Same issue here. iPhone 7 128Gb Black Verizon in NYC. Noticed dropped connection on both network and GPS while driving several times. Called support, reset network settings, problem persisted. Called support, restore factory settings, problem persisted. Will be taking it in to the store tomorrow to see what they say.

On a Verizon Business account through employer, so can't access the Voice HD feature through Verizon to test the proposed fix... :(

Got home a little bit ago, and just poking through the logs generated today... about 33mb of every single tower connection, data use, LTE tower registration, etc. If you run with telephony debugging profile enabled, it logs everything your phone did and where it was is logged. Pretty amazing stuff, and obviously scary as well. Anyone with this log knows everything I did today.

The following represents no facts... just some random interpretations of a data log.

In general, there are thousands of these lines... which look like a periodic "hey the data system is doing ok"

71092.214 DATA.QMIDriver:CMD: processDsdTlvDataSystemStatus: Data System status: Technology: k3GPP (0x0), rat value: kEX_3GPP_LTE (0x3), service option mask: k3GPP_LTE_FDD (0x1000), data mode: kLTE

Then a service option mask is logged as "??? (0x11000)"...

71695.838 DATA.QMIDriver:CMD: processDsdTlvDataSystemStatus: Data System status: Technology: k3GPP (0x0), rat value: kEX_3GPP_LTE (0x3), service option mask: ??? (0x11000), data mode: kLTE

There are only 2 of them from the full day. Still reading through and see how much I can derive/understand. The voice over LTE logs are pretty damn cool as well, tracking your phone's periodic registering and re-registering with the towers.

Other interesting things in this log, which may or may not be related... some sort of "am I roaming test", a "1X neighbor cell test", and some general periodic registrations:

69798.317 [I|57,101] roam.1: There is no allow CDMA in countries key in the carrier bundle
69798.317 [I|25] time: NITZ/CDMA time is available, not processing further

71697.009 [I|31+] cm: Did not find a 1X Neighbor Cell. So Serving Cell Ecio will be from Signal Strength.

70923.143 [I|61+] 5wi.SDM: handleRegisteredNetworkInfo_sync: RegisteredNetworkInfo = [kRatLTE, kLTE, kRegistrationStatusRegisteredHome, GSM: < Not Present >, UMTS: < Not Present >, TDSCDMA: < Not Present >, LTE: Index: 0, MCC: [311], MNC: [480], Band info: 0, Area code: 21505, Cell ID: 21621251, UARFCN: 0, PID: 0, Latitude: 0, Longitude: 0, Bandwidth: 0, CDMA 1x < Not Present >, EVDO: < Not Present >, HDR SubnetMask Length: --, Is home system: 1]

Anyway, right now it's just a whole bunch of raw data... but that's what I have to report tonight. The logs are for Apple... I'm just reading between the lines to pass the time.

Oh nice. I'm located South Denver. And yes, having issues like everyone else.

Funny my friend who bought a 7+ Verizon says he doesnt have the issue, and he is in wash park area... but I don't think he leaves the house lol. I haven't been up north since I bought the 7, but it's been crappy data service everywhere so far.

Cool I'm in South Denver too, Highlands Ranch/Lone Tree area. I haven't been north of Arapahoe road since I bought the 7, but it's been crappy data service everywhere so far.

I work in Meridian/Inverness and have issues around there. I've used ATT SIM and haven't had issues.

I'm having the same problems. iPhone 7, iOS 10.0.2 on Verizon in MA. I've shut off voice over LTE to see if that has any impact.

Have you been able to log a few drops already?

ok gentlemen, heres my report

Before the above fix - this was the rundown
  • over the past week on my drive home, I've only seen 2-3 dots of LTE throughout 95% of my drive
  • the other 5% was a mix of full LTE, No Service, 1x/3G
  • tracking from one tower to the next seemed to have no obvious effect in relation to signal dots
  • at least once or twice, I would drop to 3G or No Service
This was my 40 minute drive home tonight, after the fix

