You can ALWAYS point to stuff that didn't pan out, but more often than not they got the big things right. Right down to the design. I'd say the rumors are usually at least 85% accurate lately.

Fair enough - but what out of what we currently know will turn out to be true?

Wireless charging or not? No part leaks for the iPhone 7S so is that happening or will we just see an iPhone 8? Still lots to play for, so to speak.

I remember this time in 2014 there were so few leaks to suggest a 5.5 inch iPhone that some people thought there wouldn't be a 6Plus.

For everyone saying you will go to Android if they do this, well that is one sure way to guarantee you won't have a lightning connector.
why are people saying this?

certainly when all the main flagship android's run USB type-C lol

Sorry but they just released lightning headphones and the lightning audio adapter. They won't switch that fast.

As has been said, the biggest and most radical upgrade needs to be to iOS, specifically the Springboard. The rest of iOS is great, but the cluster of icons and folders of icons is quite old and needs completely innovate interface and the totally crap multitasker switcher is just horrid.

Because there is no possibility that you buy an iPhone other than the most expensive model, and there is no possibility that you can just _not buy anything_. When Apple releases a new phone, your only choices are either buying it, or switching to Android.

There is a new Mercedes Maybach starting at £172,000, so I suppose all Mercedes owners are going to sell their cars now...

So true, I find it funny when people complain about the price of something.

What ever happened to shopping in an educated way?

A couple of questions for anything one buys:
Do I really need XYZ features?
Do I need the top model?
Does it do what I want?
How long will I keep it?

....and the list goes on.

Deciding between "wants"and "needs" at times makes us squirm, but it helps to be honest with oneself.

So, if a $ 1,000 plus iPhone is out of reach, either save up and use it longer than normal or buy the device that fits your budget.

As for Android, once you buy top of the line the prices are pretty close and anybody who says they go to "cheaper" Androids should at least not kid themselves getting the same features than a $ 1,000 iPhone.

I have no idea what the Google Pixel costs, but that thing looks pretty good. Best iPhone copy yet.

If the phones come with a USB-C to micro USB-C cable and a USB-A to USB-C converter, that would resolve the conflict. It's a dongle but one almost nobody would object to.

Wouldn't it be cool if that dongle itself had value added features like any of another USB port, a Lightning port, wireless charging, 5G LTE. Hmmm

I think my 6s will be one of the best eras in iPhones, no adapters and it's still USB compatible. Great HD screen, 2GB of ram and large 128GB space. I love that I don't need special adapter just to play my music.
Personally I'd trade off better water resistance for a headphone jack if that was the reason but I can't disagree with iPhone 6s being the best.
The article said the 8 will be in addition to the 7S and 7S Plus phones.
yes but like last year they said the same thing and the dual camera was going to be the 3rd iPhone but that was the plus in the end.

This is all rumors and no gaurentees.

... even though there isn't one Android phone on the market that outsells iPhone. Yup. Android is truly king.

True, but some folks like (or are stuck with) the Apple ecosystem. Leading does not always mean sales. I have no idea who is leading who, though, nor do I care. I just want the darn thing to work.

Hahahaha, when samsung did it it was a gimmick... Now on an iphone it is worth 1,000 dollars. You just got to love it.

iphone 8 - the Samsung edition

The Lightening connector is smaller than a standard USB-C.
Can't see that happening with Ive's obsession with thinness.

Bring it. USB C will be a solid addition. [Now cue all the "But Android has had this forever already!" comments...]

Actually hoping for more of a change with iOS than any hardware fandangles.

There is NO WAY Apple will go USB C on the iPhone. They have total control of the Lightning port, including the design of the socket, which they can make smaller and thinner than the USB C socket. And considering how Apple is about space inside their devices, and the fact that USB C would probably open the iPhone to all kinds of headaches, no way USB C will be found in iPhone or iPads. It's really cute that people believe this rumor.

Good. USB-C is where they should have gone with the 6S. Very annoying, but dropping ligtning for an open standard would actually be courage unlike what they tried to say was courage last year.

Courage is going on the opposite direction knowing IT IS the right direction, when everyone around you is kind of lost in the past. This courage thing has become a joke from short sighted people who think headphone jack will be around forever. I have iPhone 6s with headphone jack and heavy spotify and youtube user, I can't remember the last time I used the headphone jack. Honestly.

USB-C? I don't see this happening. But who knows, I couldn't see them switching to lighting when they did either. With lightning, there was a clear benefit. I just don't see the benefit with USB-C.

My guess is the OEMs are driving it. More and more Android phones are dropping the 3.5mm and using USBC for everything, including headphones. Why would I make lightning headphones, USBC headphones, and 3.5mm headphones?

Personally I say bring it on - Lightning was great but USB-C is the future!

USB-C? Of all the rumors about the next iPhone, this one has me particularly excited. Can I see Apple dropping their own proprietary port? (Apple LOVES proprietary stuff) Not necessarily. But it sure would be good for the industry. It is at that point that we'd really begin to see USB-C headphones and other USB C peripherals, if you ask me. And FINALLY, iPhone and Android users can use each other's chargers!

I really don't see this happening for this years iPhone. Apple just ain't the kind to have two different iPhones at one announcement. The 7S, 7S plus an a 10th anniversary edition? Lol not happening. It's either one or the other.

Same here. If this ends up happening, would 2018 see an iPhone 8S and an iPhone 9?
The rumor of Apple releasing a 7S, 7S Plus, and a 10th Anniversary phone isn't that outlandish. Think about it. It will take very little R&D dollars for Apple to rebrand and release the iPhone 7 design (again, for the fourth year in a row). Those will sell for the usual iPhone price. Then at the top end Apple will have the "10th anniversary iPhone" or whatever they call it. That will raise the ASP (average selling price) of the iPhone by a decent margin. It's the same thing that Apple did with the 9.7" iPad Pro when they upped the price by $100. Gotta pump those stocks up!

And then next year Apple will expand the redesign to all iPhone models/sizes.

My $0.02.

I don't see it causing any headaches, other than having to replace cables.
