I ended up returning my Air because I didn't like it. I thought it would be more portable like the iPhone 13, but it's still too big. I don't need the large screen because if I do, I use my iPad. I use my phone mostly for maps, taking photos, texting and email. A larger screen doesn't matter to me. I just scroll one handed if I need to see more of the email. Apple, please give us a small lightweight phone! That's the vision Steve had, and you've lost that vision.

Agree...all Air customers prefers second speakers and if there is even better battery life instead of second camera, even better
All Air Customers: The few, the proud, the ripped off.
If you listen to these guys on the forum, you'd think the Air was the best selling iPhone in history. They have no clue about mainstream features.
If it were the entry level model and not a mid-range more premium tier - sure - it would be a great device. I just don't get how anyone would discern spending more for less all around was a wise when the whole phone isn't "slim" so it solves little. If one more iPhone Air person complains about 1 speak so help me - we've been here before with iPhones. You knew what you bought. Enjoy mono.
Just out of curiosity, why don’t you just use headphones? Surely you’d want that when on walks with Zoom calls anyway right?
In fairness, not everyone has headphone on them all the time or when you are sitting at home, why?

But above comment - no sympathies given to people that bought it.

I don’t mean all the time, just the use cases they were referring to on their comment. Plus, if they really liked the phone, that would have resolved the issue they refer too. Generally even with any phone for their Zoom calls they do outside walking I’d imagine that would just be a standard thing to do using headphones, no?

This rumor is just a wish list of features that isn't feasible in the current iPhone air form factor. There's only two possible changes.

1) Swap over to a silicon carbon battery for a larger capacity
2) Remove USB-C plug for a second speaker

All other talk about a second camera or larger battery etc. are just wishful thinking. There's literally no space in the phone for those items. You have to give something to get something.

I have it on good authority that Air owners, despite praising the Air as perfect, hug a body pillow in the fetal position and cry themselves to sleep each night while questioning if they made the right choice paying more for fewer features.

Joking aside, and take this from a mini owner that has had many fetal position moments, if Apple asks what you would like to see or what you think is missing, tell them the TRUTH if you want to see an Air 2 or any improvements.

Unlike us mini survivors, you Air folks have the chance to ensure the Air lives to fight another day but also that Apple improves the Air. If you want to ride Apple’s meat (to quote Flossy) here on MR, enjoy yourself. But if Apple contacts you Air owners directly with a survey or questionnaire, give them an honest report of how to improve the Air, no need to blow smoke and tell them it’s the most magical device ever, Apple already has your money, so make your feedback count. The mini never got that opportunity, and as a result, we’ll sadly never see a mini again.

I wasn't aware that a large survey was conducted asking whether the next iPhone Air should have a 2nd speaker or an extra camera lens. Could you share this data you have that shows that a majority of those surveyed prefer a 2nd speaker?
it was a private survey of 1 with a margin of error of 0%. I’ve never seen anything like it before 😂😉

Apple's next-generation iPhone Air could still launch in the fall of 2026, according to the Weibo leaker known as "Fixed Focus Digital."

iphone-air-camera.jpg

The leaker claims to have been told by sources that the second-generation iPhone Air will launch in the fall. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17e is said to already be in mass production ahead of unveiling at a spring product launch event.

The rumor comes in contrast to an array of corroborated reports that the second-generation iPhone Air has been delayed until March 2027, where it is expected to launch alongside the standard iPhone 18 and a lower-end iPhone 18e. The second-generation iPhone Air was originally rumored to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone in the fall of 2026, but poor sales of the debut model apparently led Apple to delay the launch.

The second-generation iPhone Air is rumored to address complaints about the device by adding a second rear camera and lowering its price. A lighter weight, vapor chamber cooling, and a larger battery capacity are also among the rumored new features.

It is still possible that a new iPhone Air could launch in the fall of next year, especially if Apple has expedited development of new features, since this was the original scheduled launch time frame. Nevertheless, it would be surprising if the multitude of rumors indicating a delayed launch were mistaken.

I rarely use the built-in iPhone speakers. I have BT speakers, AirPods and wired EarPods. If I'm in the car, it's CarPlay.

I would actually argue that they continued Steve's vision for the first time in years by going thinner when nobody expected them (at least not before samsung released their thin phone) and pretty much nobody asked for it just like nobody asked for the first MacBook Air and now it's the gold standard. People fell in love with Apple products because of the slick design and notwithstanding the complaints people have about the iPhone Air I think they came pretty close.

Don't forget part 2 of Steve's advice: saying no.

MacBook Air made a difference because people didn't want to carry a 6 lb notebook. People don't care about 1.5 oz of extra weight for iPhone.

Jobs would have said no to iPhone Air because it doesn't actually improve the user experience.

i can believe this because they would've locked in the roadmap/production capacity/tooling years back, heck i wouldn't be surprised if they've already got a stockpile of them already manufactured.

It's not like they only start making them after the keynote.

Same reason the mini ran for 2 gens then got the axe, same reason the plus ran for 3 years then got the axe.

Work upgraded my phone last week, incidentally, the air is currently discounted to close to what the base 17 is. i had the choice between either; the 17 was a 2 day wait, the air was in stock. I ended up choosing the 17.