  • surface streets leading to the highway, phone refused to leave 2-3 dots of LTE, getting worried as this was status quo
  • hit the highway: phone properly tracked cell towers. as I approached them, signal went to full 5 dots of LTE
  • in between towers, it would drop to 3-4 dots of LTE
  • far stretches between towers, over long hills and heavy wooded areas, I saw 2-3 dots. it would go back to 4-5 as I approached the next cell site
  • places where my signal dropped to 3G/1x or No Service over the past few days, remained 4-5 dots of LTE
  • instances of 1x/3G: 0
  • instances of No Service: 0
  • 80% of the trip was spent at full 5 dots of LTE
  • 10% of the trip was spent at 3-4 dots (mostly right before hand off)
  • 10% of the trip was spent at 2 dots (far reaches in between)
  • 0% spent at 1 dot
My steps to perform the "fix"

  1. on the phone, turn off LTE voice. leave it as data only
  2. turn off wifi calling under the phone settings menu (probably doesn't matter but did it anyways)
  3. log into your My Verizon account and turn off the HD Voice add on. (Manage products and apps > Manage your products) > click remove from account
  4. wait the specified 15-30 mins
  5. reset network settings on the phone
  6. once its time, go back into the account and add HD Voice back onto the account.
  7. turn on LTE Voice/Data again in the phone settings menu
Ok folks, it seemed to work for me tonight. Lets pray this is it!!!!

SUPER HAPPY WITH THE FIX. WENT FROM 2 BARS/1X TO FULL BLAST LTE.

iv'e been with android since 2010.
i almost abandoned ship with the 7plus 256 matte and went back.

THANK GOD (and this forum) FOR THE FIX.!!!

There's something interesting with my trip to and from JFK airport last night. When I was in NJ, signal did not drop at all, but as soon as I entered Staten Island, it started intermittently dropping up until I get to the airport where it got worse, 4-5x in a span of 10-15 mins.

The drive back to NJ, same thing, dropped several times in Brooklyn and Staten Island, not in NJ at all.

I did the fix the other night.
It didn't solve anything.
With LTE Data Only, all is fine.
With LTE Voice & Data, lots of 3G and No Service.

Sure wish we could get some press coverage on this. Front page somewhere, with a link to this thread.

Same thing here;

With LTE Voice & Data, whenever I use mapping app goes to No Service and get stuck until I toggle airplane mode and close that app.

How could only be a software issue if it is only affecting some people in the same areas with iphones 7, iOS 10.0.2 and carrier update?

Had signal drop otw to work this morning. I wasn't using my phone (7+ 128gb Gold, VZW) but the bluetooth speaker it's connected suddenly said "no phone service" at an area where I am sure there's very good LTE signal. hopefully they're really working on a fix coz it sucks to not being able to fully rely on your phone when you need it the most!

Interesting update....

I'm a Verizon customer and have been experiencing the "no service" dropouts since getting my iPhone 7 on 9/16.

I've been in Toronto since Monday, roaming on Rogers (GSM network). In 3 days, I've yet to experience any dropouts at all when using Waze and Google Maps to navigate around town, etc. (which always seems to cause issues on Verizon).

Since Rogers is a GSM carrier and Verizon doesn't allow VoLTE when roaming on Rogers, the problem seems to be an issue with the way that the iPhone is interacting with Verizon's network vs. a hardware issue (as many have suspected).

Have you called Verizon and apple to let them know? This sounds like the data they need to prove that it's software and not a hardware issue.

Some people with the iPhone 6 or 6S have posted in this thread with issues too. It's not just isolated to the 7 models, so it's likely a software issue.

Apple Care are telling me it's likely Hardware as it's only a small quantity of the millions sold on launch day but I'm not convinced.
No shot. I've got new 7s showing up almost every other day in the office. Different production builds etc. They're all showing the same issues.

Yup, all these hardware swap outs (including myself) yielding the same results are saying otherwise. Apple has a tendency to downplay issues so I'm not surprised by their response and their usual "this is the first time I've ever heard of this issue".

I am on my second iPhone 7....unless those of us on this thread are extremely unlucky.....it's not going to be fixed with a replacement phone.

They don't know what the hell is wrong, settle in, this will be a long one. Most bothersome for me is the no talking with data connectivity without VoLTE(HD Voice)

I'm so close to taking the sim outta my iPhone 7+ & putting it in my house phone.

Don't forget to drill a headphone jack on your house phone while your at it.

I shut off Voice over LTE. I still saw drops from LTE down to 3G. Haven't seen the dreaded "No Signal" so far today....but it's still early.

The only way to expedite a fix is to get some press on this and have apple reply with a response

I'm giving them until next Wednesday then returning this phone

Everybody that's been in contact with Verizon said that, They're aware of the issue & are working on a fix for it with Apple.
