Where I am at, 8+ will retail at 1150 USD, but there are usual cash back offers from credit card companies to the tune of 160 USD. (all nos. inclusive of taxes). I would have loved 7+, but no cash-back offers there, and it will end up costing just 50 USD cheaper, with lesser storage.

My ideal phone would be iphone 8 with dual cameras. But after having owned a 6 for a while now, I really envy the 7+ camera capabilities.

On a separate note - Right now, iphone 8+ is near about the same price point as galaxy S8+. So I think iphone 8+ is priced well. I honestly don't get why x had to be priced so high. Just because of the display?

Not sure what the 'RRP' is for the S8+ but I've seen them here in the UK now for about £620.. iPhone 8+ starts at £799...

No need to get worked up over this. Whether you get the 8 or X. It is just a phone. After the newness wears off. Same ppl stressing over this phone, and when they will get it. Will be more worried about the next phone. In the grand scheme of things, it’s no big deal.

I own a 7 and considering going to the X or 8+ for the camera mainly. Still unsure about the faceID, so may just go with the 8+.

I have a 6. I really want the better camera. I'd go for the 8 plus.... But, I don't think I can handle the size. I'm going to try and order the X and hope that I get it a few weeks later. If shipping is an issue... I'll probably buy the 8 Plus.

Coupled with inferior camera, I think most will choose to stay with a Plus phone they already own or upgrade to X.

I'm in the exact same boat. I initially didn't want the X and was going to order a 8 but the larger screen of the X is a big selling point. I just don't like the fact it's Gen 1 phone and bugs will be there most likely.

And everyone's remembering that it's a "larger screen" but not a larger phone... right? Actually it's smaller than our current plus sized phones. Current plus sized phones are a 6.23 x 3.07 body - the X will be a 5.65 x 2.79 body. I'm surprised at how many people don't actually realize that. As if the pictures weren't obvious. The X is a smaller phone than 6+, 6S+, 7+, 8+. But bigger screen area. :).

Can't wait for mine! Bummed we have to wait another month to order. Let's just hope Apple makes enough so that those of us that stay up until 3 AM on the East Coast can receive them on November 3.

I agree about the bugs... but, I'm willing to risk the bugs for the smaller form factor. The Face ID doesn't really excite me, but neither did the thumb print at the beginning. I'm hoping that the Face ID will work pretty well. Plus, I'm optimistic that any true annoyances can be altered via settings or updates that Apple will eventually include. But, we'll see. Camera is most important to me, then time of wait, then size. I'll wait the extra month and a half and hope I get lucky with the X. It's also nice to know the inside specs and cameras are essentially the same in both the 8 Plus and the X.

Completely skipped out on the 7 generation so I think I'll jump in with a 8n Plus this time around — it is a pretty big upgrade from the 6s. The X seems nice but I don't like the notch nor do I want to be a beta tester for Face ID, especially with the potential concerns involving privacy and identity.

My thoughts exactly. It may be the way of the future, but I’m not a guinea pig. Touch ID is one thing as it added functionality to the home button. This removes it entirely. And yeah. About that notch...

Well I prefer a big screen and the 64GB on my 6S Plus are nearing the end. The iPhone 8 Plus with 256GB and Apple Care Plus is like 1250€, while the iPhone X is 1500€ in Germany. That is simply freaking expensive for both phones (especially considering that the Dollar/Euro rate has been like this for a while now), but if you are already willing to spend 1250€ you might as well spend 250€ more for a phone that is physical smaller, but has the same screen real estate.

Now the thing I really need to figure out is: do. I really need such an expensive phone or isn't a 128GB iPhone SE good enough. I mean with every iPhone that came out I thought: "Wow such a good camera, I could take pictures". Turns out I seldomly take pictures. And for that price I might as well just get a good compact camera.

i just hope apple made the sleep/wake button super robust as it looks like its going to be used more than what its for currently.

The problem with Samsung is that while they can have the highest of resolutions, not many Apps are developed to take advantage of it. Apple devices on the other hand will be embraced and developed for.

Samsung is not an innovator, they copy and they do it in every industry. The problem is they copy half ass and cut corners. Note 7 is one example, look at the front load washers as another example. If they aren't exploding, they are using plastic hinges around the doors where as if you go look at LG they use metal.

Have you ever wondered why Samsung always has deals a month or so after release that involve buy 1 get 1 free? Because they can't sale at the scale of Apple so they are hoping folks will get hooked with freebies.

Lastly, you are probably a paid astroturfer. Samsung has tons of bots that go site to site spewing the same old crap. Is the pay good? I should look at your post history to see if this is a trend.

wait until they ditch android and use their own Tizen OS.

I also believe that the naming convention kinda stops at X (10). I think going forward we will start seeing the X2, X3, and so on. I think the touch ID phone will be phased out after 9 or 9s. Off topic I know but figured I would share my thoughts.

Wide angle lenses seem identical but telephoto lens on 8 Plus is worse than X.

It's 1/3 stop slower (f/2.8 on 8 Plus, f/2.4 on X) and not optically stabilized.

They always have to leave best features for highest price point.

Yep.. you could be right. I think the S is gone as of now..

No 7S.

They're leaving themselves a little room for a 9 next year. And yes.. the X2.. or maybe they'll call it X squared (with the exponent).

This is the 10th anniversary. That's why the X.. and they're following convention from OS9 to OSX in the MAC World. Pretty predictable stuff.

This may be a silly question, but can you preorder online to pick the phone up in store? Or does it have to be delivered.

I preordered online to pick up in store last year and plan on doing that again this year. I'm sure the 8 will be relatively eas(ier) to find. The X launch will be chaotic.

My prediction is the 8 is not going to sell well but a certain type of person (like me) may be going for it.

I have a 6 I have had since launch day so an 8 or 8+ for someone in by boat is a pretty significant upgrade.

The X is nowhere near worth the price for me as all I'm getting is Face ID and the OLED screen for $300 more.

I have seen some suggesting to save money and get a 7 but I think I really want the wireless charging. If you have Qi wireless in your car or can access them at airports/cafes etc. it's a huge convenience.

I've got a 6S and I can't wait to upgrade to an 8. I agree that those with 7's, the 8 is not nearly as compelling, but the jump from the 6's is significant and I think Apple will be selling a lot of phones to those who skipped the 7.

Fingers crossed that the AT&T Corporate site will be selling 8's at midnight.. thats the only way my company will pay for it!

i am in the same boat as you and couldn't agree more! I plan to pre-order tonight via Verizon and hope for a delivery date on launch.

That is why the folks are waiting for this

The 4.7" is not going change until 2020! Apple is going milk it until sales dry up because it so profitable. Apple fanboys who buy the 4.7" size don't care much about technology like OLED, DDRLP4E RAM, screen resolution, etc... Same with the 5.5" model; however that is a less proftiable model. Then just think it cool to have the latest from Apple! So if I were Tim Cook; I do the same dam strategy too!
