I got two phones, an iPhone 17 Pro in Cosmic Orange with 256GB and an iPhone Air in Light Gold with 256GB. I will be picking both of them up at our local Apple Store on Sept. 19. The Air would have delivered to my house by Sept 25, so I decided to pick them up instead.

I was thinking of trying a trade-in with ATT since they offered an $830 trade-in for the Air and $1100 trade-in for the Pro for any phone that’s an iPhone 13 or above in any condition, but the stickler is in the details. They give you the trade-in value monthly over 36 months. If at any time you upgrade your phone, you lose any remaining trade-in value and would end up owing the rest. That just isn’t acceptable.

I’m about 99% sure the 9/25 delivery is a website error. Even currently it shows 9/19 delivery for a 256 pro in blue, but in bag it goes to 9/25. Was the same even at 8:00 when I ordered.

What the heck, ordered air 256GB blue at 05:!2 pst.. we’ll give her a try. Still says 9/19

Same for the blue Pro Max. I went for pick up instead.. that was the 19th. Really didn't want to do it that way, rather have my current phone until the new one is completely set up.
FYI, you do NOT need to return your old phone during pickup. They let me take the old phone home, do whatever I needed to, and come back to return the old phone within [if I recall correctly] 14 days.

Had one on pre-order and was able to order at like 5:05 but the delivery slipped to 9.25 already. After placing the order, I checked out another iPhone with exact model. It had 9.19 pickup at the Apple Store!

Ordered for the 10th year in a row at Verizon directly and every year it is smoother than ever. They opened pre-orders 3 minutes early and I have launch day orange and silver 17 Pro models (512 and 256 respectively) heading my way and sending back my 16 Pro models as usual. Verizon really does this well (knock on wood.)

Preorders in the US look to be down or blocked as of now, 8:20am edt.

“Excited? So are we.
Please stay on this page until we can bring you in for pre-order.”

As per Apple’s normal pre-order process, they have under prepared for the onslaught!

On 3 Apple devices, I was prepped to order a 17 ProMax that was in my bag. 10 minutes after seeing their BS “Excited & Stay here” pages I was allowed to purchase my bags contents. Delivery is 2weeks out, not next Friday.

Certainly not a world-ending event but it seems Tim needs to focus on the IT and sales organization to better ramp up for these events.

Year-after-year, it seems Apple just gets worse at handling these events launch purchasing process.
If there's one thing they aren't, it's bad at operations. It's not a bad thing to create scarcity, even if only artificially. They're now going to have huge foot traffic in stores, lines and crowds for the media, reports of high demand pushing out delivery dates, urgency to order ASAP to avoid long waits... This isn't some lack of preparedness.

In Germany, all Pro 256 GB models are pushed back to end of September / beginning of October. Same for most base 17 models. Only the Air is still widely available for Sep. 19 delivery

When you are stuck on "excited" are you reloading? I can't tell if reloading puts you at the back of the queue...
I was reloading, assuming that they just hadn’t gotten the store up yet. When I saw others completing their orders, I decided to stop reloading. Now I’m reloading on one device but not the other, and nothing is working. Still stuck on the “Excited” page 20 minutes in. What a disaster.

I also got a 9/25 delivery date at 8:02, so I switched to in-store pick-up. First time I haven’t been able to get delivery on launch day in years 😵‍💫
