There are two possibilities really: People will happily keep using FaceId, or Apple will put a fingerprint sensor behind the screen within six months.

They would not do that until September next year. A refresh 6 months in, would seriously piss off people who paid over £1000 for a lemon .....

Trying phones has never been an issue previously. Many like myself have been through all this far too many times to not pre-order on the day, as

1. There is a no questions asked return policy for 14 days
2. Preorders slip so fast you are better of pre-ordering in the day to get your place in line and going to a store to try one, you can always cancel.

There is also a large group of people potentially who see the 8 as such a small upgrade over the 7 and see the x as too expensive .

I fell into this group, the 8 plus at £949 is not worth it for a 7S and x at £1150 crazy. I bought a mint 7 plus for £650 with Apple care (product red)

I just got priced out ..... seems I'm not the only one .

Let's be honest, most want the latest iPhone, hence the 8 is not selling, And the x could be too expansive , especially at 64 is too small for most

I liked the analysis here, but we actually don't know yet if the 8's are selling poorly. They may be selling exactly as Apple intended.

Nike+ Apple Watches never had a September 22 delivery date, was October 5th from the start.

Yes, ordered a Nike version and got the October 5th shipping date as well, anyone know why these are delayed compared to the non-Nike watches?

That's for the stainless steel with cellular. You can get the aluminum for $400 with cellular.

Aluminum is not durable enough plus it only has a glass screen. That version is a waste of money. For everyday use, stainless steel and crystal is the way to go. The porcelain watch looks nice but everything about that model is overpriced. Repair costs and Apple care are increased significantly for that version.

It was possible to easily switch between multiple Apple watches before cellular, now you'd have to have a plan on each watch or keep contacting your carrier every time you switch. When my watch was out for repair, I got an aluminum watch to use as a backup. It was inexpensive at the time it doubled as a way to have a second color. That watch is going to be practically useless now that there's a cellular version. I find that I need to keep a backup as Apple doesn't carry replacement watches in the store. Every time you have trouble with an Apple Watch, you have to send it out unlike an iPhone.

Telus in Canada is offering the iPhone 8 64GB at $430 or 256GB for $630 upfront on a 2 year plan - we've been longtime Telus customers and can keep our existing data plan. So this is a pretty good deal (I think...)

Any thoughts my fellow Canucks?

I would hesitate to call a phone design a lemon just because the next gen refines a feature on it.

If Apple puts back Touch ID after this push to replace it , I would argue the x is a failure . It would be like the iPod shuffle 3rd generation, that was a lemon, for useability issues

My opinion is that touchid is not coming back .

Yep, preparing to ship. Getting excited. This is the first one I've ever pre-ordered and received on the first day. Can't wait to retire my 6+. It's been a good phone, but is showing its age.

Why do we think that meeting demand equals a weak launch? I bought the iPhone 8+ and am not complaining that it will arrive on time. For all we know, this is going exactly according to plan.
[doublepost=1505658768][/doublepost]

Whether it is enough to upgrade is all dependent on your needs/desires. I have held onto my 5S for 4 years. It met my needs. Now it is time to upgrade.
[doublepost=1505658949][/doublepost]

I recommend you buy the 8+. I have a 5S and this is what I've been waiting for. You get the most refined 6-type model with the same chip/rear-camera as the X. The 8+ even has longer battery than the X. And is $250 less (due to increased AppleCare).
rear camera in 8+ isnt same as in X

Good point if they bring Touch ID back. I agree with you though: they aren't likely to do it and in a few years it will probably be refined enough that we all will be ready to buy a phone with it.

I checked the stats and they say they are the same. I cross-checked with an online search and it says the same too. Did I miss something? (I'm over 40 and male, so senility is a real possibility with me ;) )

Lucky people all around the world! I'm still stuck 4-5 weeks with my Sports GPS+LTE watch from German Apple Store - hope it gets shorter!

Based on your location (Czech) you do know that the Apple Watch LTE will only work in the country of purchase right? That means if you purchase it in Germany, it will only work there. Just an FYI

A day after Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and Apple Watch Series 3, the first orders have shifted to "preparing for shipment" ahead of a promised Friday, September 22 delivery date.

Apple began preparing Apple Watch Series 3 orders starting yesterday afternoon, while the order status of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus appears to have started changing this afternoon. Apple TV 4K orders have not yet updated to preparing for shipment, but that should happen soon.

Pre-orders for all three devices started at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, September 15. While some SIM-free and T-Mobile iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models sold out relatively early for home shipping, supplies of other devices have remained strong. It should be no problem to pop into an Apple Store on launch day and pick up an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus.

It may be more difficult to get one of the new Apple Watch Series 3 models with LTE connectivity, as several configurations did sell out and list shipment dates of a few weeks. In-store pickup is also unavailable for these models. Non-LTE models are, however, readily available.

Orders that have been updated to "preparing for shipment" status should begin officially shipping out over the course of the next day or two. The first orders will arrive on Friday, September 22, with customers in New Zealand and Australia being among the first to get their hands on the new devices.

Update: Apple TV 4K orders have now started shifting to Preparing for Shipment too.

My watch said preparing for shipping Friday evening! It was quite quick, actually surprised! Also ordered a wireless charger so I already will have it when I finally get the X

Also have to consider another combination: 8 isn't enough of an upgrade, and X is too expensive.

I'm hoping a lot are abstaining from upgrade in general this year. The high price of the X, the availability of the 8, the price dip of the 7, holding off on launch for more units to be made...maybe all of that might make it possible for an easier time at preorder/day 1.

I fit this bill. The iPhone X is too expensive, the iPhone 8 feels like not enough of an upgrade.

But then, most people I've spoken to react with "the iPhone X £1000?! How much is the iPhone 8?" "£700". "Oh, so the X isn't that much more expensive then".

Probably one of the weakest launches in recent history.

All iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models available in 1-2 weeks.

I predict the same situation that happened in 2016 where Tim Cook's pay was reduced due to lower than expected demand for the iPhone 6S.

I wonder if this will be a repeat of the 5C / 5S launch. Apple have underestimated how many people are going to buy the iPhone X, even priced at $999. Amazing, if true.

Ugh who cares when people will get their Iphone x the fact is you'll pre order and you'll get when they can ship it! First world problems! You have a phone already, lots don't... sorry not sorry! I'll pre order it on the morning of the 27th and will be happy when I receive it... until then I have a 7 plus which works just fine!

That seems high. I thought it was $229 for the 8 64GB with the major carriers?

X got dual ois, 8 got only oneof the lens stabilised

Despite the criticisms and claims that the X is the only valuable option,

I'm genuinely excited to get my iPhone 8! I still haven't decided if I'm getting the Watch though.
[doublepost=1505664338][/doublepost]I've had an Apple Watch since it first came out. I've never regretted buying it and I have a new one on the way. I think you'll enjoy it...

Obviously he knows that LTE works only in countries supported by Apple Watch. Sometimes only with one carrier in that particular country, but it doesn't mean that he can't use watch only with Bluetooth and WiFi in any country.

Maybe carriers in Czech Republic will support eSIM soon enough so he would be able to use this function there as well.

I stand corrected, thank you.

Per Business Insider: "Unlike the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X will have dual optical image stabilization on both the wide-angle and telephoto lenses on the back, which means photos and videos will be smoother and less blurry."

Not true, that applies for carrier activation, which I won't do in Germany. HW-wise it's fine as well as those countries share the model and LTE bands. Checked with Apple, there was a discussion yesterday.

Aluminum is sufficiently durable for many consumers. I have had my Series 2 Sport for a year and it shows very little wear. The glass is the same as in your phone, so that holds up very well too.
