Apple's next-generation iPhone Air could still launch in the fall of 2026, according to the Weibo leaker known as "Fixed Focus Digital."

The leaker claims to have been told by sources that the second-generation iPhone Air will launch in the fall. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17e is said to already be in mass production ahead of unveiling at a spring product launch event.

The rumor comes in contrast to an array of corroborated reports that the second-generation iPhone Air has been delayed until March 2027, where it is expected to launch alongside the standard iPhone 18 and a lower-end iPhone 18e. The second-generation iPhone Air was originally rumored to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone in the fall of 2026, but poor sales of the debut model apparently led Apple to delay the launch.

The second-generation iPhone Air is rumored to address complaints about the device by adding a second rear camera and lowering its price. A lighter weight, vapor chamber cooling, and a larger battery capacity are also among the rumored new features.

It is still possible that a new iPhone Air could launch in the fall of next year, especially if Apple has expedited development of new features, since this was the original scheduled launch time frame. Nevertheless, it would be surprising if the multitude of rumors indicating a delayed launch were mistaken.

They can keep their second camera. I want a second speaker.

It pained me to return this gorgeous phone earlier this year and just go with the regular 17, but I couldn't go forward with the tinny, quiet, underpowered speaker when I spend half my day on Zoom calls around the house, on walks, etc.

Does Apple listen to the people? A second speaker is more sought after. An ultra wide camera is not wanted.
I wasn't aware that a large survey was conducted asking whether the next iPhone Air should have a 2nd speaker or an extra camera lens. Could you share this data you have that shows that a majority of those surveyed prefer a 2nd speaker?

Agree...all Air customers prefers second speakers and if there is even better battery life instead of second camera, even better

Would much rather have the second speaker back than any of the upgrades listed in the article :/ I haven’t felt a need for the extra cooling or second camera at all, and I like how minimal it looks with just the single camera.

Keep it thin and light guys! Everyone who has held my phone has been really impressed by it

If it comes next year, it means it will have zero improvements.

If 2027, it means additional camera and speakers.

Look at the layout of the Air's logic board and components. There's zero chance it could be laid out again in such short time.

If you listen to these guys on the forum, you'd think the Air was the best selling iPhone in history. They have no clue about mainstream features.

Just out of curiosity, why don’t you just use headphones? Surely you’d want that when on walks with Zoom calls anyway right?

If we're to look at iPhone sales, we can see that the Pro and Pro Max almost always sell better than the regular (and Plus) iPhone.

The biggest difference between the regular / Plus iPhone and the Pro / Pro Max iPhone? The extra camera lens. That leads me to believe that people get more out of a better camera set up than having stereo speakers, especially when I see many iPhone users with AirPods which fixes the mono speaker issue.
