According to many sources apple is removing the home button in favor of embedding this functionality into the OLED screen, or removing it all together in favor of retina detection, or a combination of both.

Yes, until an opinion is passed off as or implied as fact :)
Unfortunately seems to be prevalent.

That's not my belief. What I do believe is that like any other company, apple will have equipment failures. And apple fans who deny these failures really do a disservice to apple and its loyal customer base. What can be proven is that the touch disease issue exists. And that has only ever been my point.
I haven't seen anybody deny any company, even Apple, cant have an equipment failure. What's a recurring theme is that, somehow this is all rolled up into a profit motive, which is nothing that can be proven; hence hyperbole.

Agreed....everything is rumor until apple makes it official. However, we can always surmise from reliable sources what the next big thing will probably look like.

I can certainly see this as being probable if apple continues this trend of what appears to be profits over quality. That is not to say I am saying doom to apple or they are in a death spiral. Just seems to me that some of their choices looks to put profit before their loyal customer base. This of course plays into a matter of opinion.
