I don't really hate iOS notifications that much.
Reason being is because the only notification I get is mainly text messages. I turn off all other notifications.

I switched from Android to iOS and it seems that I'm one of the exceptions being that I actualjly PREFER the way iOS handles notifications over Android!

Hard to believe that a lot of people on Android download 3rd party text messaging apps because they WANT the notification/text to wake the phone and pop up on the screen...

I like it...But seeing as how the majority doesn't, I'm sure this is something that will go away in future iOS itierations.

How about leaving it as an OPTION rather than taking it away altogether?

Also, if you get more than one notification at a time or in quick succession the first notification gets covered up.

And, if you have a bunch of notifications waiting, you have to deal with all of them before you can use the phone again.

As everyone else has said, it's a downright stupid, horrible, idiotic, and lazy design. I have been hoping for an overhaul year after year - maybe this year will be different.

You can keep dreaming.

The notification were late and piss poor on day one. Now several years later they are still that way. Apple is not going to change it because it would require them admitting that they screwed up and notification were done better on dumb phones from years before.

I'd be inclined to believe you, except that your prediction doesn't explain why Apple recently (as of last June) poached the architect of Palm's notification system, Rich Dellinger.

I fully expect to see a near fundamental overhalf of the notification system. The only question is whether we'll see that overhaul this July or not.

Without jailbreaking, is there a way to disable the pop up?

What if I download a messaging app?

We'll see in a few months how this all pans out. Okay? :)

Yes, you can disable it.

No - they will change it.
