Don't get the BikeLogic crap, it's all show I will give the one one I have cheap junk does work.

I have done away from all these and now use a LifeProof Case with the Bike or GoPro Mount. Much better solution by far!!!

http://www.lifeproof.com/shop/cases/iphone-4-4s/

If you get the GoPro mount like I did you can now mount to all GoPro adapters, window, dash or your car, bike, on the end of a pole when snowboarding, underwater, absolutely love it!!

What do you use to attach the phone to the GoPro? I thought they only woked with their own cameras etc

The LifeProof case makers make a locking holster that mounts to any GoPro mount. It is on LifeProof's site.

And for those on a mountain bike, like me, to eliminate that last bit of wobble with gopro plastic mounts (mainly when actually using a heavier gopro) mount it to the bike with the GoBig Mounts http://cl.ly/DrEE

Thanks for the Lifeproof info, I didn't know they made the adapters too.

Did you use the other mount mountain biking? I am petrified to attach the phone to my mountain bike in the woods. I have no problem with the FR301 but it's so small and sits so flush that even if I crash it has yet to be hit. Not sure I'd be so lucky with the iPhone!

The other mounts I have used wouldn't last out of the parking lot, and I didn't trust the build quality to go that far, once I got the product and put my phone in I saw scratches on the phone from the case.

With the lifeProof I have peace of mind, no way it will come of the bike with the locking mechanism and the case lets you take the phone off the bike and mount other places( I use a joby to mount in a tree or on a rock, with the gopro tripod adaptor) same case no need to take the phone out from its protection.

I also use he same sit up for my dash mount in my car but with the gopro suction cup mount, and I have a head mount, and chest, etc!! Worth it! Plus they just came out with a 60 fps iPhone 4s app that does slow motion also!

Oh plus on the bike you can mount it below the handlebars on the stem so if and when you crash your phone is safe!

But then you can't see anything! :)

I'm really not looking to map with the phone. I use the FR301 for that.

How long does your battery last when riding? I did a 2 hr hike with the phone at 80% and it died when I got back to the car. That was gps and music. I'm sure I can do things to optimize it better, but the 301 does 13 hrs and my Shuffle is pretty close to that.

CADer,

With the Lifeproof/GoPro adapter/GoBig mount, are you able to switch between landscape and portrait?

Yes gopro mounts allow for rotation and changing to landscape, with the addition of the gopro extensions, thou no ideal as each extension adds more possible wiggle if filming video, repositioning the mount may be the best.

The lifeproof case does not rotate.

Looks pretty cool! Love the magnetic feature!

Have you used it?

I have a few concerns:

1- It looks pretty easy to put on the mount, and thus pretty easy to take/fall off. The videos on the site show some great mtn biking but what happens when you crash, seems like a slight twist an it falls off. Does it have require a push and turn or anything?

2- As far as the mounting position on a bike it wouldn't work for me as that position is too exposed, on a crash that is sure to get hit, screen first. Thou good positioning is near impossible on a mtn bike.

3- While I love the magnetism and all the ideas this case has, it is way too exposed to the elements for everyday mountain biking, all I can see is dirt, mud and rain getting in the many, and I do mean many openings for the case. Honestly, a case that easy to take off and put on doesn't need access to the sim card tray.

4- What holds the bottom half of the case on? Is it secure? Can I swing it downward and would it stay on?

With that out of the way I would love to try this out and get some real user feedback!

Pros don't crash! :)

Seriously though, cool mount, but it took me years to put my FR301 on the mtn bike. I'll be on my 3rd iPhone before I try that! lol

Quad Lock™ Deluxe Kit - iPhone 4/4S
USD $69.95

It seems like this one is the less modification on the bike in order to mount the iPhone and still gives you a clean look. However, the iPhone case is not as good as Rokform Rokbed v3 iPhone 4/4S Case in term of functionality.

My biggest concern with this one (just going by the pic) is the what look to be rubber o-rings holding it on. That trend started a few years ago on bike computers and I've easily snapped one moving pieces around. The bike computers weigh way less than an iPhone.

I did end up going with an Arkon case (sorry CADer - I loved your solution but way too much for my checkbook!). It's OK, I've only had a chance to use it once. I have to make some mods and I'll take some pix and post them.

Reviving my old thread for consideration with an iPhone 5. Something weatherproof would be a plus.

There are many more since my last post but still I live you want some degree of weatherproofing and I need assurance that it isn't going to die when I crash riding downhill on the rocks.

This is why I still recommend the Life-proof case with Bike mount. And now that they have a case for the 5 without a crappy screen film even more reason to get it.

I'm not only looking for a iPhone mount for my mtn bike, but would also like to use the extra kinetic energy of my riding to charge it, so I can run Navigon while riding without killing the battery. Any such animal, i.e. a USB charger powered by the bicycle?

I have a 4S now, but will get a 5S when it comes out. That's what I want a mount for.

I think their was a kickstarter project on that I saw a time ago. I will have to find it again.

IDK if this will work for you:

Just got this Topeak mount after looking for a good one for a while. You have the option to mount it on the stem or the stem cap. I have mine mounted on the stem cap.

You can take the cover off (which I normally do), but it seems like it would do really well if it started raining.

There is a note with the case that says if you have any protective film on the back and sides, that it'll most likely peel off.

Also, I had to file the hole for the headphones to make it a little bigger.. it's a pretty tight fit and mine is relatively small.

After filing, I have absolutely no gripes with this mount.

I've decided to postpone my idea of charging and iP{hone and using GPS. I'm going to buy a new bike (and retire a 22 yr old Rockhopper) in the next few months, so may revisit after that.

I did end up with a cycle computer setup that doesn't require having the iPhone out. I am using the Cyclemeter iOS app together with some Bluetooth monitors from Wahoo Fitness. These include a heart rate monitor (Blue HR), a cadence/speed sensor (Blue SC), and a display device (RFKLT) I mounted on the stem. The iPhone feeds the display from the Cyclemeter app while riding, so I can monitor all kinds of stuff (cadence, speed, distance, duration, heart rate, etc).

I need to start monitoring how much battery life is consumed on rides. I might start looking for an enhanced battery case.

To power and charge an iPhone on your bike, simply buy an external battery pack, like the Anker ones, and keep it in your saddle pack. Then run a lightning cable along the bike frame, held in place with cable ties.
