Give me a break. In other words, they are going to have higher average selling prices because so many more Pros will be sold.

Who cares.
Apple cares.

Anyhow I'm not sure if people passing on the Air are predominantly going for the Pro. It seems anecdotally a ton of people are getting the iPhone 17 instead. Better battery life, more cameras, and way cheaper.

Apple Unveils iPhone Air: So Light, You’ll Think You Lost It

Cupertino, California — Apple today introduced iPhone Air 2, the world’s first smartphone so light, so thin, and so advanced that it has literally transcended the visible spectrum.

“People told us we couldn’t make a phone thinner,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. “So we made one you can’t see at all. It’s our most innovative absence yet.”

iPhone Air weighs 0.0001 grams, measures 0.0mm thin, and is crafted from a revolutionary new material Apple calls Vantaclear, a fusion of nothing and the concept of minimalism. It features an invisible edge-to-edge display that you’ll swear is there if you just squint hard enough.

Users can unlock iPhone Air using Face ID Quantum, which works by recognizing your aura. The device is powered by the A19 ZeroChip, a processor so efficient it draws power from pure confidence.

“iPhone Air isn’t just light,” said Jony Ive (from wherever Jony Ive is now). “It’s enlightened.”

Customers can preorder iPhone Air starting today for $1,699 (or $2,199 for the Pro Nothing model), including a complimentary empty box and biodegradable documentation to remind you you’ve bought something profound.

Apple Stores will begin carrying iPhone Air on November 31, 2026 — though you won’t see it, feel it, or hear it. You’ll just know.

When I heard about the Air I was like 'YES FINALLY' and then I saw the massive camera bump. What's the point in making a super slim phone and sticking a massive camera bump on it? It looks ridiculous. I hate the small bump on my 13mini as it is but went with it as all the phones they produce have a camera bump. I genuinely think SJ would have warped reality and figured out a way to have no bump. Maybe an array of small lenses down one side and use it as an old school top down camera?!

If they removed the camera (or figured out a way) I'd buy.

One easy way to fix sales of any iPhone model. Disable temporal dithering (and any other display shenanigans) on that model without telling anyone and watch sales EXPLODE.

That is too bad. I own one and amazed every-time I pick it up how much better it compares to my old 16 Pro or the 17 Pro I tried. When I had both the Air and the 17 Pro, I reached for the Air every-time, as it felt so much better and the screen seemed so much better being larger. Definitely more upsides to it than downsides for me.

Battery life is just as good as my 16 Pro was and I never use speaker, as have Airpods, so could care less about that.
I’m right there with you and it feels like I get more battery from the Air than my 16pro (which was my only concern). My priority is thin and light, so after my 12” MacBook was discontinued and iPhone Mini was discontinued, I should’ve known better

I find this surprising. I think it may be the cost. If they lowered the price by $150 that might work. Who knows? Or it could be the camera. Something doesn't add up.

The reason being, this is by far the bast phone I've had, as it's the first one that's pocketable (for my tastes).
But I can get two years out of it.

They should’ve released it with dual rear cameras and a silicon carbide battery. It’s a beautiful feat of design and engineering but even casual users I know are stymied by the single camera and decent-but-not-great battery life.

The 17 is the sweet spot. i have yet to hear any of my friends or colleagues praise their iPhone 17Pros - they almost have buyers remorse. Granted they are mostly not pros, just looking from the best from Apple. I don’t believe i personally know anyone who picked up an Air. Just Pros and 17s. I do have that one friend who is a fan boy till the end who has to be the one to tell everyone he preordered it and shows it off to everyone - yep, it’s orange. As a creative director - the 17 would be just great for me - it’s understated, fully capable, and actually a nice design.
