This baby is going to be expensive.... Say $60-70/month on a payment plan in addition to your service....
In 2009, iOS was way behind Symbian and still clearly behind Blackberry as well. Between 2009 and 2016, the global iOS marketshare (on an annual basis) varied between 13.5 and 19.1%.
If a name excites you more than the merits of the product I think that says more about you. I've bought many great products which I can't even remember the name or it had some contrived number. I've also bought a lot of products with features that had cool names for 100% worthless features.
So are you a marketing fan or a tech fan? Genius features and styling get my attention, not names. Seems rather shallow to put that much stock in a product name.
We could speculate a lot about Ive (especially what he spent his time on in the last 4 years...), but not about his work !
The point of the name is to draw attention to a product.
Yes and no.
One would think, as you said, that someone who paid $1k for a phone would keep it longer.
However, the iPhone is a status symbol in many parts of the world, and you don't want to be seen with an "older" iPhone. Yearly upgraders are not uncommon. Heck, look at Samsung. They intentionally release the S and Note series separately. People are actually buying those lock-step, more frequent than the normal yearly cycle. And this is actually not bad. Fashion is worse, where people spent thousands of dollars for a dress that they only wore once or twice.
I agree except that the pro labeling should also only be used on machines updated in the last couple years. A Mac pro with 2013 tech in it is anything but "Pro".
MacBook Pro Pro!At least it’s better than using the word Pro to denote needless expensiveness without any true professional qualities, which is pretty much how things are now.
I'm not so sure... it used to be, few people had iPhones. I suppose popularity and subsidized phones helped that to the point now that many people and their teenage kids are using them. Granted, some kids (and adults alike) are using hand-me-down iPhones, or otherwise just springing for Iph from 2 to 3 generations prior (wasn't really possible before since Iph also held their value well. Now, 3 gen. prior is quite a difference in night and day in terms of features and performance). Perhaps Apple now wants to reinstigate the Iph's traditional status, and will do so with this "Iphone Edition"I think the term you are looking for here is "aspirational". Apple products have never been cheap, and not everyone will be able to afford them (as evidenced by their comparatively low market share).
Yet there is no shortage of people willing to pay for Apple products, because there are some things the rest of the competition just can't offer.
People have known this since day one, so I don't see why people are suddenly acting all shocked and raising a stink over it.
Well played sir. Don't worry about all the haters, dey a buncha hoes.So will the battery die at 56%?
iPhone Steve Jobs Edition.
I can afford it for a few more years until my daughter starts college. But that doesn't mean I will be comfortable walking around with something that costly and fragile. My iPhone 7 Plus 256 GB was really pushing it.I don't know about you guys... but I'm not in the US... float between Canada and Australia...and I'm feeling like iPhone prices today are already getting to ridiculous territory. I don't know if I can swallow spending a few hundred dollars more than today's prices for a phone that I'll use for 2 years maybe 3 if I'm lucky..
The "Tim Cook Apple" is SOOOOO lost. I just can't see how they will EVER be able to afford the the building - with Tim Cook in charge. The new new phone thing sounds like a mad dash to come out with "something" in time.... with NO real direction. just sad to Apple spinning down the drain and rapidly now.....![]()

None of the iPhones this year will have OLED display.
None of the iPhones this year will ditch Home button.
In 2018 though, yes to both.
And HDR. I could care less about 4K but wide color (especially if Apple can pull off full Rec.2020 support) and HDR woild be great. The "rumored" name sucks, but if it has support for capturing wide color in 10 bits, AND displaying 10-bit wide color, then it could be a very BIG hit, regardless of the name.
10-bit wide color would enable it to sync-up with 4K UHD TVs, many of which already have DCI-P3 10-bit support ... so, only a relatively-minor color space conversion would be necessary to display your iPhone 8 (Display P3) content on your 4K UHD TV, in all it's vivid colors.
Yes, i know.Another hater who thinks Apple is lost just because Apple is pursuing a direction he doesn't agree with.
Are you confusing the global marketshare graph with the one for the UK?Umm, something wrong with your chart? Android should be around 80%, iOS around 20%, and Windows should not be very big. More like this one at that link you gave:
The graph @kdarling posted is the one shown when you follow the link you posted. Are you confusing the global marketshare graph with the one for the UK?
It means not for your average fanboy.
