A flip-style makes less sense as it's less useful. Some people will continue to prefer slab phones.
Look at the designs basically the external screen is gonna be in the range of looking like a mini. It’s not big compared to like a pro which some people prefer. Also, the camera bump is never going away with any phone anytime soon, although it would be nice.I’d buy an unfolding iPhone Mini if its total folded thickness were no thicker than the current Pro phones minus a camera bump.
I guess I’ll embrace my “boomer” or “millennial” status and continue enjoying my good old slab-style phones. Now get off my lawn.
Steve Jobs....if the price is reasonable then it is possible
Well, I wish Apple good luck in whatever they do. I am not going to be there customer for a folding phone. I just wish they would get dictation in Safari fixed so that it was reliable and stopped rewriting what I write. I don’t need screen size as much as I need better data entry.
It will be called “iBook”.When they launch their foldable, they should bite the bullet and launch the consumer and prosumer models at the same time.
Apple Fold (5.5-inch to 7.8-inch)
Apple Fold Ultra/Pro (sil-car battery, improved chip, better cameras, larger size)
Why shouldn't they be called "iPhone"? Because closed it's an iPhone, and open it's an iPad.
This is exactly where I am on this. I don’t need anything bigger/thicker/heavier to carry around. Already, I am avoiding the iPhone Pro and Pro Max. A rugged iPhone Flip with great battery life would get my interest, though.I don't personally see myself getting on this train. I don't need or want to carry more screen with me. Might be interesting a flip-style foldable, though.
Boo this person.Again, who is asking for this device. The Air was supposedly “asked for” and look how that’s gone.
Apple should make a 5.7-inch iPhone in my opinion. Not under any marketing sub-name (not “mini”), just “iPhone” in three sizes, and “iPhone Ultra” with silicon carbon battery in the same three sizes. This gives people two choices in that sensible smaller size. Get rid of the “e” model. And give the iPhone Air (premium device) silicon carbon and offer it as 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch (not 6.5-inch), the same sizes as the two larger iPhone sizes. It's smaller in the pocket. That's all I want.
After playing with a Motorola Razr at the Spectrum store, I almost ditched my iPhone for it. Reviews didn't make it look very reliable, though.
But a flip-style phone is much more pocketable and not everyone requires high levels of productivity in a phone. So you’re really talking about your own needs and interests. But, yes, many people will stick with slab phones - especially if that form factor remains the least expensive.A flip-style makes less sense as it's less useful. Some people will continue to prefer slab phones.
What are you doing with your phone to the point where you are worried about the screen being damaged by fingernails? I've owned 9 foldables and 2 flips, and I've never had so much as a hairline scratch on any of the displays, and I even remove the screen protector on the inner display on day one. Also, I've never had any damage due to dust either. I suppose some might work in dusty environments, but the foldables of today are fairly dust resistant.Won't buy any phone where the screen gets damaged by dust and fingernails.

+1, and I preferred bar phones over flip phones in the dumb phone days so I was at least consistent lolI guess I’ll embrace my “boomer” or “millennial” status and continue enjoying my good old slab-style phones. Now get off my lawn.
