All these armchair experts decided on their own, without any sales information from Apple, that the phone didn’t sell at all. But if you visit big cities like NYC, iPhone Airs are everywhere. Apple is not living in online communities; if they are selling enough IPAs, they’ll keep making them.

Always a smart alec around here who thinks they have wit when they really don't. Spend a few minutes on youtube, forums (including here), to see why people have returned it or are opting for the base or Pro.
I have. This person returned the iPhone Air because camera.

Everything else (i.e. single speaker) was acceptable.

I can show you many other posts across YouTube, Reddit, Twitter/X, etc where people returned their iPhone Air because of the camera.

I'm not saying the mono speaker set up isn't an issue with some people. But the single camera lens is an issue too.

I'm also saying you have no proof that "a second speaker is more sought after" than a wide camera lens, so you making that claim is just your personal preference and not based on fact.

I’m just happy to see Tim Cook’s game of withholding features and price laddering bite Apple in the ass.

Apple cut a few too many corners and it resulted in a device they’re struggling to sell. Saved pennies on a second speaker, lost millions in sales.

Apple's next-generation iPhone Air could still launch in the fall of 2026, according to the Weibo leaker known as "Fixed Focus Digital."

iphone-air-camera.jpg

The leaker claims to have been told by sources that the second-generation iPhone Air will launch in the fall. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17e is said to already be in mass production ahead of unveiling at a spring product launch event.

The rumor comes in contrast to an array of corroborated reports that the second-generation iPhone Air has been delayed until March 2027, where it is expected to launch alongside the standard iPhone 18 and a lower-end iPhone 18e. The second-generation iPhone Air was originally rumored to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone in the fall of 2026, but poor sales of the debut model apparently led Apple to delay the launch.

The second-generation iPhone Air is rumored to address complaints about the device by adding a second rear camera and lowering its price. A lighter weight, vapor chamber cooling, and a larger battery capacity are also among the rumored new features.

It is still possible that a new iPhone Air could launch in the fall of next year, especially if Apple has expedited development of new features, since this was the original scheduled launch time frame. Nevertheless, it would be surprising if the multitude of rumors indicating a delayed launch were mistaken.

I can believe this as the air is obviously the beginning of the next iteration of the regular iPhone.

There is a technical (physics) problem with the image quality of the camera on a "thin" phone. Basically, you need some depth to get acceptable image quality (it's around 13-14mm on the other iPhones), and the 9.5mm camera depth on the Air is marginal ... just enough to be OK on a regular field of view, but not capable of telephoto.

"Thin" phones are going to have to circumvent this problem ... and I think the required 7-8mm overhang for the camera bump isn't going to be an acceptable solution.

As regards imaging, we need thicker phones!

Does Apple listen to the people? A second speaker is more sought after. An ultra wide camera is not wanted.
I want the ultra wide at 200mp sensor more than a regular lens. If I need two lenses so be it.

Apple needs to use the silicon carbon batteries in the iPhone Air to increase the density and capability of it. I don’t need anything more out of it but I most want the ultra wide lens of all the things people complain about. The battery doesn’t bother me at all nor does the single speaker. Holding the iPhone Air is a joy. Super fun to use. Makes my 17 Pro Max for work feel like a brick.

Glad they listened but I feel the damage is already done. A wide lens/stereo speaker should have been there from the beginning. Anyway welcome

Option C: Prices stay the same, features stay the same, but the move to a 2nm processor gets them to say it now has longer battery life.

Result: Same sales performance as Air 1.

You have all those naive people comparing iPhone Air with iPhone 16 battery life. They don’t seem to realize consumers compare with what’s available today, not last year.

A rising tide lifts all boats. The iPhone 18/Pro/Max will all get better battery life because of 2nm. The Air 2 will still be the weird one with poor battery life.

Agree...all Air customers prefers second speakers and if there is even better battery life instead of second camera, even better
I own the air -- since day 1. I've always had pro before. iphone user since v1 2007. The speaker is a non issue! It is not stereo, but it is VERY LOUD and good for any use. It's a non issue. I miss zoom cameras, but size and weight and screen make up for it. People complaining don't own and use the air. It is the best iphone since the X. Hands down. No competition.

Remember the battery can be a bigger issue than people think. The phone has only been out for a few months so far, when the battery health starts to drop and more demanding updates release that is when the battery is really put to the test.

(iPhone 16 is literally "available today.")

(iPhone 16 is literally "available today.")

So is iPhone 17.

That's why most people compare Air with 17 and say the battery life is poor. They don't say "Oh, if we move the goalposts and pretend it's 2022 or 2024, then the Air battery life is good."

Unless they listen to people and implement the improvements they're clamoring for, then this is going up be a waste of resources.

They should focus on the foldable while hopefully learning from the mistakes of the disgraced original iPhone Air.
One Miss Blunder unlike the One Hit Wonder.

Not sure if the speakers will ever improve considering the physics of the device that also goes for more battery life.

I’ve yet to see another iPhone Air since I got mine on launch day. It’s the first iPhone that I’ve had that experience with. I spent several hours in Chicago Ohare in December and I’m several days into a visit to London and I haven’t spotted a single one. I’ve seen tonnes of 17 pros, mostly orange. I know it’s not concrete, but I’m gonna guess sales are really bad.
