Is that actually meant to sound like a good thing?Still a larger capacity than every single iPhone prior to the iPhone 6.
Apple has to be doing something with the 5C. Either it's going away and the 5S fills it's slot or Apple sticks 5S specs into a 5C case. We don't know what this battery is for but MR gets all outraged anyway. Because I'm sure Phil (or maybe Joz since he's the iPhone marketing guy) and Jony got in a room and said how can we make battery life worse for everyone.Only a year ago an entire army of people on here were denying the existence of the 5.5" iPhone purely on the basis that no parts were leaked.
My iPhone 6 has great battery life. I've gone down to just under 10% battery remaining after a day of heavy use but most days I'm rarely under 30%. I like the continued efforts to make the phones thinner and lighter.
Ok well I chose not to get my panties in a bunch over a leaked photo of a battery. If we find it its for the 6S and that device gets crap battery life then I'll get mad.We don't of course, it may not be. All conjecture, but it's not unheard of for apple to shrink a battery while making the device more energy efficient, thereby keeping overall battery life the same. The problem with smaller battery is room for error. When some app crashes, or does something stupid (including Apple native apps), and it starts to suck the life of the battery, all those efficiencies go out the window, and it just means your phone is going to die much quicker with a smaller battery.
Is that actually meant to sound like a good thing?
"This car is still faster than every other car we made before... except last year's model... which was faster"
See, and maybe I'm just being crazy here, but maybe we could've had all those power saving efficiencies in conjunction with the battery size of the 6 and have a longer lasting phone as a result?Maybe the power saving changes in iOS 9 will cover the smaller battery and still provide the same battery life. Makes room for the new panel, keeps the phone close to current size and lasts as long as it does now.
How do we know this is for the 6S. The site that leaked it didn't say.See, and maybe I'm just being crazy here, but maybe we could've had all those power saving efficiencies in conjunction with the battery size of the 6 and have a longer lasting phone as a result?
Madness, I know.
That's a watermark from the site where the image was leaked via.
I was talking from the side of it being destined for the 6s, in which case I would be very annoyed as it completely defeats the purpose of iOS 9's power saving settings. It totally depends, firstly you are assuming this is a) A Genuine part and b) destined to be in the iPhone 6S 4.7"
It could just as easily be the battery for the 6C, or a 4" version of the iPhone 6S, in which case it will more than suffice.

If this is destined for the 6c or 4" model, then it's great, because that would bring very decent battery life I would imagine. But I've no interest in a 4" model, I want to upgrade from my 5s.
So the phones is thicker yet the battery is smaller? That is disappointing. Of course, a more power efficient A9 chip could help things, but only so much. You also have the screen and radios that draw power...
No matter how much more 'efficient' battery life is made through OS tweaks, the last thing Apple should be doing battery wise is reducing the capacity. People don't want the same battery life. They want battery life extended.
jikes dont wet your pants i didnt say the iPhone itself sucks just its battery life. imagine the internals of the 6 and the thickness of the 5S with the remaining space being battery. most people throw it into some ugly hello kitty case anyway so who cares if its a bit thicker
i barely ever hit the 6 hours mark without it dying, especially now with AM
