Have you ever done anything on an Android device? Most web browsers are a pain to use, with terrible zoom and laggy scrolling. I usually try to find a dedicated app for everything to avoid using the web browser.

iOS devices are a treat to use, so just "doing stuff" is in itself a reward.

Or it could be that mobile safari reloads/refreshes tabs so often that the usage numbers are skewed.

I can only speak from experience, hundreds of Android phones purchased by my company(@ $9 a pop) are just collecting dust.

Funny, we have a bunch of iPhone 4s and 5 handsets collecting dust.

Mostly because they crapped out within a few months of us. They are the most delicate phones I've ever used/deployed/serviced/seen/dealt with.

I am on my 4th tablet, an iPad 4th Generation. I still own a Nexus 7 2nd Gen, but found it was slow at times even though it is running KitKat. The Bluetooth keyboards never quite worked properly with a Nexus 7. Although I do like having the ability to use a mouse on the Android OS and having the ability to customize the heck out of the OS. However, The iPad seems to have everything I need and use in a personal compute device. this now my primary personal Internet device at home and when traveling.:)

I let my kids use the Nexus 7 to play games on now.

I've replaced my life machine with a Dell Venue 8 Pro. It has 64GB built in, and a 64GB microSD card. Since it runs the full Windows OS, it can run iTunes, and every cloud service Apple and Google has. I can run Adobe Photoshop, Muse, Lightroom, and Illustrator on it no problem in a pinch.

Hooking it up to two external displays makes it even nicer. I get full HD out via one USB to HDMI and DVI out adaptor. BT keyboard and mouse, iTunes, iCloud, MS Office, iWork.com . . . . . . nothing is impossible, all on an 8" tablet that when I plug it into one USB 2.0 cable becomes a workstation.

I seriously have a drawer full of Apple TV's, iPads, iPod touches, a 13" MacBook Pro, and an iPhone collecting dust.

This, and I've heard but not verified that both Android and Windows Mobile based browsers register as desktop browsers so that they won't be sent to mobile version of websites.

I don't know how that part of the web works, but I still get a mobile site shoved in my face from time to time on iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile.

I used to work for Apple, and seriously found the opposite to be true.

Most of the users buying the iPad were buying it because some hipster friend of theirs told them to. They didn't know anything about it or how to use it, and after a year of one-to-one training they still didn't utilize a tenth of what the iPad could do.

On the other hand, users that got Android tablets, used them for the three things they want to do: update social media, surf the web/check email, stream media.

Hell, my mom has an iPhone now as per my recommendation ;) and she doesn't even know what the app store looks like, has never EVER used Pages or iMovie, and hasn't installed any apps.

All that to say, that personal experience is garbage. How much someone uses a device will always depend on the person.

Ha, Ha, Dream Your Dream in Your Virtual World !!!!!!

You FAILED !!!!!!

What You're Reiterating are ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE and Disgracing People who Bought i-OS Devices of Late !

Don't Make Light of Ordinary People's Wisdom They're NOT FOOL like Ya.

Have you? Chrome on Android is about as flawless a mobile browser as you could ask for.

As to your last comment... wow.

----------

Has anyone said this in reality or do we just regurgitate what we read on fan sites? Anyone I have ever known who has used a Nexus tablet device has been nothing but completely satisfied with it.

I am sure Chrome is a treat on my most high-end Android devices. However, most Android devices sold are not high-end. He did mention "cheaper". Devices that run Chrome flawlessly are not "cheaper" than the iPhone.

----------

Yes it's a good phone, it's been on the market from more than two years and they are still selling it, at a lower rate.

There are more iPhone 4s in use than any other phone....

----------

Since all the Apple rumors dried up this entire site just turned into one big fanboy fest. The articles are geared to entice these responses. How about do something positive such as accessory and app reviews or tips and tricks for a change? How about help new people that actually came from Android instead of having people bash it all the time. When I had the iPhone 5s for a brief time I would have loved to know some of the better apps for iOS. I ended up going back to Android but I still love technology. In the long run I really don’t see the purpose of this article. It’s just a drop of water in a 5 gallon bucket. Next thing we’ll see is an article telling us that Apple users played Angry Birds more than their Android counterparts. Or people use Safari more than Google Chrome. Is it really that important?

You think this is a fanboy site? The whole site is geared toward attracting trolls, not fans..

----------

Their profits would be higher on the 5C - that's purely hypothetical, considering the fact that they're not selling. I've yet to see an iPhone 5C in the wild here, TBH.

