not only does it feel sooo much faster, when i triple tap my home button it opens my garage doors

Updates always seem faster because it's basically doing a hard reboot of the hardware in the process. Your phone will bloat up again after a few days of use...

And as Lepton pointed out yesterday, stopping a backup by clicking on the "x" MAY cause the backup file to be corrupted and not available later.

It would be such a shame if my 1/8th completed backup wasn't available to restore my iPhone!

Just some info guys
I find the phone runs much better
if I turn it right off. and then turn it on again.
I do it every 2/3 days and never have an issue

Well my SMS and contact lag seems to be fixed. However, I am still getting crappy 3G signal. Had a dropped call when handing off from 3G to Edge.

WTF: I cannot turn the phone off, the home button loads up favorites...nice update Apple.

****ing hell who beta tests your stuff? a blind monkey with a gorilla ****ing it up the arse?

Hear, hear! I'm scared, very scared, to update again, after all the Error 6 messages I received last time I updated a few weeks ago :( I do not want to deal with that crap again. *Sigh* So when do I make the leap of faith?!?!?

I just finished the update and they still haven't addressed the incredibility slow application installs. Apps tend to sit at the "installing" status with the progress bar at the end for a few mins.

They also haven't fixed the issue with updating applications and it placing the updated version on the last screen. Every time I get my apps setup how I want, I do an update and it now my app is at the end. Its very annoying especially when you have a lot of applications.

Wish list off the top of my head:

- Separate volume control for applications, sharing it with the ringer means I miss many calls if I forget the volume low.
- Vibrate should mute apps
- Why can't I assign the camera to double click home button or any other application ?!
- Ring tone settings for calendar and email
- Push support for something other then MobileMe (Hell, I would even settle for Yahoo at this point)

Many people say 'this update makes my phone feel snappier' after these firmware releases. Well, I'd just like to note that you're doing a full OS reinstall and sync/powerdown/powerup when you update your phone. So you probably do feel that things are faster, but they would probably feel that way if you restarted your phone's OS every day or so. All of these Apps doing weird things to our phones that can cause sluggishness. A reboot fixes a lot of that.

Just saying...

PS
Quote of the day on that 'bozos' post...epic

My 3G reception is worse than it was prior to the update. I now have to set it to Edge to get any reception at home, whereas I had good 3G reception with 2.01.

Backing up is so much faster... you don't even have to time it, you can SEE it on the bar in iTunes!

Not noticed any other significant differences, but I haven't had any problems yet. Apart from MobileMe not syncing greatly, but that's another matter!

You attempted to switch from 3G to edge while on a call? If you attempt to do this your call will get dropped every time. I could be wrong but I don't think you can switch from 3G to edge and vice versa while on a call. Seems like I remember reading that somewhere.
