Buy the AppleCare+, and then accidentally drop your phone hard when the crease gets too much for you. Presto! Brand new phone. 😄

Maybe the duo 3 or 4, let's see how it develops. Also, it's €2400. They pushed iphone 16 (yes, 16) up to €1000, and the 17 now costs as much as a pro not long ago, so the duo suddenly looks not as expensive in comparison. But still, it now goes for a month's average salary in western Europe, gotta start saving up for this.

Nice cases. Wish it didn't have the branding slapped on it. The other negative is that it doesn't protect the most important aspect of the phone—the front screen, if dropped.

Ditto. It would be nice to have just one device when traveling, but the camera specs are what’s holding me back.

I’m currently using the 17 Pro Max. I actually used the Air for a couple of weeks but ended up returning it because the camera, along with a few other things, were compromises I just couldn’t make. I ended up upgrading from the 15 Pro Max to the 17 Pro Max instead.

I’m worried I might feel the same way about the Duo as I did with the Air... love the idea of having one device, but not at the expense of the camera and other features I’ve gotten used to.

I always buy several cases to see which one I end up liking. I’ll definitely pick up the Apple case and probably a few more 3rd party. I don’t care about drop protection as I’ve never dropped a phone or iPad Mini in my life…. I just wanted to be the lightest and thinnest case possible. I’ve never ever used a screen protector, never will, and have never broken a screen. In the end, I actually might go naked with this one. After all, that’s what AppleCare is for…..emergencies.

Lol, I've been on the look out for good clear duo cases. Of course, since it's so soon theres not really that many options, especially more durable ones. It seems so many of the ones listed now don't protect the camera button, just leave a cutout for it.

Also, I haven't shopped for cases in so long but they are so expensive!

MKBHD's preview mentioned the under display camera in the inner screen and said the quality is average.

Apple also doesn't mention its spec or anything.

I would've preferred the same punch hole camera from the outer screen in the same spot.

LACK of Face ID will potentially be an issue.

True, that you can "unlock" using Apple Watch, as you do with the MacBook.

however, websites, banking sites, and logins etc, it will be a PAIN to always reach for Touch ID. (as I do now with the MacBook Pro)

FaceID is something that we have all grown accustomed to, and removing it for the iPhone may not be so easy to swallow.

It will sell like hot cakes no matte the price because it's the coolest and freshest Apple product in years.
But people will always complain about anything new and different.

Talking about complaints... Imagine the price if it had 3 cameras, Face ID and Lidar...
It would start at $2500 and people would have a fit over it...
I think Apple played it safe with a "sensible" price for a first generation foldable and it will work.
Next year they will upgrade to a Pro Model for sure but at a higher price.

It’s gorgeous, but I’m still happy with my 17 Pro. Maybe the Duo 2 or 3 will pull me in.

Having a near-iPad mini in my pocket would be really cool, though…
 
I find it rather strange that many of the same people that had problems with the iPhone Air (which they called compromises) are the same people lusting for the Duo with a higher price and just as many compromises.

Yep probably the 512GB model since I don't need that much storage. Can I just add it to my Applecare One and remove something like my older Apple Watch Ultra 1?
 
Probably not, $2k minimum is a lot, and I think I'd miss the better cameras/processing on other phones if I was in the market.

But I'm probably a bad example. I've never been one of those people who changes phones every year when there's a new model. And what causes me to buy a new phone is generally not new features, but simply that my current phone is no longer up to snuff.

EDIT: That said, it looks remarkable, better than I thought it would. And Touch ID is a bonus in my mind, I just prefer it.
