A phone is a portable device, so I put a lot of value in its ease of carrying and moving around. So its thin and lightness despite having a big screen is a huge plus for me. Second it is definitely the best in terms of durability. I never use cases and never will so the titanium frame with the ceramic coating II on the front and back has been proven to be extremely durable.

The camera and battery is better then my 14 Pro Max and the screen / selfie camera is amazing.

Have you not been on these forums for the few weeks before and after the AIR launch. People act like the Air killed their family. I personally don't care how others feel (Hell I ordered the new AVP, despite it getting clowned on more than any product I have ever seen).

Why not just get a Nokia 3310 if size is the issue. That’s way better at being portable. This thing is huge.
The same for durability.

Though the initial inventory might be sold out, don’t know how well it will sell in the region. But the Air is a good iPhone and there should be demand as usual.

Good to see Apple can selll 17 air in China

Wonder why we have not seen break down of material costs yet for each phone

Anyone heard the news Sammy stopped development of its new slim phone and production of its current model due to poor sales performance? I like the Air and would love to see it stick around for many model years to come.
It all comes down to sales performance. Apple has a far better market position in premium smartphone market than Samsung, so even if Air performs poorly according to Apple's standards, it might not be too bad. Even mini and Plus stuck around for a while before it was dropped. I think it is all but guaranteed to be around for the next 1-2 years at least.

Oh no does this foreshadow the impending death of the dual SIM iPhone in China?
I doubt that. Regulatory burden for eSIM is heavy since the Chinese government doesn't want Chinese to connect to foreign telecom providers too easily to bypass GFW. If every new phone is eSIM, I don't think the Chinese telecom could handle so many eSIM activation procedures. It's only a test for now.

Pro series are lighter as Apple switches back to aluminum, right? I think the weight is better based on what I felt at the Apple Store.
I'm sure that was the part of the plan with the first unibody iPhone. As it stands the 17 Pro weighs 206 g compared to the Air's 165 g, plus the 17 Pro is 7 g heavier than the 16 Pro because Apple chose to stuff as much battery as possible in the new phone. It should get lighter and less power hungry with consolidation from the C1/N1 chips, and better in the future with newer battery tech. That day is still off in the distance. Pro buyers evidently don't care that much about weight so Apple is giving them what they want.

The camera and terrible speaker killed the iPhone air, not the battery. If Apple improve the camera close to pro level and bring the pro speakers to air 2, it will be a winner

Today, you can see this was fake news. Or at least news completely out of context.

Chinese regulators required last minute changes to eSIM firmware. As a result, Apple had nearly zero inventory built up for shipping, but had enough to fill store shelves.

What's the stock like at Apple Stores today? It's 24 hours after Air became available on October 22, 2025. All colors and storage options are available for immediate pickup at 50 stores across China. Below are Beijing and Shanghai.
