Supply chain sources tell me they are gearing up for the iPhone 12, which will fit in the current AirPods shells. No screen necessary, it taps directly into the optic nerve for display. Touch is transmitted by a skin-like thin film that is worn on a fingertip. It is believed that 3d photos are taken through the eyes, though the analog-digital converter vendor is unknown at this time. Samsung is currently testing a clone in their labs. Rumor has it that 3 lab technicians were admitted to the hospital for unspecified ear injuries due to exploding batteries.

I'm kinda just hoping the did exactly as the S8 is but kept a 16:9 screen instead of tallifying it to death. I don't like the top wiggle or the bezels left and right. For me the design has to be something special I'm on a three year old iPhone 6 plus and still can't see any benefit to upgrading with the current set of rumours.

Anyways what resolution would these iPhones use? Still 1080p like the 7 Plus? I doubt apple would further fragment its device base.

OMG!! I couldn't even finish reading the article after laughing my head off at just the headline. lololololllllllllll

1) Of course it will be named iPhone 8. In several important countries, 8 is a very lucky number. iPhone 8 in rose gold should sell... well.
2) I've got an iPhone 7 Plus and keep it in my front shirt pocket! Yeah, it sticks out an inch. Can't wait to shrink this back to 7-size with an iPhone 8.
3) By the time we get iPhone 9, I believe all will be OLED except the watch might be micro LED.
4) I predict dark mode for iOS will be announced, optional, and in beta at WWDC, and the default on OLED and micro LED devices.
5) On shortages, they can avoid them by releasing in a just a couple of important countries at first, then expand. I'm on their subscription phone thing. After 12 payments I'm supposed to get a new phone, but of course I want the OLED one. If I have to wait two extra months, for example, I paid more than planned for the 7, (14 instead of 12 payments) and with the new phone needing 12 payments, I'll be forever 2 months behind, unless I pay 2 months extra cash up front which means I pay twice for those two months. So I say give the iPhone subscribers priority to avoid this.

Three sizes of one model; 5.3, 5.8, and 6.5. Assuming full-screen display panels then they will be roughly the same size as the current models overall. That makes much more sense than the rumored 2017 makeup of the completely new 8 with glass front and back, the minor upgrade 7S and 7S+ that will use the now four-generation old design started with the iPhone 6, and the SE which is still using the iPhone 5 chassis.

If that comes to pass and Apple brings back simplicity and consistency to its product line I think it will be better for consumers. Of course this gives me reason to hold off a year on upgrading from my 6+. Even assuming the 6.5" model uses .7" for the touch bar it will still have .3" of additional usable screen area over my current phone.

Not really. Its not a lot of work to make an app for 4.7" and 5.5" phones we have now. Developers have generally gotten use to this with all the differnet screen sizes we have to work with on both iOS and Android.
We have a relatively small app that is only updated once or twice per year. As a small part of my job I do design and project manage our app and I remember it being a big pain testing the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The external dev team we contracted with couldn't get a lot of things straight between the two versions. There were a lot of visual inconsistencies. Maybe the developers were just bad, idk, but I was not a fan. Hopefully the Xcode tools have gotten better since then along with their experience in scaling apps.

So what they're saying is that this year we only get the 8 and not the 8 Plus?

I would love a 6" and up display, if the phone will stay around the size of the 7 Plus.

When the "rumours" scene can't even make their minds up about what's happening THIS year, even LESS so would I listen to their "expectations" of NEXT years phone. Gimme a break :D
I know! What is this world coming to when you can't depend on the "rumors" scene to get consistent and accurate predictions. Next you're going to tell me that Bat Boy isn't real and Angelina Jolie hasn't shrunk to 90 pounds!

What is wrong with this reporting? Can you guys stop with the nonsense already? Is this web site that desperate for site hits? Come-on be realistic here. I want to be a copy and paste reporter one day when I grow up.

If the new iPhone looks like that "iPhone 8" rendering, it's unlikely anyone would buy it. That black bar at the top is really ugly.

I actually think the iPhone 9 will be a better buy than buying the upcoming iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 will cost like $1000, but I expect Apple to then lower the prices of the iPhone 9 to current iPhone prices as manufacturing costs decline from introducing the new design.
