Having bought iPhones yearly for the first half of their history and then every other year with the s models, all the glamour is gone. When this one quits I will look for something outside the Apple garden.
Sounds like a logical reaction when the company that leaded the tech world decided to merely milk it's loyal customersFor me it's just tech fatigue. I can't remember the last gadget I was actually excited about after decades of nonstop innovation and things that actually impacted my life or fundamentally changed perception of the world.
Home gaming systems, personal computers, VHS, CD players, CD burners, MiniDiscs, digital cameras, Palm/Handspring, early smart phones, iPods, Wifi, iPhones, connected home audio, drones.
I'm really not interested in most IoT offerings especially in light of recent leaks.
Call me a Luddite or a grumpy grandpa, but now I just want to make my existing tech last as long as possible. It's a sad commentary that the thing I'm most interested in is a better mesh wifi system for my house
Perhaps. I have been expecting something great for years now. Keep hearing about exciting things in the pipeline.Sounds like a logical reaction when the company that leaded the tech world decided to merely milk it's loyal customers
Are you confusing the global marketshare graph with the one for the UK?
Similar here.Perhaps. I have been expecting something great for years now. Keep hearing about exciting things in the pipeline.
But on the phone front, I'm certainly not bowled away by anything from Oppo, Samsung, Huawei, etc. they all just look like sad iPhone rip offs.
Currently using iPhone 6+, 6s+, and 7+. 7 definitely the best of the bunch but the differences are so slight I'm constantly picking up the wrong phone.
Of course the best answer is to counter with some ad-Homs or insults. Well done.Every sheep deserves a hug
Looking at the revenue by year since 2013 doesn't jive with this statement.Sounds like a logical reaction when the company that leaded the tech world decided to merely milk it's loyal customers
Totally agree. Apple is fragmenting their product line big time. Not just with iphones....but look at the Macbook and Macbook pros....the ports are different. There is no consistency in the product offerings. It was way cooler back when Apple just had ONE version of the iPhone (but in different storage capacities and with black and white options). Such simpler times! Now it's like they're trying to confuse their customers by having so many different versions... Ugh!
yeah soon it will be the same price for iphones and macbooks and macbook pros.....$1500 for 32 GBs storage, $1750 for 256.
And fwiw, people will pay the price. How many they sell at what price points will be interesting to know.Totally agree. Apple is fragmenting their product line big time. and fwiw....imagine....walking into an Apple store...how much is the new macbook? Starting at $1800...how much for the new iphone...starting at $1800....oh how much for the new imac? Starting at $1800.And fwiw, people will pay the price. How many they sell at what price points will be interesting to know.

I doubt that. With an edition model Apple could have a premium device that they could update every year along side the non-edition iPhone. With the profit margins. And once some one goes edition one year. They will keep upgrading to the new edition model. I'm curious to how many series 0 Apple watch edition owners updated to edition series 2.
But I could be wrong
Car manufacturers have primed the public on the concept of "premium". Personally I wouldn't leave Apple because they have a premium model. I would buy what I want (not need)Creating a "premium" device with all the cool features would mean the "normal" version would look mediocre which would only lead more people to move over to other devices. Let's face it, there aren't that many features they could afford to put only on the premium model without making the lower version seem really outdated these days. They're struggling as it is.
Raising the price from the current top model much further doesn't make sense. The best ones already cost 1,5 times as much as the competition without offering much in return. iOS was way ahead of the competition at some point, not so much these days.
I do hope they come up with something reasonable. It'd help if iPhone had a memory card slot instead of having to pay hundreds of dollars for extra memory to fit even some of your data on the device.

Well, Samsung isn't the only option in town that has micro SD cards. However, I assume you may mean "as one of the options", so I'd digress in that case. Yeah, for my first smartphone.. Samsung Galaxy s2, I would've liked a phone with more than 16 GB of internal storage. However, popping in a 64 GB uSD card alleviated a lot of space concerns, as 15 GB of photographs, video, and multimedia simply came from that.this is why samsung is a good option as 64GB of storage plus 256GB SD card is a good option
That's also what's been perturbing me the past few years... is that Samsung phones are right up there, in the $800-ish range, right alongside with the latest iPhones. TBF fair, both models are premium in their own right, and I don't doubt that they won't be worth it to some folks. To me, I just can't justify spending more than $300 for a phone, but I still want something with a decent feature set (so not going back to a dumb flip phone). A $220 used LG G4 has surprisingly far exceeded my expectations. Yet, it feels like a $650 phone. I bought a spare battery and spare battery charging case for $20, and assuming I don't break the phone, the 2 batteries should last me for enough years to come. Otherwise, I'll look into buying a new battery.I can afford it for a few more years until my daughter starts college. But that doesn't mean I will be comfortable walking around with something that costly and fragile. My iPhone 7 Plus 256 GB was really pushing it.
I really do make use of the 128-256 GB capacity so I am having to start opening my mind to the different options in the Android world that offer expandable SD storage or generous specs at lower costs like the OnePlus 3T and possibly the LG G6.
Even the Samsungs are starting to get too expensive, unless you get a good deal.
I'd hate to move away from iOS because it definitely has some advantages I'd miss. Fortunely Apple got it right on my 7 Plus and I'm finally happy with the camera enough that I feel comfortable keeping it for two years. Unlike the single year I allotted to the 6 Plus and 6S Plus. My 6Plus was a dud. My 6S Plus was almost perfect as a smart phone, but I was never satisfied with the camera. I am totally satisfied with the 7Plus camera and the phone itself.
I'd imagine some folks would like to come back. After all, the same fervor and passion that got folks to try out and stick with Apple is what's leading to these complaints. You really can't have one without the other. To all the people saying you want to quit the Apple ecosystem,
Don't tell me you will do it.
Just go ahead and do it.
You will be happier with a device which presumably better suits your needs, and we will all be better off with less whining here.
Well, as Apple wants to transform itself to a fashionable brand (where most of the fashion is last years), the name suits them.Such a dumb name. I'm sure lots of thought went into it.
What do you hate about your SE? Depending on which rumors turn out to be true, there still might be a worthy upgrade in 2017 that won't break the bank. Meanwhile what is keeping you from considering the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus? Initially the torrent of complaints about quality control issues scared me off, but we now have three iPhone 7 Pluses in the family and they are all identical in terms of quality and are good. I've been cautioned about troubles with Intel modems but our family got unlocked Qualcomm ones.hmmmmm, guess I'll give that 7S a miss f that is the case.
Hate my current SE though![]()
My point was that as smartphone sales in poorer countries represent a larger piece of the pie, Android is bound to increase its global marketshare. Thus, the fact that Apple's global market share is only slightly declining means that it actually is increasing its marketshare in some rich countries.Android in Europe has over 75% market share and iOS under 19%. Android is gaining market share while iOS has declining market share. This trend is alarming since in 2015 iOS had over 20% market share in Europe.
It did have it twice for a couple of minutes until I realised the error. Maybe some of that got cached for longer. Also the link at the bottom of the page (and thus below the UK chart) was for the global chart. I only posted one link, since the link to the UK chart was directly below the global chart on the page I linked to (and after I had perused that site for too long, I put up a force-signup window and I couldn't get to the UK chart page anymore to copy that link as well).Ah. Check your post. It might have the UK chart posted twice.
