Waiting for the day that a cop grabs somebody’s phone while doing this.
They would be breaking the law by doing so. Of course, you also have some cops doing things like kneeling on people's necks until they die. The answer to both of these isn't a technological one, like fiddling with the software on the phone, the answer is to have cops be more accountable for their actions. And get police unions/organizations to stop closing ranks around bad cops, protecting themselves instead of the public they've sworn to serve.

I’m in MD with a MD DL, but I still only get the option for adding an AZ DL. Tried rebooting. Running iOS 15.5. Anyone else in MD had success?

Was able to do the scans to add it, but then got a notification that it needed more information and had me sign in to the MVA website. There, I need to verify that it actually was me who completed the add to Wallet, by entering a code they’re mailing me in 3-5 business days. So much for instant gratification!

Until they claim the scanner isn't working and grab your phone to make it work better. Cops will do a lot of shady things unfortunately and should not be trusted at all.
At that same interaction, they can also murder you and say it was self defense. The problem in both of these scenarios is not the phone, it's bad cops. The solution is not "don't put the driver's license on the phone", the solution is to hold bad cops accountable.

Timing is also key. If the officer requests for materials, you should be fine to say, go into the glove compartment at that point, as opposed to reaching when it wasn't prompted. Do keep your motions smooth and slow though.

Another thing to suggest is if you're pulled over at nighttime or in low light/dark conditions, turn on the interior lights to the front seats! I've seen officers follow your hands with their flashlights, but with the front cabin fully lit, it does put them at better ease, causing less issues.

1. Emergency flashers on.
2. Trans in park and motor off.
3. Dome light on.
4. Window open hands out over ledge.
5. License, registration and insurance in hand or up under the visor.

This combination of things might save your life from a nervous or incompetent cop.

Got my MD DL added to the Wallet. It took a few minutes for DMV to verify your DL with the photo that is taken in the process.

That sure is a lot of requirements, caveats, and very limited support. Maybe this will be useful in a decade but the more details that come out about this, the less useful it seems.

Police won't take it, TSA still reserves the right to check more thoroughly, the liquor store probably won't accept it (I had to teach them that they could accept Apple Pay.)

Maybe if you're a really frequent flyer who is also TSA prescreened.

I read a local (DC area) article about this last night and they said TSA at BWI and Reagan National are now accepting these digital IDs but ONLY if you have PreCheck. I guess they decided to add the scanner equipment in the PreCheck lanes first before adding them to all lanes. I do have PreCheck and I'll be flying out of BWI in July, so I'll try it out. The article didn't mention Dulles at all (the other major airport in the DC area), so my assumption is that they aren't supporting digital IDs yet there.

Other than that, it's not very useful right now but it will become more useful as more places accept it for more uses. Give it time, but I don't think it will require a decade.

Sorry it didn’t work. Good luck for a change. Pls keep us apprised!

I tried again this morning and it worked. It took a minute or two to go through the "scan your card, now turn your head, now close your eyes" routine and then about two minutes for the state to verify my photo. Then my phone buzzed with a notification that my ID was ready in Wallet. Very easy!

The only downside now is waiting for the MVA to mail a code to you for verification on their site. Hopefully it's received by Wednesday next week.

Mail a code? I wonder what situations are kicking off extra verification. Mine was done almost immediately.

It'll be nice to see more widespread adoption of this... especially for use as a stopgap measure if you lose your DL and are waiting on the replacement (especially if you don't have another form of government-issued ID)

Live in Maryland. Took 5 times. You will need a very well lit room with nothing on the wall behind. Otherwise it will deny you with the worlds worst message. "Unable to add your license to wallet". Why ?
