I was sorely tempted by the Duo. Been doing stuff in 7.6 sized windows on my iPad Pro to see what it felt like. 🙂

I think the inner screen would be usefully sized, and closed it would be ok in the pocket. But I really like and use the telephoto lens on my 15 Pro Max and would really miss that. And currently MagSafe wallets don’t work with it either due to the alignment of the MagSafe charging on the Duo. I really like my MagSafe wallet when travelling light.

So it’s a ‘no’ for gen 1 and we’ll see how things develop.

Absolutely have; there are plenty of reviews out there that crease is good, but can't be unseen, just like the under-screen camera being visible. That would annoy me too. But as always, who cares what I think? I'm not buying it; you do you.

I think the bigger issue with existing wallets is that they just don't fit - they're too tall and are designed around a top opening. I'm curious if there's enough space for someone to design a side-opening wallet.

I will say that most people who own foldables from the past couple years are pretty clear that the creases are much less noticable when you are actually using the thing. They are primarily visible off-axis. And the Duo's seems a step beyond that.

Yes, but unfortunately it doesn’t have the same pop as a screen without matte. You can even see the difference between the Front screen and the inner screen during the presentation.

Still undecided if I should get the 18PM or the Duo.

Been using the PM form factor since XS Max so this will give a totally different daily experience.

I rarely use the 4x or 8x zoom on the 17PM so the 17/17e camera should be fine.

Underdisplay potato camera – probably won’t use it unless it’s FaceTime.

Another hesitation is spending AUD 3.5k now and then they release a completely new form factor / all glass curved edges iPhone XX next year.

I know what you mean. I’ve always gotten the iPhone with the best camera systems because I wanted the best photos. Now that I have my wildlife/sports kit (Nikon Z9 plus telephoto lens) and underwater kit (Nikon Z5II in dive housing plus strobes), I feel like I can compromise on iPhone cameras to try the new form factor. Should be interesting to have a bigger/better screen for viewing photos on.
 
Have tested the Samsung Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra, the Duo layout similar to the Fold8 is simply uncomfortable, was hoping for a Fold8 Ultra layout that is much more useful and user friendly. I am also not sold on the fold screen on the fold models, crease will be visible and felt always.
 
I have been really thinking about this and I am starting to switch to being on board. I for one always start off every iPhone I get by putting a matte screen protector on so the inner screen already being matte is excellent to me.

I also 3d printed it for size comparison sake and I think the overall dimensions are really nice. It is wide but it is manageable, it fits fine even in gym shorts pockets, and it is really thin and large when unfolded. I am considering getting rid of my full size e-reader and just reading on this instead. Still have a little time for final decisions and might go look at the Fold8 some as well but I am starting to come around on it.
 
Talking about size comparisons, found this on threads. Does anyone have a similar image but with the 12 mini or 13 mini included?

I'm in, I've been curious about foldables but am deeply ingrained in Apple's ecosystem. That and I'm a sucker for new tech.

I don't use the cameras at all apart from snap shots, I have other mirrorless cameras that I use for anything important.

Like many others, there's three things that give me pause: the incoming iPhone 20, crease/hinge durability and at AUD$3500 this phone is damn near MacBook Pro territory price wise so would need to be at minimum a 3-year phone for me.
 
I've wanted a foldable since they first came out. My eyes are old & I'd appreciate the extra space to see content. I have an iPad Mini only because at cat shows they use an app & its easier to deal with on the bigger screen & I could ditch it. However, this Duo thing just isn't appealing enough. Like others, I'm going to wait for further iterations & advancements & will get the 18 Pro Max & likely the 20th anniversary phone next year. At some point, though, I will get a foldable.
 
Gosh no, almost $2500 for me with taxes and case added in, plus I still love my Air, and might upgrade to the 2 in the spring.
