. It's a massive piece of Texas Toast. To this day I still laugh at dweebs holding them up to their ears.

A lot of 5.5" envy/hate here.

I used to think the Plus would be too massive, but I went from the 6 to the 6s Plus and I adapted to it in about a week. After that, I stopped feeling the negatives of the heavier weight and larger size - I handle it as naturally as I did the smaller iPhones. I love it. And now all smaller phones look too small to me.

Just because you opted for a smaller phone doesn't mean that all other options are terrible. But of course, that's human nature - bash the thing you didn't choose so that you feel better about your choice. That's true in all things - politics, tech, religion, movies, tv shows, music, sports... Doesn't it get tiring caring about what other people like?

Well said. I favor the 6s+ for both the larger screen and the extra battery capacity but I have never felt the urge to complain about smaller version. Same goes for the iPads. I am happy with my Air2 but I know some people prefer the mini and others prefer the pro. "Can't we all just get along"? :)

To that end, Kuo expects a 2-3x optical zoom function to feature in Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. However, owing to supply chain constraints on dual-camera modules, the KGI analyst expects the larger handset to come in single-camera and dual-camera versions.

Why would they do this? This would just further fragment the line, and I can't see Apple doing this honestly.

Would be more than happy to see anything end the protruding camera design flaw.

You haven't come around on that yet?? The iPhone 6 variants are way too slippery to be able to comfortably manage without a case anyway. The Plus' are particularly bad, because of the difficulty of getting a reasonable grip. My first iPhone (and I've had all case variants except the original), that I've actually used a case for the entire time I've owned it. With a case the bump disappears and allows a better camera to be in a thinner body.

I have to say i don't think Apple will lose the iPhone momentum, will it slow down? sure it will everything peaks, but more and more people have been switching from Android to an iPhone, this says a lot in itself.
As long as Apple keep on making great iPhone's then i don't see a problem a lot of people upgraded to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with the bigger screens this has helped them capture even more Android users.

As a photographer I'm looking forward to the new camera.

Yes, it will likely only be available on the larger iPhone. Which by the way, is perfect for me. Much easier to edit photos when out and about with a larger screen. And, the larger battery lasts two days - awesome. Fits fine in my jeans pocket, too.

I can understand why people with small/tiny hands would have issues.

As a consumer I agree. But from a corporate perspective all companies must have multiple differentiators between models to "encourage" customers to rationalize buying a more expensive model than planned. Hard for Apple to justify the extra $100 price tag of the plus for just a larger screen. At best that alone is a $50 bump. There has to be additional features or you get a lot of customers asking themselves if they want to buy it. It also forces some customers to buy up if they want a feature in the higher model that are conveniently excluded from the down model. Every company's strategy is to get the customer to a more expensive product or service package. That's how they grow revenue, especially when their biggest products are mature.

Thead carefully, Ming Chi. You've been burned before like when you said only the "premium" 6 Plus models would have a sapphire crystal display.

Then, of course, you cited "production issues".

How is going bankrupt not "production issues"?

I really doubt they offer a single and dual camera option for either model.
More then likely, the dual camera prototypes are for the new camera in a 7 style case for a future 7S release. Checking function, size, etc. and to of course make sure the dual camera is in fact better then a single camera.
Remember this is new tech so they are going to doing a ton of tests to make are it is right.

I don't see Apple bringing such a feature to just the Plus model. And no OIS is not a comparable example.

people are already paying a premium for an iphone, i was going to get an iphone 7 plus, now u tell me its gonna come in two version :( this sucks, talk about hardwarefragmentation. and let me guess, its gonna cost a 100$ more right :(

Although I am mighty excited to hear about this dual lens business, but I rather Apple install a super bright lens & a higher megapixel count. Many of the pics taken by iPhones are taken indoors with poor or minimal lighting. The faster lens will greatly help in such application. Either that or implement a better noise reduction algorithm. The higher megapixel count (with controlled noise) provides higher level of detail, and freedom of composition.
