This is worldwide is it?

Nope, just the USA and Canada, where iOS devices dominate.

What does this actually mean? More so, what significance does this have?

The significance is unknown, since we don't know a lot of other variables.

For example, we don't know if one group uses apps or widgets or the web more often. Or if one group is more likely to visit sites with Chikita network ads.

We don't even know if it's caused by certain browsers constantly reloading web pages and artificially multiplying the number of ad impressions.

Like most reports of this type, it's not meant to mean anything expect "buy ads on our network". It's just a marketing ploy.

However, since North America trends toward iOS devices, it could just reflect what we already know: there's a lot of iOS users in North America. Especially iPad users.

You left out accusing me of being a Samsung paid shill - especially since my name has SAM in it!

I have sent multiple requests to Arn to have you permanently banned. You are not doing it right!!! You are supposed to:
1. Pick a side; preferably Apple
2. Use hyperbole, anecdotes, and bad car analogies to further your narrative.
3. Unflinchingly criticize anyone with a differing opinion.

People like you who use products based on personal use case regardless of vendor are, are, are...

Arrrrrggh... you're just doing it wrong.

I'm starting a petition to ban objective discourse on the interwebs. You are either with us or against us Sam, there is no in between.
 ,<-- I debated on putting this in because patently obvious, but...

Maybe you should try Chrome on KitKat or Jelly Bean? And do the scrolling test side by side with the 5S, same website, same wifi connection. You might be surprised which one scrolls faster.

You know what has a really fast web browser? Blackberry OS 10.2. Does anyone care? not really.

As long as the lag isn't massive, the average customer doesn't care. Same goes for the Galaxy S4. Now that's one of the slowest, laggiest devices I've ever used. My wife sold it after a month - and she usually keeps her phones for years. Still - the average person doesn't care and the things fly off the shelves like I don't know what.

----------

Again this assumption about iPhone 5C sales ... Do you have data ? Because Apple didn't released it ...

I saw quite a lot iPhone 5C in the wild ...

I was just countering your claim about iPhones and data plans, which is equally unsubstantiated. And it's a simple fact that I've never seen a 5C in the wild. Ever think that perhaps Apple hasn't released those numbers for a reason?

. Same goes for the Galaxy S4. Now that's one of the slowest, laggiest devices I've ever used.

As someone who uses several phones - I have to think that your wife had some other issue with the S4. Perhaps a defective unit or rogue app. Something.

Because the S4 I'm using is by far not the laggiest or slowest devices I've ever owned or used.

I don't say this merely to be contrary. I sincerely think your wife had a defective unit. That or you're speaking in slight hyperbole.

My post was in response to someone stating that the browsing was laggy on Android devices, so I gave my input and suggested a test to try them side by side. And try the scrolling test with the S4 and 5S side by side.

I tested the S4 and 5S side by side and the scrolling is faster on the S4, and that's with Jelly Bean.

Oh yeah. You are 100% correct.

Oh wait - I find surfing on my Nexus 7 and GS4 (as well as my iOS devices) to all be the same "pleasurable" experience.

No idea what Android browsers you're using.. But chrome and firefox has always been great for me.

I just got a Moto X. It didn't take long trying to browse using Chrome with it to find a laggy sputtery experience with a page that worked fine on an iPhone 5. But I thought even Android enthusiasts agreed that Chrome was not a very good browser on Android in terms of performance. My Nexus 7 will be here soon, maybe *that* has the magic browser that's as good as iOS's?

I also had one and mine sucked equally. Sorry. Perhaps this has been fixed by now but compared to other devices with the same processor (e.g. the HTC One), it was drastically slower. You could speed up things by using a different launcher, but the general lag never quite disappeared.

you might have to say which browser you were using. Samsung's browser (which AFAIK is a modified version of the stock Android browser) is drastically faster than Chrome. Chrome is slow on any Android device, including the Nexus 7 v2 (which is sitting in front of me). I'm not against Android - I own a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7 - but the browsing experience is definitely less enjoyable on Android than it is on any other major platform, including iOS. IMO, BB 10.2 has by far the fastest standard browser, followed by iOS and WP8. I find that pages load slower on WP8, but once they're loaded, scrolling is buttery smooth. On iOS, I do notice the occasional stutter (although that has improved lots with the iPaid Air's new processor). On Chrome, it's hit and miss - some websites render nicely, others are a total mess.

The problem being of course that the people who buy $100 tablets simply can't afford anything else, so the entire discussion is somewhat moot. A $100 tablet is still better than no tablet at all - and those people will never be buying iPads.

What a load of toss

I can afford a top of the line Mac Pro, but I might buy a $100 tablet.

