From what i have been reading Apple has not sold as many new 6s phones this new year, as they did last year. They say many did not upgrade for many reasons.
But some said they found not enough new in the 6s Apples to make it worth the upgrade.
Also it said other phone makers had new phones a lot cheaper then Apples, and this might have taken away some new buyers.
They say today everyone has a cell phone it's not the big deal it was a few years ago, so maybe Apple should get their prices more inline with many of the other phone makers, meaning lower prices for top quality phones.
Many things have quickly changed in the world, oil has lost a lot and many are out of work, this has to hit the pockets of many phone buyers.

Except "growth" wasn't mentioned at all in the post I replied to and quoted.

I didn't realize I had to spell it out. I said worst quarter of sales. Next time I'll spoon feed you and leave no room for interpretation so you don't get your knickers in a bunch. K?

A slowdown in growth doesn't mean worst quarter in sales though. Acceleration and speed are related but are still different.

If economic issues are hitting the pockets of many phone buyers, it would seem the third tier phone manufacturers should post a win. The tier 1 and tier 2 manufacturers should be seeing a downturn in their business.

Apple has a different model than other phone manufacturers as they have a huge support system built around their core businesses, and it would be surprising to see prices adjusted downward in any meaningful way.

Your attempt at mind reading is pretty off too. But, look, since you think you are so clever why scold me, a mere MR participant? You need to go for the "big boys," at say the New York Times ( http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/27/technology/apple-earnings-iphone-sales.html?_r=0 ) or Wall Street Journal ( http://www.wsj.com/articles/apple-reports-slowing-growth-in-iphone-sales-1453843920 ). Esp. those B-Section WSJ editors. They know crap about financials.

I wish it will be as bad as what your guys think, it will be easier to order my 7+ at 12am PST.
Let's keep it going on Apple growth reduce "rumor", after all, none of us has crystal ball?

I doubt this will be incentive enough for Apple to lower prices...The best thing to hope for is the price not to go up.

I had been using the same flip type phone for 14 years, before getting my first iPhone4 i had one year then because of a Sprint contract disagreement i went with a new provider and a Android type phone for one year. Now I am again using an iPhone6 i rent it by the Month, and it's doing everything i need it to do,and the battery life is great. So i just might keep using it if Apple does raise their iPhone prices higher for the 7 if it is a 7.

If Apple are removing the headphone jack and updating the headphones that come with the phone to wireless and also adding other new features and designs (the use of dual cameras, waterproofing and possibly sapphire screen) you can bet the price will increase. Of course these features are only rumours and my no even exist or make it into the iPhone 7 but I'm thinking Apple will increase the price.
Apple didn't increase the price when they added Siri. They didn't increase the price when they made a larger screen on the 5. They didn't increase the price when they added Touch ID. They didn't increase the price when they made a 4.7" iPhone. They didn't increase the price when they added 3D Touch. I don't see any reason why they'd increase the price on the iPhone 7. The iPhone is already one of the most expensive phones, and a price increase would make people more hesitant to buy it.

As much as i'd like an iphone i have never bought one purely because of cost. I don't know how people can justify spending over a grand (here in Australia) on a phone or even more on a 2 year plan.

Everyone knows that Apple is charging a premium for their phones yet people still buy them. If i was buying an imac or macbook, I can justify the cost through work, but I see phones like FMCG items. Especially with the pace of technology, the phone loses so much value in a short time.

In regards to iphone 7 pricing, it wouldn't surprise me if they cost more than the 6. Apple are greedy buggers.

I am leasing my iPhone6 at $25 US a Month on a 2 year contract with Sprint. I can then buy it at contract end for $200 US or just upgrade to a new phone.
I tried an Android Samsung phone and they are fairly well made, but i feel the Apple iPhones are better made with stronger materials. And Apple does a much better job of their security and upgrading their operating systems. In the long run my iPhone has worked better.

That's reasonable, but here in Australia, we get seriously ripped off.

Apple remains in control of a very successful marketing scheme. Nothing they might do will surprise me. A huge portion of their user base still believe the hype.

Very sorry to read this mate, seems there is many differences in pricing and taxs in many countries.
My Sprint 2 year contract runs $60 US a Month for unlimited text and data i also pay $12 US to insure the rented iPhone6 in case it get damaged. Then there are some taxs added along with the $25 rent of phone. Ends up around $107 US total a Month.

That hype is something that I even find myself buying into from time to time. I hate to admit it, but yes Apple has a lot of nostalgia (at least for me) and the 'hype train' is very hard to avoid. While I did buy Apple products because they truly worked best for me over the years, the hype and nostalgic 'aura' definitely played a big factor in my purchases. Marketing is one of their biggest strengths for sure!

I have two iPads a 2&4 also a Mac Book Pro tablet to sync iPads to it
also have a rented iPhone6.
I also have two Samsung tablets that i use mostly to store pictures on.
I have used Windows computers for years, and still have five of them two with Win10 the others Win7. I am trying to get used to using the Mac system, been trying for three years but it just is not to me as easy as using a Windows computer.

A huge portion of their user base is quite happy with their devices and services from the manufacturer, which likely plays into it all quite a bit.

Without any new information to suggest something else, the most likely conclusion at the moment is that the pricing will continue the way it's been going. If iPhone sales will slow down as expected in a way, it's possible something related to pricing might happen, but it's hard to say.

Agreed. I think it is most likely that Apple will keep the price the same.

I've said it before I'd like to be able to do what Apple has done. More power to them. They have a bunch of satisfied customers.

While this is true, there has been a rumour (obviously it could just be that and have no truth to it) that says Apple will release 2 versions of the iPhone 7 Plus, and one will be a more expensive model.

Now normally I wouldn't give that a second thought because it sounds so far from the truth, BUT the person who has said it is the very reliable Ming-Chi Kuo! Which does add a bit of weight behind the rumour. He could be wrong tho and Apple could just be testing 2 iPhone 7 Plus and choose which one will make it to launch, after all it won't be until September, but at this point I'm looking at the worse case scenario.

If Apple release a more powerful iPhone, especially improve the performance in new features, I think it will attract many users. I think the price will be $900-$1000.

Around the world prices will be adjusted up or down to account for changes in the exchange rate with the US dollar like normal. In the US prices will stay the same, although the 16GB could be discontinued so it would start at the current price of the 64GB.

I suspect that the next iPhone will start at $650, just like now. However, I also think that they might do the same with storage as with the iPad Pro. Have the base model at 32GB and a larger one at 128GB for $150 extra. So it will be $650 and $800 for the iPhone 7 and $750 and $900 for 7 Plus.

What about if there is a 256GB like the rumours have suggested, whether they are correct is a different matter.

Thinking about it there is another rumour that says Apple will add a "premium" iPhone 7 Plus to the range (possibly called the iPhone Pro or something) and it will have a dual camera, but what if it combined the rumours of the 256GB and the dual camera? So the entire range would go:

iPhone 6C 4"
iPhone 7 4.7"
iPhone 7 Plus 5.5"
iPhone 7 Pro (5.5", 256GB option and dual camera)
