With the iPhone being out for almost 20 years, Apple has managed to cram a lot of features into the iPhone. It’s difficult for me to imagine what else Apple can add. If you could get ahold of John Ternus and have him add one feature, what would it be?

I would have him add a duress PIN. I think that’s an amazing feature that Apple should have added a long time ago.

There are many jailbreak tweaks that I would like Apple to implement. Fortunately, some of them (for better or worse) have already happened.

But, as of this particular moment and because I was thinking about it yesterday, being able to send a text from the lockscreen would be nice. And I'm not talking about replying to one, I'm talking about starting one. Right now, if you want to send a text, you have to unlock the phone, open the Messages app, find the thread you want (or start a new text) and then put in your message and send.

With BiteSMS, sending from the lockscreen was possible.

Another would be the equivalent of Activator, being able to redesignate physical buttons, taps and swipes for whatever you wanted them to be.

And Netaltalk would also be cool. Connecting to your iDevice as a shared drive from your Mac. iFile, being able to explore the file directory of your iDevice from the device itself (beyond what the Files app gives you). Netatalk and iFile were instrumental to getting transparent widgets on my homescreen.

Oh! And weather animations from the weather app as an overlay (with transparency) on the lockscreen and homescreen. I had that for years.

Just a few for now.

  • Pattern-swipe to unlock; I like it a lot more than entering a PIN.
  • A feature like the "My Filters" option in the Samsung photos app which allows you to make a filter that matches the color tone/grading of any other photo in your album. I used an app like that on iPhone many years ago, but it would be better if it could be done natively in the iOS Camera app.
  • More control over the interface; colors, fonts, sounds, etc.
  • A DeX-ish desktop option for iOS.
  • A micro-SD card slot, which I know will never happen but I can still dream.

Personally what I would love to see from Apple again regarding new iPhone features are the following:

- 120 Hz Promotion Display in 5.4 inch form factor
- small dynamic island
- Same screen brightness and dimming as Pro series iPhones
- Latest Axx Pro processor with a minimum of 12GB RAM
- updated MagSafe charging
- Silicone Carbon battery for longer battery life
- Latest Bluetooth/WiFi
- USB-C 3.0 port
- 48 megapixel main fusion camera/48 megapixel Telephoto or Ultra Wide Angle camera

and available in the colors the 12 mini or 13 mini came out in.

Make this a separate mini line with storage configurations starting at 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

Of course this is a pipe dream however wouldn't it be nice if Apple would put one of these iPhones out? You know they are capable of doing this but unfortunately I doubt we would ever see something as amazing as this in real life but since the title of this thread is "other iPhone feature you want" this is what I would want for a new iPhone.

Oh that’s a good one. I want them to go to telephoto as the default of dual camera setups.

Id appreciate if Apple gave us the option to install another OS on the phone. Especially for phones that can't be updated to a major OS release.

Someone mentioned a DeX like experience and I agree, bring Stage Manager to the iPhone. Should be a fairly simple job. I would imagine that this is something they have in the works that will be released with the Fold or iOS 28.

Talking about jailbreak tweaks:
-Infinidock
-more rows and columns

Beside that:
pressure on developers to finally offer one and! the right dark icon.
(Yes, some apps have the false dark icon - if you know, you know)
It is still a mess..a horrible mess.

Thinking inline with a duress pin, I would like privacy to be more than a talking point. For instance, there’s nothing stopping Apple from integrating DeFlock into Maps. In fact, there isn’t much Apple can’t do at this point, and they choose to rest on their laurels with their incremental update iPhone money printer.

I'd point out stretching iOS to fit larger screens instead of rebuilding it was a complete disaster. Either fire and rehire the design team or get somebody who knows about ergonomics in to give the UX team a crash course on how crucial elements like device controls and notifications should not be out of reach of a single thumb. Palm solved these problems with webOS already but nobody seems to have noticed.

I want on the iphone fold the automatic swap from ios to ipadOS when i unfold it
ipadOS and apps are far better on that aspect ratio than on iOS one

Is "no camera bump" something I can wish for? I am envious of my Dad's 16e for sitting so relatively flat on the table. I miss not having my phone sitting at an angle on my desk.
This is largely why I waited two and a half years to upgrade from an iPhone 5 to a 6+. The bump has since become a fugly boil and Apple seems to be bent on turning the entire back into one giant lens (or set of lenses). If I wanted a camera, I'd buy one.

Of course, since I don't use cases, the usual responses around here of 'you're just going to slap a case on it', or 'who stares at the back of their phone anyway' aren't relevant to me.

It's also been said that right now, technologically, you can't have the awesome camera without the bump. That's unfortunate, and hopefully there will be a breakthrough at some point. However, Apple seems to consider the bump as part of their branding. So I'm not so sure that when it does become feasible, Apple would make the camera flush again.

I completely agree with you. Personally I’d gladly take a worse camera if it meant having a completely flush back.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. But there are more customers out there who want a camera with the functions of a handheld computer/game console/media device, and the ability to make calls and text messages than there are customers like us.

What's funny about the case argument is that 90% of cases have a bigger bump around the camera lens to "protect" the camera bump!

I don't necessarily want a thicker case to make it flat, either. #1 reason why I didn't get an iPhone Air because the camera mountain on the back. That thing weeble-wobbled on the table worse than my car when I hit potholes.
