Ok, that makes sense. Competition between OS's is good.
I think IOS 11 is going to change things. I like the current multitasking on Iphone, not sure the screen is big enough for split screen on a phone? I can see on the iPad.
I have a mixer app for the QSC mixer that I use with my band that I wish would allow true split screen on my iPad but thats Qsc not Apple.
I hear all the time from my friends that they are having problems with their android devices
especially as they get older...less and less support and updates.
My main reasons are all OS. android does not support the devices as long,
the APPS are not update as often, and the best apps are on IOS.
I'm glad android is there though, makes IOS and Iphone better.

If you want long term support, it' really Pixel or iOS. I feel like the Pixel is a victim of Samsung's success because Samsung has some features that Google had to implement, so it really comes down to features vs updates. I do have high hopes for iOS 12 to bridge the gap to the 2018 iPhones and Android in terms of software features.

Hardware and software together, the iPhone is too novel and elementary because they have the power of a A9, A10, or A11 processor and haven't done enough to maximize it. The iPad took a huge step with iOS 11 and is my favorite iOS device to use. But when it comes towards mobile phones, Apple has to step it up in terms of using big screens and maximizing productivity through split screen multitasking and making the iPhone in parity with the iPad.
Not sure they really do. I have a S8+ with split screen, and it just feels bad on a screen that small. I suppose they could add it as a feature, but I doubt many would use it. This discussion with you keeps taking different, strange turns. I think we can just agree to disagree.

Samsung supports all of their flagship devices for at least 3 years with guaranteed security updates and at least 2 major OS updates. I think that is long enough before technology starts to change again. Who wants to really keep a device more than 3 years unless they are stuck in a nursing home or remote island? I guess in reality non-techies don't care so I would recommend them to get a iPhone if they want to keep it for 4 or 5 years. Furthermore every feature is on the Samsung Experience UX before anyone else.

Also Google Pixel is still not a major player. Look at their sales so they should not be in any conversation yet. I have never seen one in public.

The 8 & 8+ are tempting but I’ve been running a 6+ since it’s launch - I’m happy to spend money but should I plumb for the 8 now and hold onto it for 2 years or wait for the X?

Why stand in a pointless line when you can get it delivered to your house/work on launch day?

Lines haven’t been a thing for Apple products in Australia for a couple of years tbh.

Split screen is very useful when you are doing browsing and watching a youtube video. Its also useful if you need to use your files app while also writing a email that may need you to attach a hard to find attachment. Messaging someone while still reading, browsing,or watching a YouTube video is another use for it. Changing music while not leaving your browser or messaging app is another good use too.

In retrospect, it can be used for various scenarios and it highly useful especially with the longer form factor of the S8 plus and note 8. There was a time when all smartphones had 3 to 3.5 inch displays and that was enough to do plenty of work on. Using split screen on a S8 plus or Note 8 gives you two screens with the effective 3 inch or more display size which is very useful and practical.

If you use it more, there would be no bad feelings. Stop ignoring it and create some use cases for it.

I think it did pretty well, given the specific difficulties in that shot. I doubt your human eye could have detected where the background guy's head ended and the girl's began-- mine couldn't. Yes, a human would have guessed where to put the line a little better; but all in all, pretty good for version 1.
No that picture is crap. I can see it.

"Martin added that even his high-end DSLR can't achieve the kind of exposure he achieved with the iPhone 8 Plus"

Details please? Or does he need a new "high-end DSLR"?

Does anyone know, what it the cost for replacing the 8, 8 Plus, and X displays should they crack? I would imagine that replacing the X display is a lot more expensive. What does Apple charge for its two-time replacements for each?