Since all the Apple rumors dried up this entire site just turned into one big fanboy fest. The articles are geared to entice these responses. How about do something positive such as accessory and app reviews or tips and tricks for a change? How about help new people that actually came from Android instead of having people bash it all the time. When I had the iPhone 5s for a brief time I would have loved to know some of the better apps for iOS. I ended up going back to Android but I still love technology. In the long run I really don’t see the purpose of this article. It’s just a drop of water in a 5 gallon bucket. Next thing we’ll see is an article telling us that Apple users played Angry Birds more than their Android counterparts. Or people use Safari more than Google Chrome. Is it really that important?

I was using Chrome on the S4, but to clarify, I loaded the same page on both phones and then scrolled down the page. I have found that loading the same web page can be all over the place, one time it loads quick another it takes longer, and this is on any device, not just the S4 or iPhone. I pick a detailed page like msnbc.com, espn, cnn, etc, something with lots of graphics.

I use Chrome and Safari on the iPad Air, sometimes one seems faster than the other, but again, it's all over the place. I've had each of them crash several times on the Air, but I don't know if it's the browser or an iOS 7 problem. There are lots of reported crashing problems with the Air. I hope it gets worked out in an update soon.

amen to that.

I hope that too - my iPad Air is relatively stable, but the iPhone 5S has been a problem in this respect. I get tons of app crashes / force closes. It's a bit like Android was a couple of years ago :)

You exactly know why, but don't want do admit ....
Market share is NOTHING, since android, smartphones and tablets , are just gaining share selling cheap and crappy units alongside the few valid models .
And target for that kind of devices are people don't using internet on mobile at all, but looking for a "smartphone" or a tablet to use whatsapp and to play with candy crush ....
There are android smartphones that cost less than 150$ and tablets for 90$ .... Very easy to sell. But are they really usable ? Not at all ....

You have about as much solid proof as I do regarding the reasons why Apple devices tend to generate a tremendously larger amount of web data than Android phones.

You might be a quarter of the way right, but it's rest is mostly supposition, and yet another tired example of the pointless Battle Against Marketshare that's become so popular around here since Apple lost the mobile lead.

This is ANOTHER " IRRELEVENT CLAIMER ", Ha, Ha !!!
U.S. And Canada ONLY ?
Nope, in JAPAN i-OS Device Dominate Whole Entire Market Much Bigger Margin than in U.S. And Canada.
Even i-phone 5c Selling Much Better than Any Android Phones ! Phew !!

But people don't buy Android tablets because they think they're better than the iPad. They buy them because they can't afford an iPad.

That statement is far too broad. You need to add a few qualifiers in there when you get a minute. Personally, I don’t know a single soul who owns or has ever owned an Android tablet that couldn’t afford an iPad. And most people I know are married college students, so statisically way below the poverty level.

I think any further discussion is useless .... Because I have both (actually the S 4 is my son's phone) and there is NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING in S 4 faster than iPhone 5s.
I like the S4, plastic aside, but it is no faster than an iPhone 5 in daily use ...

Apple didn't lose anything .... The iPhone vs Android market share discussion is just plain stupid.
Give me iPhone 5s vs galaxy 4 vs HTC One sales numbers and we could speak about market share.

Next time will be "iPhone vs technology" numbers ?

I wouldn't call my Air unstable, but it is a bit annoying and disappointing to have it happen. I've had the App store crash several times too. I find the page reloading annoying too. I just hope that's not due to a lack of RAM.

I maintain that the majority of people who buy 100$ tablets don't have the money to buy more expensive ones. I'm aware of the fact that most people who post here can easily afford an iPad - and it's not surprising that the people you know are from the same social stratum. This doesn't change the fact that both in the US and in Europe, a large percentage of people are so poor, they can't afford a car, a laptop or an internet connection at home. Those people don't buy iPads. They buy 100$ Android tablets so they can e-mail using public WiFi access points.

That hasn't been what I have found. :)

I could start linking here a lot of benchmark, quite a lot of them browser based, where S4 is heavily outperformed by iPhone 5s (and we both know how hard Samsung tried to cheat on benchmarks) ... but it's useless since this is "different for what you have found"

Let's compare apples with apples, shall we? Let's compare the S4 to the 5S in, say, Germany, France or the UK.

But I'm guessing this is pointless - you live in a country where iOS is largely meaningless, so you're trying to somehow bend the numbers so they fit you personally. I can't blame you for doing that, but at this point, I've decided that I won't carry this discussion any further.

I'm quite disappointed by Safari 64 bit, I strongly suspect it is flawed by a memory leak problem and I'm waiting for a fix from Apple ...
I can suggest you to install Mercury Browser: my web browsing experience is very good again.

Who's talking about benchmarks? I said that in a side by side test of the same web page loaded on both devices the S4 scrolls faster.
