@jclo-- just a side note, the eufy iPad app also runs "natively" in MacOS, if you hadn't discovered.

Does anyone know if this is limited to a single window on the Mac or can you have multiple Mac window instances of your phone open? In other words, is there a New Window option in the Mac menu bar for the iPhone Mirroring app?

This is bad wording on my part. Your iPhone doesn't need to be like on your person, but it does need to be nearby. Like in the same room. I'm going to update that.

darn, that could have opened up some crazy possibilities!

I wonder if it relies on BT, and if not, could the traffic be tunneled?

I’d like to know when you can mirror a mac on an ipad. All the software I have that is supposed to do this either used to work and no longer does or just never worked.

For newbies — there’s no information in this long article describing what iPhone mirroring actually is.

Sorry, I thought the up front part was enough explanation. It basically just lets you control your iPhone with your Mac. I added more info to the first paragraph, let me know if that's clearer.

You need to have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, so there definitely seems to be Bluetooth involvement. It works fine if my iPhone is in the same room, but if I go a couple rooms away, I get some serious lag. Bluetooth is likely the limiting factor there.

I don't plan on ever owning a smartphone of any kind.
Leaving the house is my only disconnect from technology.
That said, using my iPad on Apple TV makes more sense.
(I do want to see the rest of your tabby Juli.)
Gents, get your minds out of the gutter.

He's a big fan of Macs. Been using them since he was a baby.

I get how this could be interesting for developers (I think).
But for the average user, what function does this serve? It's a genuine question, I'm not tryin to attack anyone who finds it useful.

I just can't think of a use case - primarily because my phone is never particularly far away and I'd find it easier to just use it directly.

It allows you without having to worry about the screen locking to always see your iPhone desktop for many common usages. Such as a Messages showing FOB pin to log into a secure site. You could hear all your voice mail on the Mac without picking up the iPhone. Seeing your email on the iPhone desktop and not have the much larger MacOS mail app for specific text content. It's like a super widget in some ways. Play Music on iPhone which plays on Mac for sound output.

I would use it if the screen was broken and would need to recover something.

Thanks, you two :)
That makes sense and I'm glad I asked. They may not be use cases for me, but now I can see how it would be useful for others.

lol @ Dan opening iPhone mirroring to type a note on his phone.

…notes app in doc below.

(I know, I know, it was for demonstration purposes—still made me laugh)

There should be an option to enable the bezels. Jeez Apple, just take the ones you put in Xcode.
