You’re merely projecting assumptions, and if you followed Apple at all lately in the news, then you’d know the future is AR glasses, not a foldable display. Can Apple implement a foldable display? Sure. Are they going to release a foldable display in the future? I highly doubt it. It doesn’t solve any problems and it doesn’t answer any questions, it’s a device that is superfluous. There’s barely a market right now for a foldable display at the price even Samsung has . Can you imagine what Apple would charge for a folding display? It wouldn’t be affordable or obtainable, given smart phones already are plateauing at $1000 where it’s not attractive.

A foldable display is _not_ going to please the shareholders, what will is devices like the Apple Watch being the future of health features, AR glasses, AirPods, those products are crushing the market.
You disagree by providing your own arguments and drawing a different conclusion/assumption. That is all we can do now.

Cool, lets see how it plays out.

Foldable iPhone may be coming in a couple of years Apple letting Samsung. LG and Motorola test the waters for popularity
Also keep in mind that if it gets here price tag will be at least 1500
Hopefully we see it and it’s really terrific

Of course apple will join in.

Eventually they will all fold to the consumer demands and the future.

I agree with you. Apple will make a folding phone of some sort in the next 2 maybe 3 years. They don't want to be perceived as not having current tech products. But Apple has been very slow in the past to adopt news things.

Samsung has a folding phone...Huawei has one. The folding Razer was just announced. Then Microsoft has a folding phone/tablet already announced to be released in the spring.

Apple will take their time but at some point they will release a folding product.

In Fairness, I didn’t necessarily disagree, I countered you with exactly where Apples focuses at this current time, which is not a foldable display. They did have a patent at one point, but patents doesn’t mean a product will ever come to fruitition.

But back to your original argument, you were talking about how companies tend to ‘follow’ each other, Apple probably is the one company that keeps itself a separate entity doing things their own way, competition is a good thing, and I don’t think foldable displays are competitive at _any_ segment given at any point right now in the smart phone market. Not at the prices that they’re offering like Samsung, consumers cannot afford the inflated prices with a foldable display.

If Apple releases a foldable display, you can guarantee it will be north probably of $2000, which will push about 90% of any Consumers that relatively would be able to afford something like that. It’s a very niche market, not a widespread demographic in terms of what a smart phone is today.

I can not help but feel like you are a highly complicated individual or a politician in learning. You tell me you do not ‘necessarily’ disagree with me but the wording of your posts tell me “yeah no chance mate, because look at all these arguments... ”.

No need to cover all the options, if you’re wrong I probably will have forgotten about this back and forth by then. ;)

Pretty much. Save your monies for it!

It’s called discussion, there’s nothing wrong with having discourse with another forum member, which is to provoke thought _and_ critical thinking. To be honest, you’ve only really replied with post(s) that really aren’t offering much substance and I feel you’re just out of reality on a lot of where tech is currently. I tried engaging with you about the future a foldable smart phone, you’ve replied with semantics and comments that generally don’t show any type of acknowledgment of where Apple is today, your whole argument was companies ‘tend to follow other companies’, which is true to an extent, but that doesn’t mean Apple is on the verge of producing anything foldable related, not when smart phones/inflated prices have stumped consumers. I’ll say it again, a foldable display is not the answer or future for smart phones, we reached a maturation process, and Apple clearly knows there’s no need to release anything of that value at this point, let alone if it’s even possible in their future.

Also, it’s about the shareholders, at the end of the day, it’s about pleasing the shareholders with products that I already mentioned with the AirPods/Apple Watch/iPad, etc. Those are the things that Apple will continue to refine. Next up: AR Glasses.

Actually, when I wrote the post I was not looking for a ‘highly intellectual’ wall of text vs wall of text discussion that you were pumped up for. But a little bit of prodding (was it the “politician in learning” thing?) seems to bring out some pompeousness , stubborn belief in your own flow of thought so I can see where an ‘intellectual’ discussion with you will go.

So uh, are you agreeing with me or not? Or is this not smart enough for you?

<Snipped the semantics>...😁

All my points are bolstered with good arguments about pricing, inflation, shareholders, is there a market for a foldable smart phone, etc., etc. the list goes on.

So what’s my point? You brought up that companies ‘tend to follow other companies’, which in fact they do, but that doesn’t mean that there’s a market for a foldable smart phone from Apple, I’ve mentioned the word shareholders multiple times, if you follow Apple at all, that’s what it’s about in the endgame. _The shareholders_. A foldable smart phone is not the answer this market needs right now given iPhone decline in sales, smart phones in general have plateaued.

Blabla... All good and well but are you agreeing or disagreeing with my initial prediction? Since you did say you are not necessarily disagreeing with me.

I am genuinely fascinated now to the point I have put things aside for this haha.

Even if I could afford it, there is no way I am paying a monthly payment almost equal to TWO users' monthly plan payment. I am curious when the bubble will burst for Apple on their gradual increases every year. I was pondering about a Mac until they went crazy and outpriced me.

What do you guys think of this concept. And would you pay atleast $2000 for it knowing Apple price structure if they came up with something similar.

giphy.gif

I’d pay extra for one of those because it would be a phone and iPad all in one which would save you money. Not sure how they’d come up with a good case for that...
