Well the speed tests I posted above were with MMS settings correct and they had same speed as normal At&t iPhone. I'll try it without correct MMS settings soon but doubt it will make a difference.

That's what I thought but I had seen a few threads suggesting it. Will be be interesting to see results just to disprove the theory really.

I know a lot of people who use an AT&T mvno on their iPhone. But recently, h2o went down the drain, downgrading their $60 plan to only 1GB of data a month. I switched to Red Pocket which has 2GB data/month (along with unlimited talk&txt) for $60. I ported my number from h2o to red pocket and I'm very satisfied with the service. No unlock needed :). Very affordable + you get that AT&T 3G. Heres a quick video I make talking more about it and showing a speed test:

Do you use an AT&T MVNO on your iPhone?

i actually ended up ordering 2 sim cards from amazon ($2.89/each w/prime shipping). My wifes h2o account expires on the 19th so i will set her up with Red Pocket and when mine expires beginning of February i will do the same. Glad to see people are having positive experience. I noticed h2o changes their plans constantly.

If I wasn't locked into a two-year contract, I would hop over to RedPocket. Those 3G speeds in Miami seem great. Should be about the same in Tampa.

Looking at the AT&T coverage map in Florida GoPhone (Red Pocket I guess as well) and the contract coverage is exactly the same. Is this because AT&T don't roam in Florida? Do you tend to always have 3G as well?

I've never roamed on AT&T in Florida, and I've had them for almost 3 years now. I have 3G 99% of the time, unless I'm at work where it switches to Edge.

AT&T covers Florida really well. I always have 3G service, and it's pretty fast too. Orlando, Miami, Tampa, St. Augustine ... you name it .. there is fast 3G.

Anyways, I'd use Red Pocket but it's more economical for me to stick with AT&T. Glad to see there is an alternative though - and one that does not required an unlocked device.

So I'm looking at this I don't like being on-contract and I'm a T-Mo user with an iPhone. I also saw the rate hike today for new AT&T customers.

What do people think of the service so far?

Out of interest, What does it say under network in general and about on the iPhone? Does it show the network as AT&T and the line as Red Pocket like MVNOs in the UK?

Did you ever have a chance to test this?

In the Status Bar is says Red Pocket and in the network field (setting, general, about) it says Red Pocket.

While getting 159ms ping, 1.46 mbps down, and .36 up in a crappy area with correct MMS settings. I got 166ms ping, 1.42 mbps down, and .32 up with standard att iPhone settings. So basically: no it doesn't make a difference if you have them

Me and my wife are on H2O for about 4 months now. The data speeds are really bad over the last few months so I bought 2x red pocket sims off ebay. Will switch them once our current months run out and will post back if I notice any diff.

i have h2o but the data from 2mb from 1 are bad i but red pockets sims to try it when g2o expires on the 19 of the month

If your Verizon or Sprint phone is factory unlocked (not just unlocked for global traveling), then this will work. My friend is actually canceling his Sprint contract (Slow speeds) on his 4s soon and switching to red pocket after he discovered that his sprint iPhone 4s came factory unlocked.

I think you are confused.
There is no such thing as factory unlocked CDMA iphones.
Only Sprint or verizon GSM side unlocked for global traveling.
Are you positive this will work in the US with CDMA iphones? Since its using AT&T towers I doubt an unlocked CDMA iphone will work inside the US.

They are still world phones and some of the phones bought from Apple were factory unlocked to start with.

My 4S is factory unlocked. Can I just pop the Red Pocket SIM in without changing any carrier settings?

No. You need to go to unlockit and install the data APN but thats it if you don't care about MMS.

Since you're from England I don't think you understand how CDMA locked iPhones sold in the US work.

I think I do. Just because I'm from the UK doesn't mean I don't work in the US 6 months of the US a year. An iPhone 4S is a world phone is has CMDA and GSM technologies. (They both have a sim card slot even though Sprint and Verizon don't use sim) Some of the first batches of Sprint iPhones were sim unlocked, so any GSM sim can be put in it and used. Similar to the international unlock that anyone can do but T-Mobile USA and AT&T also work.

False.
Some of those unlocked CDMA iPhones are only unlocked for global gsm use. They won't work in the US with tmobile or AT&T sims.
Only outside the US with any gsm sim.

Quick question. I'm guessing I have to JB to use MMS? I have already. Another question, visual voicemail. Is it possible?

The thing that scares me is that MVNOs can fold over, overnight, and you would just lose your phone number. Look what happened to Amp'd Mobile, Helio, and the other MVNOs out there. The only MVNO that seems to have stuck around is Tracfone and Virgin Mobile.

Is Red Pocket Mobile stable, business wise?

Do you know if YouMail works on Red Pocket? It's a visual voicemail app on Cydia. I know it works on TMO.

YouMail is not only on Cydia, but the Apple app store as well, see for yourself :).

It is worth it for the "hangup" notification alone.