If you sell 10 million devices with a net margin of 50$, you're still making a bigger profit than when you sell 1 million devices with a net margin of 200$ - so yes, market share does make a difference, no matter what you've talked yourself into believing.

Huh? What does number of devices sold have to do with market share. More importantly, what does market share have to do with this article. I think a lot of people are confusing a lot of related, but very different terms. The results are chaotic, but amusing.

I own a 2012 nexus 7 and work recently gave me a 2013 Nexus 7. Chrome absolutely sucks on both and it boggles my mind that the platform holder would ship such a crappy browser as default on their premier device.

Scrolling performance and page loading continues to be horrible in mobile chrome. Firefox or dolphin on android are far superior.

Let's debunk your post Shall we? First if they crapped out within a couple months there is a warranty.
Second you mention you own 5 iOS devices and they are collecting dust, but you bought 5.

Oh yeah. You are 100% correct.

Oh wait - I find surfing on my Nexus 7 and GS4 (as well as my iOS devices) to all be the same "pleasurable" experience.

No idea what Android browsers you're using.. But chrome and firefox has always been great for me.

i find my nexus 7 terrible to browse the net on. everything is so small

Have you ever used a tablet that's not Nexus or one of the tablets that google is endorsing? Let's face it, the Nexus would cost twice its current price if google is trying to make money off the hardware. I had a friend who had one from Fujitsu(Arrows) with 2GB of RAM and the fastest Snapdragon processor. Using the default browser and maps was so laggy I had trouble zooming and scrolling. It cost as much as an iPad and I was astounded he even bought it.

I have; and I think you can't compare something priced at $100 to something that costs twice, three, four times the money. There will be compromises, but to say they are unusable like others suggest, that's not accurate.

I can only comment on my experiences which sound to be vastly different from yours.

I am not surprise. Apple is much simpler to use. Many android users don't know how to use their phones functionality.

I maintain that the majority of people who buy 100$ tablets don't have the money to buy more expensive ones. I'm aware of the fact that most people who post here can easily afford an iPad - and it's not surprising that the people you know are from the same social stratum. This doesn't change the fact that both in the US and in Europe, a large percentage of people are so poor, they can't afford a car, a laptop or an internet connection at home. Those people don't buy iPads. They buy 100$ Android tablets so they can e-mail using public WiFi access points.

And I maintian that most people who can only afford a $100 tablet won’t waste money on a $100 tablet. As a part of the market that cannot afford an iPad, I can tell you I certainly wouldn’t, and the only people I know that are buying a tablet as their primary computing device buy nice ones. Because, you know, we’re poor. Not stupid.

Say what?

Every phone has a learning curve if you've never used that OS before.

My father in law just got his first smartphone. Was able to start using his android phone immediately with very little instruction.

Well said. We tend to put users in certain buckets because it makes it so easy to criticize. Just because someone drives a beater does not make them poor. That person may make more money and have more disposable income then the person driving that $40,000 car.

Speak for yourself. It took be more than five minutes to find the battery percentage icon on my wife’s iPhone. And when I had my 5s it took me 10 minutes to find the factory reset option when I went to trade it for a Note 3.

A bit of a Comprehension problem I fear. I read his post as a Bunch of Iphone 4s and Iphone 5, not five ios devices. A bunch could mean 2 maybe 3.

Are you kidding? This article is almost 2 years old and the numbers refer to 2011. Also, you seem to assume that these are facts when in truth it's nothing but conjecture.

No I'm not kidding. Are you? Where's the source for android making money and how much?

My GF uses Chrome on her Mac all the time. I'm not sure why, but it is nice because when she uses my Mac she boots up Chrome and so doesn't mess with my open tabs in Safari.

Hmm, never thought of doing that. I might do that myself just to keep work and play windows separate.

mavericks screams on my 2012 fusion mini. love it.

But is it faster than Mountain Lion? I am post-downgrade right now, and I'm loving the speed.

What are you talking about?

The warranty has nothing to do with what I said.

I never said I bought anything . . . . the university I worked for did however.

You shouldn't open your mouth if you're just going to stick your foot in it.

True and I am glad you picked that up. However, a lack of comprehension is all good as long as it makes the commenter sound like they know what they are talking about.

Insults are not necessary. I was going by

I am glad that you posted what you were going by. Now where in that statement does it mention that I have 5 iOS devices that I personally purchased? Specifically of course.
