I'm certainly in the above camp. I have been waiting enthisiasticaly for the launch because I'm getting to the point where I will need to replace my iPhone 5. The 8 is not the phone I've waited all this time for but $1829 (Oz prices) is just obscene for the X. Where are consumers like me supposed to go?

I am in the same boat more or less. I think from a product view the iPhone 8 should have the same design as iPhone X but with regular LED, just one phone lens and priced as it is right now. Then it would be a fresh design at a reasonable price point.

As it is right now I simply get nothing and keep using mine.

In Europe you need to pay at least 350Euro more for the X which basically only offers a larger screen or a smaller footprint depending on where you come from. For me not worth it. I get it - there is the new look to show it off but I am not that type or person.

I wouldn't be surprised if early upgrades are allowed.
 
Only issue for me this year is the pricing. I have to use 2 phones which at the moment are a 6 and a 7. My 6 has got to the point where it is bothering me and was looking forward to replacing it. I need one with 128gb and one with 32gb so it leaves me in an awkward position now for what to do.

I wanted to either get a discounted 7 to replace the 6, or replace the 7 with a new model and replace the 6 with the 7 i already have. But with the new pricing it forces me to get the 256gb model of either the x or the 8, or buy a 32gb 7 replacing the 6 at a price thats not justified (based in my place of residence, sim free or on carrier plan)

Hope that makes sense, its not like i can't afford the phones i just don't see the value in the higher pricing as i have to buy more storage than i actually need, not even a case of future proofing just don't need it right now and when i do a newer phone with more storage at a lower price will be available.

Its the first time I've watched a launch and gone meeh to the iPhones and more interested in the watch (which i never have had any interest in, although we have no cellular option here which puts that plan out of the window as well)

In the end i think i will end up with a 32gb 7 when the price drops a bit more as that will satisfy my needs right now and ill see what happens in 2018.

I don't see Apple leaving TouchID version 3 in the lab, after filing a patent and laboriously trying to include on the X only to give it up? I think it will show up, maybe as early as next year. What better major marquee update that gets attention for what will essentially be a 'S' model of the X can you think of?

I have a 5s - anything will be a great and noticeable upgrade. There's no 7s, and the X is overpriced and out of my budget for Apple toys.

The 8 will serve me plenty. Can't wait!

Preparing for shipment means nothing. It will sit in that status until it ships. If you have next day, it will ship Thursday. If standard ship it will ship Wednesday.

I am getting an 8+; there is a chance I may upgrade it to an X at the point when I can walk into a store and buy it without a line. Which I estimate will be around mid 2018.

I was shocked to see the software on the iPhone X to be exactly the same as iOS on the iPhone 8. What’s the point of al the extra space if the digital home button area of the phone does nothing with the added space?


I’ll wait for the iPhone 10S and that’s with the ability to upgrade this year. Just not worth it at this point

UPS my choice already shows the package as shipped. The Apple Watch is being shipped from China.

Thats great, but it starts early because of the distance. I will arrive at your local distribution center and sit.
 
So excited upgrading from an old standard size 6S to an 8 Plus. Its also been like 6 years since I've owned a dark coloured iPhone. iPhone 4 was the last black one I had. A nice change, as I've had Gold and silver colours for too long now.

It offers a lot more than that. Improved display, cameras, processor, …
