Question? Did you sell your iPhone 7 Plus or will you keep it separately for backup.
I usually keep it for backup but a family member will get it at the end of the month. My 6S+ is serving well as a backup.

That's what I'm running now. I'm using the 6s plus as the back up. I sold the 7 plus.I usually keep it for backup but a family member will get it at the end of the month. My 6S+ is serving well as a backup.

You're getting a little confused here. The X has more pixels across its width, but those pixels are crammed in tighter, as they are smaller. It has a higher pixel count of 458 per inch.
My apologies, I thought you were referring to the 8+ for some reason! That'll teach me not to absorb what I'm actually reading.i don't think i am. iphone 8 has pixels *2 and the X has pixels *3 and that's what i based my numbers on.
It would have a beast of a peice too.Makes sense. I figured this first iPhone X was really intended as a long term replacement for the 4.7" iPhone, especially with the consistent rumours about a larger or Plus version of it coming in 2018. That one will feel like a beast of a phone!
True, and you need to therefore take into account the two regions, top and bottom of the iPhone X that are unusable screen space.
Does the X home screen flip to landscape ?
I believe so, but you have to pay a one time $29 software fee to unlock that feature
This is exactly why I went with the 8+ over the X, I can view photographs, most of which are in 4:3 ratio, at about 10% larger than on the X. Still with the wide colour gamut display and I have never been able to see the pixels on the 5.5" screens, so that is a non-issue to me.

From Apples own site, just divide the screen widths (given in pixels) by their respective PPI's.
Using this same logic, the iPhone 8+ screen is therefore 2.6932 inches wide.
I think it's obvious that the usable screen space is pretty much a draw. Even if the X has a slight edge, it's not meaningful enough to really matter.
But screen quality is a clear win for X.
And the device-to-screen ratio is a clear win for X. It's gonna fit so much better in my hand, my pocket, and on a call.
John Gruber says different: https://daringfireball.net/2017/09/iphone_x_event_thoughts_and_observationsNext year Apple releases two versions of the X, the current 5.8 inch and a taller 6.+ version. This years new X was hurried because they couldn’t get certain things to work they envisioned (touch ID). This was the 10th anniversary so they “had” to shell something out “different” whether you think it’s good or bad.
