My tier 2 guy said he saw lots of similar complaints.
Just wanted to chime in that I'm having the same issue people are describing. Service jumps around from 3G to 1x to no service, particularly when I'm driving/using maps, which is kind of exactly when I need it to work quickly. I'm brand new to Verizon, too.
If a software update doesn't fix it this will get interesting...

The tier 2 guy said he hadn't heard of anyone else having any issues. I was so mad because obviously a ton of people are having this issue. I don't want to return the phone but it is super annoying.

Something interesting I'm sitting in my car at work and noticed I only had one dot and should be 4/5 in this area so I switched volte back on and now 5 dots haven't had volte on in a few days I'm thinking it just isn't switching bands and towers properly for whatever reason and when we switch the lte to and from data only and voice and data it reaquires the connection again and we get the correct tower/ band we should be on

So I don't think it has to do with volte specifically

Just wanted to add that I'm also having this problem, where my 7+ will go from LTE > 1x > 3G > LTE in areas where it should easily hold on to LTE. I'm coming from a Nexus 5X and S7 Edge which never had problems here switching like this does. I also went into field test mode and the signal reading at some points were -10 to -20dbM WORSE than what my previous Nexus 5X on the same band was.

I think this new antenna band placement might be the issue I used beta 10 since the 1st public beta on a 6s plus and never had these issues I'm starting to give up on the hope it's software

In our shop which is a metal building I looked at my phone and it said no service, I turned airplane mode on, then off and now I have the same 2 bar signal my iPhone 6 has! But it slowly drops off after about 5 minutes to 1 bar then nothing. I know this sounds crazy but sometimes it acts like the signal leaks away!

I had to actually hard reset my phone this morning to get service back, very very frustrating. I have to reset up all my apps, accounts etc. And ofcourse still have the dropping to 3g issue.

So enlighten us and tell us what is?

Keep bugging Verizon and Apple for updates on the issue.

Turn off VoLTE, Settings-Cellular-Cellular Data Options-Enable LTE - Select Data only.

This will fix the bouncing around issue but it disables HD Voice, talking while using data, and wifi calling.

Guys stop bothering replacing SIM cards, replacing the phone, wiping clean and resetting etc. nothing is going to help.

I completely agree. I have been monitoring this thread and several others on the same topic elsewhere. It is driving me nuts that the phones and Verizon service are so expensive and this is happening. All support people give the same canned answer about never hearing about the issue before.

My question to everyone, and I know no one will know for sure, do y'all truly believe there will be a fixed released sometime in the next month or so? I will do my best to wait it out but no acknowledgement of the issue worries me. It seems to be a software issue which gives me hope but is the board consesus that they are aware and will fix it or are they truly going to ignore it? If not I will unfortunately have to sell my phone and go back to 6s which I have no interest in but no point in having an expensive phone that doesn't work and sends me all my texts and messages late.

i'm on day 3 with my replacement phone and have had 0 signal drops.

So there are some people that got replacements and it works and some people don't have this problem at all. I am a total loss of what to do. I cant even return my phone to Verizon as I am past my 10 days.

Even with VoLTE off, my signal is still bouncing from LTE to No Service to 1x to 3G.. stays on 3G unless I toggle airplane mode on and off. Today is the last day I can return/exchange this phone... not sure what to do!!

EVERYONE - If you haven't yet called Apple, here's what I would recommend:

1. Call Apple iPhone Support @ 800-694-7466

2. Explain the issue and tell them that you'd like to talk to a senior advisor because the problem is widespread and you've already tried replacing your phone, etc. (basically, you need to get past having them walk you through a ton of useless troubleshooting steps). Tell them that the phone goes to "no service" for no reason and that you can reboot the phone in the exact same spot and then see several bars of LTE signal afterwards (this rules out the possibility that you are truly in an area with no service).

3. Discuss with the senior advisor and explain that there are tons of people having this issue (people on various forums, etc.) and that you would like them to send you a "profile" to install on your phone to log these signal dropouts. They sent me one to install, but not until after the case got escalated to an engineer who requested that the advisor reach out to me and have me install it.

4. Install the profile, recreate the problem and work with your advisor directly until the problem is fixed (they should schedule call-back times with you, etc.)

The more noise we can create the better! Get this on Apple's radar and make sure we are all providing them with the logs/data they need to determine a fix.

Yep, I just got off the phone with Apple, I have the profile on the phone, I will be trying to recreate the issue tomorrow.

Go call Apple!

Guys I think this might be a SIM issue my phone just lost all service and now says no SIM card installed, even when the SIM has not been touched and it is inside the phone like it should be!

I'm on my 3rd SIM, 2nd iPhone 7, it's not the sim.

Unfortunately for me 14 days is tomorrow and I don't have time to deal with them. For now my phone is working when you turn off voLTE, which is unacceptable solution, but I can deal with for now.

If you truly want to return your phone call Verizon, explain your situation, the issues you're having and chances are they'll work something out even if it means going a day or two over. I've done it before. That is if in fact you do want to return it.

Anyone know what happens if you return an iPhone that you got on IUP within 14 days? What happens to the loan?

Got a call back from Verizon support, nothing really new but they confirmed its a wide spread issue, and Apple and verizon are working to solve it.
