The Air doesn’t do big numbers in the U.S. because we suffer from Costco syndrome. We like big, fat, full of features that most can't even use to their fullest potential but will keep our lazy asses from moving even one foot to take a photo or charge the phone. All while falling for the BS marketing hype that this behavior somehow makes me pro? You know what pro is? An actual photographer with cameras, great glass and years of experience to back it up that gets paid to do it.

Exactly the reason I went with the air, after having the Max etc. I used maybe 10% of all the video and photo features. More important for me was the light weight, I spend a lot of time on my phone and was getting RSI from the heavy weight of the Max etc. My last phone was the 15 Pro, and the Air is noticeably lighter than that. I hope they keep developing these. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Or even someone who knows simply knows how to frame a shot regardless of the camera being used. Those iPhone photo competitions (can't remember who puts them out each year) are rarely won by the latest/greatest phones...

As a photographer, I can say the old cliche is still true:

The best camera is the one you have with you.

Oh absolutely. But I think we're splitting hairs on just about any model released in the last 5-7 years, which can take solid photos in most situations, and great photos if handled right.

Heck, a guy in my office used an iPhone 7 to take photos of his vacation, and he did such a good job with lighting and framing the shots, he ended up getting a few of them put onto a metal "canvas" and hung on his wall and they look incredible.

I’m not an expert on this stuff but are you sure? I set up my Air as a new device and restored my data from an iCloud backup and it brought over all my keys for Duo and other apps. I didn’t have to do anything on my part to make them work again.
That’s too bad. Can you not get all the information or migrate to new phone with the old phone to use for verification? Not to migrate data but to manually ensure it all gets moved over by having the original device.
thanks for help! I guess I would try when i get a new phone and otherwise figure smth out.

After tinkering with their website it appears that duo admin accounts are pulled from cloud. But it must be enabled by such admin org.

All 3rd party accounts can only be restored via physical backup.
My work is duo admin, while irs, nintendo, bestbuy, ibkr are added as 3rd party. Funny enough work 2fa would be easiest to restore anyways because I have backup email and sms text options.

In a hindsight better 2fa app could have been used for my 3rd party stuff. But at the time i already had 3 different 2fa proprietary apps for each service we use at work that i was fed up with them and just added personal keys to duo app.

And they want to tell me AI will takeover the world and jobs when we simply can not fix stuff like this.

Any theories on why the iPhone Air is more popular in China than other places?

Apple's iPhone Air sold out across online stores in China within hours of pre-orders opening on Friday, the South China Morning Post reports.

Demand for the iPhone Air reportedly surged immediately after pre-orders opened. Apple's online store and the official Tmall flagship both listed multiple color and storage configurations as unavailable within the first two hours of availability, reflecting even higher demand than the device saw in western markets last month. Prices begin at 7,999 yuan (approximately $1,122).

The iPhone Air was introduced globally in September but delayed in mainland China pending government approval for eSIM, which replaces physical SIM cards and enables slimmer smartphone designs.

The launch coincides with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's decision to authorize eSIM trials for smartphones, marking the first time Chinese users can activate a mobile number without a physical SIM card. China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom confirmed this week that they had received approval to begin commercial operations, paving the way for the iPhone Air to launch without regulatory restrictions.

Once again the Chinese market surprises us, lol.
Very interesting, I am guessing many of them are tired of the huge phones they get over there and many users who prioritise aesthetic over everything else felt they finally found a phone that’s for them.

Here comes the avalanche of slim Androids then, lol!

Everyone needs to test them in person.
Everyone has different grip width - many people blindly buy because can’t go wrong with any iphone.

I tested them in-store:
1) regular 17 is great on paper spec wise, but it is narrow for my hand. Handle is shaky and might drop easily. Strains hand.

2) pro 17 fits like a glove. But i know the specs and it is being 20gr heavier than my current 15pro will get ugly quick.

3) pro max - also fits well. But it is even bigger than ever this year in terms of weight. My wife has pinky curve because of pro maxes and i developed a wrist pain after couple months of using pro maxes. Not doing the same mistake.

4) air - grip is second best after 17 pro. A little slippery due to thinness but case should solve it. It is 20 grams lighter than 15 pro, 17 so this is the next best iphone 12/13 mini replacement while giving also old pro max style(6.5”) screen.

What does Samsung have anything to do with Apple sales?

The user said:

To which I shared an article, from today, about Samsung "giving up" on super thin smartphones amid low sales.

Does that help your understanding?

Who is actually hating this phone? People simply point out some of the negatives of the phone and some facts about it. This is not hate. All that really matters in the end is you are happy with the device you have. Not sure why people are so concerned with how others feel about a commercial device.

Air didn't sell well in China.

The talk on social media is the Air was approved with required firmware changes, which meant there was virtually zero inventory available on launch day. This is why all colors and storage sizes show the exact same 1-2 week wait time.

Use common sense guys. If it didn't sell well globally, why would it "sell out" within 5 minutes in China?

You know the old joke about "common" sense, right?

I have had the Air for a month and I love it. The last time I felt like this was my iPhone X, it just feels premium.

But I am not a pro and I don't do a lot of gaming, so it definitely isn't for everyone.

So far I have no issues with the battery, camera, or speaker.
