I wish they wouldn’t bother with this, it’s such a silly form. Of the people I’ve seen using these in public, most have them folded (cool, you’re holding two phones) and one was watching a movie, on a square, with a crease in the middle. Truly dumb!
Well, the concept is not dumb. Just the existing technology is. These products shouldn't be made yet. A foldable that does not compromise on features to achieve folding isn't possible yet, so in my opinion, they shouldn't exist.

Some people are saying this will flop if priced at $2400 and they cite the vision pro high price as an example. But I disagree. The vision pro is a completely niche product with limited use cases. People will hand over $2400 for a foldable iPhone. I am certain of it. I am not one of those people, but I suspect many will.
Agreed. Also remember that the phone carriers will offer financing for these phones and consumers won't have to hand over $2400 all at once to get one. People have proven to be willing to by expensive items if the cost can be broken up into payments. With the Vision Pro, it's a more niche product with questionable usefulness and requires a very high upfront payment.

I still don't believe that Apple will make a foldable device...I just don't see the market. I've never seen a foldable, of any kind, in the wild. Which means the market is Niche. Apple likes to sell to the masses, unless it's deemed an experimental product, like Vision Pro (not a mass market appeal).

I could always be wrong, but I just don't see it happening....

But a flip-style phone is much more pocketable and not everyone requires high levels of productivity in a phone. So you’re really talking about your own needs and interests. But, yes, many people will stick with slab phones - especially if that form factor remains the least expensive.
I'm not talking about my own needs. I don't want a foldable.

While I don't see this product for me, I am glad it is something Apple is going to make. I just hope they continue the iPad mini line, for those of us who want a dedicated iPadOS device that fits into the current mini form factor.

the foldable market never actually took off.

apple should bring something totally new to actually make it work.

and a good OS is key.

If Samsung failed to buy my attention after SEVEN generations, why Apple and their market analysts think they can make me buy same thing but with :apple: logo?

Maybe I am old-fashioned by today’s standards but I don’t think phone should become a foldable tablet or laptop. A phone should be pocketable, small like mini iPhones, so it can be taken anywhere. Most modern iPhones need literal SOCKS to be taken with you, pockets no longer work.

What can be so different from what Samsung already offers? It will have same crease, I doubt they can hide Face ID without sacrificing it, they even buy displays from Samsung for this device, so obviously they would rely on the literal same tech with plastic screen. No more glass feeling, moving parts, half of the previous dust and water resistance, just for a fashion statement?

I doubt this is the future and might be yet another failure, just like iPhone Air, maybe slightly more popular

There are always a few people on this site that say they want a foldable phone. Are there really that many people out there that still use tablets/ipads at home? I thought they were pretty much dying out so I'm surprised that anybody would be interested in this.

All my nephews and niece use iPads at home due to school. I don't even think they know the concept of an explorer on a computer or how to install "programs" 😭
