So your headphone jack was replaced with cosmetic holes, a bumper to cover those holes (inventing a problem, then solving a problem) and a glue. They could at least fit a micro headphone jack there.

Really impressed that we have all of these engineers on MacRumors offering their wisdom on the headphone jack. So many people on here are apparently capable of engineering the iPhone 7 with a headphone jack- I'm shocked that Apple doesn't start and end their employment search right here.

The cameras....

So here is an enhanced version ( + sharpness, + mid-tones ) of the photos from iFixit that shows the two cameras, top is the 28mm F1.8 camera with OIS ( gold contacts & corresponding "feet" on lens, wider exit area out of the chrome front plate for movement ) and the 56mm 2.8 camera that does not look like it has OIS, just a direct mount to the sensor and focus housing.

Both cameras have large rear elements that show how well they cover the sensor area of each array, the 56mm being slightly smaller than the 28mm. Now then...the sensors do look slightly different, but I can not really tell if one is smaller than the other, just the non-photo sensitive area of the 56mm 2.8 brighter like we normally see sensors in DSLRs, mirrorless, etc. If the 56mm 2.8 has OIS, I am just not seeing it so the facts will have to present them selves.

At least this will give folks something to pour over / talk about....

I think the iFixit guys may have spoken too soon about the optical stabilization. Read the comments on the iFixit page--people are disagreeing with their statement. I'm not an engineer, but you can see that the wide-angle lens has more circuitry and coils and things packed around the lens. Stuff that the tele lens lacks. ¯\(ツ)/¯

So someone should put a picture of a headphone jack rested where it should be and see if they really saved space.

7 Plus

It could have easily fit... If they would have used the 6S Plus taptic engine. I'm sure the normal 7 taptic engine is smaller too.

Honestly, at this point I don't really care. It's more of an annoying inconvenience more so than anything, but their reasoning is still kind of funny. They could have made it work, but they didn't want to.

iFixit is one of my favorite websites. They are always supremely comprehensive, informative, and professionally done. I relied on their guidance and tools to change my iP5 battery once. Worked perfectly with no surprises.

I always look forward to their teardowns of new products (Apple or otherwise). And I know many of you do too. Just trying to give them all the props they so much deserve.

wonder why the taptic engine becomes so much larger than in 6s+. All for a click-less home button?
