Here's a picture of an SMS alert and the backlighting.

It's not as difficult as the pictures make it seem, but yes, it's more difficult than it should be.

I ordered the brown Casio G-shock last week and just received it today. I was initially going to get the black one, but I already ordered a black Pebble (who knows when the hell that's going to show up?!) Anyways, I had always considered getting a G-shock, so the BT functionality was enough of a tipping point for me to place an order.

My initial impressions from my first 15 minutes with tinkering with it:
-The watch bezel and strap are glossier than I had expected.
-Connecting with my iPhone5 was easy. You have to download the G-shock from the app store, and the app must be running in the background in order to receive notifications on the phone.
-Email alerts run on 5, 10, or 15 min intervals. When an alert is received, it shows the email address of the most recently received email.
-Phone calls show up as Incoming Call
-When you use the Phone Finder feature, you have to go into the app to turn off the alert. It worked even when my phone was set to vibrate.

That's it for now.

COOKOO watch

Here are some more pictures of the COOKOO watch!

The box is very nice. It can be reuse as a birdhouse (said on the sticker behind the package)!

I ordered the blue version. Like V3rn said, the band is replaceable and since the watch face is the same as the black version I figured that I would have an easier time finding a black band than a blue one. It is very well-built and quite big (3/4" thick). The silicon band is very nice. Ve3n pretty much covers everything as far as the feature goes.

One thing that I read from COOKOO Facebook page is that watches with the bird logo will be limited production for kickstarter backers only. The newer watch will come with a "cookoo" logo instead.

I am also a backer of the Pebble. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the watch will be ready until the beginning of next year. It would be interesting to be able to compare both watches side-by-side since they seems to be developed for two very different use cases.

Citizen Proximity TUAW Review

Received it for Xmas. Tried it out for a couple days and I'm returning it. This TUAW review sums it up better than I and I'm lazy.

Just preordered

I just pre-ordered the Pebble in Jet-Black... I missed Kickstarter backing, but should get it in the next few months... $150 isn't too bad, relative to some of the others out there and it seems to have a lot of functionality.

I'm leaning toward the Pebble but the rumor mill is churning hard that Apple will release a watch this summer.

I hate being an early adapter!

I own one and am very pleased. As for battery usage, I get about a week out of a charge for the watch. My iPhone battery seems the same as before I got the watch, heavy usage I charge it once a day.

They are still developing the software for it, as of right now it only alerts for phone calls, texts, calendar events, out or range of the phone, charge phone. It shows weather and stock. Email and other stuff is supposed to come out soon.

I am a fan of mine as well. Great start.

Just bought the Citizen, been wearing it for a week. The watch is super sturdy, and very attractive. Sadly the bluetooth connection is horrible. I'll probably return it and get something more reliable.

Which version do you have? Looks interesting.

Finally received my black Pebble today. Updated the software and made a few test calls, texts, emails, and alarms. So far everything is working nicely. The vibration notification is very noticeable as well. I'll put it through the paces today and see if anything changes.

so will this bring a return of the watch? I thought it was great I could finally stop wearing watches once I got a decent cell phone. it would be nice to have something for missed calls and such sometimes. but that does not happen often to me.

The watch has never once gone away. It's still an excellent device and accessory. In fact, I'm wearing my GShock right now! http://i.imgur.com/GBZjNYy.jpg

I eyeball them all the time. I thought about buying the victory model and put a metal band on it. The only issue I have is they seem very thick.

Yeah, I think it looks about 3-4mm thicker than my seamaster. I think that charging it will become a PITA too, I have an automatic movement and am used to just wearing it.

I'm Watch iPhone 5 connection problems

Hi all, cant find a thread for this so I thought I'd ask here...

I bought an I'm Watch yesterday http://www.imsmart.com/en?gclid=CPbusubavrYCFQfKtAodOnYAjw

Really nice interface, smooth responsive touch screen and nice design/ features when they work!

However for the watch to work you have to remain tethered by bluetooth to your iPhone. The only way to do this is using personal hotspot, however when you lock your iPhone's screen personal hotspot stops (to save battery I think) and the watch disconnects, so you have to unlock your phone and go to the personal hotspot screen again before the watch will reconnect. This defeats the purpose of the watch because without a tethered bluetooth connection, you cant receive or make calls, or get any messages/notifications.

Does anyone have one of these Watches, who has fixed this issue or does anyone know how to maintain a constant personal hotspot connection even when the screen is locked?

thanks so much for your help

iPhone-enabled Bluetooth Watches

MetaWatch users: do you really think it's worth it? I'd like to order one, but I've read several stories about issues with the BT connection and the firmware in general.

Also, is it possible to have a MetaWatch and a BT headset, both connected at the same time to an iPhone 5?

EDIT: In general all reviews I've read say that while the MW has a lot of potential, the firmware is still very poor featured.

Since the 1.35 firmware update (1.4 coming out soon), I've had no more problems with connectivity, frozen watch or anything else. To me it's solid as a rock now. Very happy with it.
