Ugh forgot this year's model. The 2018 iPhone is where it's at. Though in a few months I'm sure we'll have some rumors for the 2019 iPhone with its 5.87992 inch screen so might as well wait for that.

So, in what sizes will the pants pockets rumored to come in the same year ?

The 'clown phone' era is in full swing

Anyways what resolution would these iPhones use? Still 1080p like the 7 Plus? I doubt apple would further fragment its device base.

If we are speaking in terms of 2019, OLED would likely be the primary for the iPhone lineup. Which would likely have a much higher resolution then where were at with currently with LED.

Speaking of fragmentation, how aware are you of Apples lineup ?Because clearly they have changed their product line up immensely these last three years with the iPhone and iPad and expanding to new sizes. I don't think fragmentation applies to the Company this only had one or two options five years ago.

full on phablet

I'm sure these large handset sell fine to those who don't carry them in their jeans pockets. the current 7 non plus is as big as I'll ever want. If they'd fully load the SE I'd buy that one instead.
If the iPhone 8 with a 5.8" screen is hardly bigger than the 4.7" iPhone 6 & 7, why would you expect the iPhone 9 with 5.28" screen to bigger than the current 4.7" models?

I remember in the old days (well, sort of, I was pretty young) people made jokes about phones getting smaller and smaller (Zoolander features a scene where he uses a phone so small it can only be operated with the tips of his fingers), yet now phones just keep getting bigger and bigger. What do you think the maximum size for a phone will be? Are any of you actually interested in an iPad Mini-phone?

If true, it looks like this year's non 7S iphone will be a pro/edition/ nomenclature device. And next year we get a proper 8 series.

As stories surrounding the 2017 launch of the "iPhone 8" continue to heat up, a report from The Bell this morning has already begun rumors for next year's so-called "iPhone 9." According to the report, which centers on Apple's and Samsung's supply chain deal for the 2018 iPhone, the iPhone 9 will launch in two OLED screen sizes: 5.28-inch and 6.46-inch (via The Investor).

Apple currently sells a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display in its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphone devices, respectively. Later this year, the company is expected to launch new iPhones in three sizes: two "iPhone 7s" models will keep the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display sizes, while the major new "iPhone 8" will include a 5.8-inch OLED screen.

The new rumor for the 2018 iPhone devices suggests a screen that would be slightly smaller than the current display of the iPhone Plus models, and then a larger option that would represent Apple's biggest smartphone display to date. Although the report doesn't confirm the full sizes of the iPhone 9 models, the screen dimensions suggest Apple could return to a pair of device sizes similar to current generation iPhones but with full-front displays and greatly reduced bezels.

The Bell's report today doesn't mention any other rumors related to the iPhone 9, except that Samsung will be the supplier for the OLED displays and will manufacture more than 180 million units for Apple. The report did state that details such as "screen design and functions" might be adjusted down the line, considering how far away the iPhone 9 is from a launch date.

Let's be realistic, it will be called iPhone 8 (although to be fair you can't call it that due to 2017 rumors).

I hope that the 5.28" model is small enough to be suitable for 4" and 4.7" users.
I think these numbers will fluctuate in the future anyway.

The XA it is as wide as an iPhone 4.7 with a 5 inch edge to edge. Taking off the top and lower bezel does to change that. My Girlfriend and Mom found both those to be "big" and opted for an iPhone SE. 5.28 is big one way or the other for SE users.

They need to make the iPhone SE with edge to edge. Whatever size that comes out to (4.6?) - and call it a day.
