It’s noticeably less bright than my 15 pro max.

I suppose you're talking about auto-brightness, which is normal. My XR was noticeably brighter than my 13 Pro, too. The software will dim the screen more on a phone that is expected to burn through the battery faster.

Negative. I mean with brightness turned all the way up on both of them, the 15 is brighter, cooler, arguably more crisp looking. I keep auto brightness off

Lots of compromises with this phone.

Surely those complaining about width are not coming from a max phone.

just got back from the shop, and couldn’t resist buying the Air.

The camera looks great from what I could tell, lots of zoom still.

But the blacks I saw were really scratched and the woman helping me said they’re aware of the issue with them. She also told me it isn’t just the black air but all the dark colours this year, and showed me a dark blue Pro with the same issue.

So I went for the blue Air, as I am planning to try this phone without using a case.

Been using the Air for two days now and it’s the perfect phone for my needs. The weight feels great coming from a pro max. Speaker is fine for my needs. The camera still works for my most needs. I actually miss the lidar sensor the most ( coach softball and baseball and it came in handy to measure the pitching distance). Still can measure but added extra step without the sensor

I also swapped black the blue. Scratches aside, I think the whiteish backs work the best with back bump and matte finish. I can see why most of them are near white.

Lidar was what I thought I’d miss most too but my iPad has it. What’s the extra step for measuring?

My 17 Pro I’m using simultaneously is also draining faster today than I thought it might. Could just be those “first day” woes.

50% remaining with 2:58 SOT for the 17 Pro. I was at 56% remaining with 1:58 SOT earlier for the Air.
Air battery seems quite a bit better today so far.

83% remaining with 1:40 SOT.

Got my Air Friday, have had all non-Max Pro phones. I think I’m going to give the Air a few more days, but…it’s probably not it for me. And it’s the size.

To be clear - it’s a beautiful phone oh goodness. It immediately made my 16 Pro feel like a tiny brick. Mono speaker is fine, camera is decent but obviously not as feature packed as the others, battery not a concern as I am next to enough chargers, but…as what has happened to me before in trying Maxes, it’s a little too wide for me, and more so, I love using the action button and my hands juuuust have to do that slide/wiggle the phone down to reach it. That feels like a compromise.

And like someone else said earlier, I think if I kept it, I’m going to think about the things I’m missing out on from the Pro (camera, heat dissipation, one handed-ness) more than this design (but again, it’s so good).

Of course, this isn’t an issue for anyone who is already used to the Max. If you love this phone, keep it! It really does feel like the future. I will likely be going with the Silver Pro I picked up. Apple has quite the lineup this year across all three new Fall phones.

It’s like the pre lidar phones where you have to rotate the phone around for the camera to figure out the surrounding area.
Is it accurate?
Do you think the gold is noticeable to you generally? Or just basically a different shade of 3 whites offered this year? Pics look great.
They’re extremely subtle. I quite liked the gold, the titanium edges show the gold when the light lets it (the sales person suggested I hold them under the table in the shop and it made a difference), but I’d be hard pushed to call it “gold” overall

I know from watching several YouTube videos on the new iPhone Air that one of a few issues the reviewers had was the single camera setup of this iPhone. I had the opportunity to use my Air exclusively to take a few pictures at a local Porsche car meet I went to yesterday and captured these images . . .

I even tried a panoramic picture and this is the result using my Air

I was amazed by the clarity of these pictures and felt it edged out my 15 Pro Max for what this iPhone brings.

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this iPhone and didn't experience the battery life issues presented by content creators evaluating this iPhone. As I have mentioned in an earlier post, for my use case, this iPhone has been a perfect addition and I love that it is very thin and light compared to my 15 Pro Max. I also love the Space Black color of my new iPhone. :)

I’ve watched a few reviews and music videos on YouTube in landscape today and it’s absolutely fine. Sure, it’s not as rich sounding as the dual speakers on my 14PM, but it’s more than sufficient for casual content consumption. If I was wanting to watch a 2 hour blockbuster movie, I’d probably be putting on the AirPods though.
I would generally agree. It's passable. I'm struggling with the whole single-camera thing.

I had to double check my box to confirm it was the gold version ha. Even the sides and camera ring are almost silver if you didn’t have something to compare it with and the back is almost white. As a iPhone gold lover, it isn’t anywhere near that and actually way lighter than even Apple’s starlight color.

Thanks, this is helpful. Did you take any photos that were not in great lighting? My decision as to whether or not to keep the Ait is largely going to come down to the camera question.
