That's good to hear, I still debating if I should trade my 16 pro max for it. How about the photo quality? have you tried the new camera on the air?
I haven't taken ay serious photos with it yet, just normal daily stuff, people pics and the ones I have taken look great.

Don't miss the camera downgrade?
This is where I am. I am coming from a 15PM and I honestly never used my iPhone for photography but I am curious in some situations how it will be not having the extra cameras.
I love my air more than any other iPhone ive had and ive had them all. It's just the perfect balance for me.
I love to hear this! I am hopeful I feel the same way once mine arrives. I think the lightness of the phone, plus the screen size will make me happier as my 15PM is like a brick.

I use my camera to snap photos of memories and adventures.
I would love to change my mentality to where this was my relationship with my phone camera. I always approach a phone camera as though I’m trying to get the highest-quality, professional photos I can. As a side effect, I let the memorable moments pass me by because I’m always looking for the dramatic photo.

Nothing is more fun than going through a shoebox of old childhood photos and being able to place myself in those settings again as if it was yesterday. And those photos mostly look like ass in quality haha.

I have pictures of myself at the Grand Canyon from 2007 that were taken on a disposable camera. They look fake in the best way possible. Why am I worried about these minor bumps in quality.

Are you using a case? I’m trying without and love the thinness but feel like I’d benefit from something, so am tempted to get a grip for the backI am not using a case yet. I want one that doesn't go over the camera bump but cant find one.
I haven't used one but I want one that doesn't cover the camera bump. As minimal as possible

Anyone who is a heavy-user or takes lots of photos, the Pros are always the way to go. For those with average use, take photos once in a while, and also have charging access throughout the day, the Air would be a great phone. As much as I like the Pro Max or even the Galaxy Sxx Ultra models, they are massive heavy phones.

Great taste in watch! That photo looks great too. I don’t need macro, I just find it fun. My wife has a pro too so I’d have the option if I needed it.

Thanks! And yeah, zooming in to 2x has been decent enough for close-up shots of things I want to sell. If I need to shoot anything even smaller, I just whip out my “real camera” then.

Also another tip for those who are lamenting the lack of 0.5x zoom: Pano mode actually helps a lot as long as what you’re capturing is mostly still.

I know from watching several YouTube videos on the new iPhone Air that one of a few issues the reviewers had was the single camera setup of this iPhone. I had the opportunity to use my Air exclusively to take a few pictures at a local Porsche car meet I went to yesterday and captured these images . . .

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this iPhone and didn't experience the battery life issues presented by content creators evaluating this iPhone. As I have mentioned in an earlier post, for my use case, this iPhone has been a perfect addition and I love that it is very thin and light compared to my 15 Pro Max. I also love the Space Black color of my new iPhone. :)

This is what I wanted to confirm.

The Air brings back memories of when the Minis first came out, and all the power users started complaining non-stop about the battery life and screen size. But phones like the Mini, or now the Air, were never meant for that crowd. Like buying a Civic and then complaining it’s a ****** car for the outback or long-haul drives.

These sorts of handsets are made for people who are constantly on the go and just want a light, portable phone that doesn’t feel like a brick in their pocket. I might take one photo a month. For media consumption or anything heavy-duty, I’ve got my cellular iPad Mini, MacBook, iPad Pro, and Apple TV.

And as someone who’s picky about speed and coverage, I also carry a Galaxy S25+ for work and times when fast cellular performance really matters. Samsung always prioritizes better modem tech and specs, even over battery life, and I can lock (force) full standalone 5G only, something Apple still doesn’t allow on any model.

I think this sells the device short. The iPhone Air still costs the same as a base MacBook Air, so if it had to be relegated to a portable phone that isn’t used for even media consumption, it would deserve a hell of a lot of criticism.

I intend to use my Air for everything I used my 16 Pro for, and if it isn’t up to the task it will be going back to the shop. I’m accepting the photos will be more limited, otherwise I expect the experience to be similar otherwise I shouldn’t buying a £999 phone.

It’s decent. Sometimes you have to use 2x instead to get it closer because 1x is too blurry.

Oh, on that. I found it weird initially but it seems Apple locked the camera to 12MP by default. You have to go in and toggle 48MP mode for the main camera.

Once it’s in 48MP mode, main camera will be very sharp. The only drawback is your photos may take up more storage.

I've just tried it and it doesn't seem to make any difference to how close you can get to the object before it gets blurry and out of focus 🤷‍♂️

Oh you meant for close-ups. Then yeah, for close-ups, you really have to use 2x camera. Alternatively, use 48MP mode, just make sure the shot is in sharp focus then just take it. The resolution of the photo should allow you to crop it afterward.

I’ve never stopped loving the RAZR and I’m glad to have a non-Android alternative to tickle the itch! Pro iPhones got boring to me.
