Talking to ppl like this will get you nothing but blank stares or wise A$$ remarks. It has been beaten to death, but it doesn't look like Verizon would ever get the iPhone because Apple likes to have control over everything and Verizon has basically their own apps, services etc. Also CDMA is going away soon so everyone will be on GSM, then it will not matter because the iPhone is a GSM phone anyway.

Your only asking the same question we all ponder, but it looks like the iPhone will be with ATT a little more unless Apple is holding this news under their hat not to piss off ATT and get everyone's hopes up.

Again, there's a thing called saturation. Eventually, you'll reach a point where there's a huge number of people that want an iPhone but REFUSE to switch to AT&T. Additionally, you'll reach a point where it because less productive to sell to the same audience that you've been selling to before. It's just the same as it was with iPods, it's the same with the iPhone.

It's in Apple's best long term interest to sell to as many carriers as possible.

Realizing this and the fact that VZW is the largest wireless carrier in the U.S., it's pretty much an eventuality. Maybe not 2010, 2011, or even 2012, but eventually it will happen.

If you really believe that this will *never* happen, then I guess we have nothing more to say to each other.

Hey... we are on a Apple fan site, so it would happen eventually! LOL!!!

Lol yeah, i used to want the iPhone to stay on AT&T but after the whole MMS stunt I couldn't care less what carrier its on as long as I have it:D

Wow dude, you go around on these forums answering people like that?? Why are some people so rude on here? The dude is just asking a question, chill

AT&T is absolutely terrible. I came over from Verizon and there coverage sucks. I even like in Pittsburgh where there is supposably, good coverage. There is soooo many more people on Verizon in the US than ATT. That says something itself, idc what type of people are there, but the fact is, is that there is most of the US on verizon. It surprises me too because Apple always wants the best of the best....

Sorry if this is rude, I suppose I could ask the OP "Wow dude, you go around these forums posting questions like this? Why are some people so dumb on here?" A quick forum search would bring up countless Verizon posts. Certainly a reasonable person would assume that at this point in time, they are not the first to think of this.

As for AT&T, I don't find it terrible at all. I switched from Sprint in 2006 and haven't looked back. They've been leaps and bounds better than Sprint. I'm in NYC so YMMV.

Actually, there aren't "soooo" many more on Verizon, 86.6million to AT&T's 78.2million. So most of the US is not on Verizon as 86.6/330 is only ~ 26% of the US.

Since GSM is a worldwide standard, I suppose Apple picked the best technology giving them a huge base to sell devices to worldwide. :)

If I don't hear anything that it is coming at the end of 2009 that it is announced for verizon in 2010 I might just switch to AT&T and get it. IDK we'll see!

If Apple would let us Multi-task and run apps in the background, I would so drop AT&T and use my iPhone with the Verizon mifi.

The mifi is a business card sized pocket wifi hotspot that runs on Verizon and Sprint, and if I could run Skype in the background all the time, it would totally eliminate the need for a voice plan, since you can run Skype on wifi just fine.

True you can run apps in the background with the jailbreak, but not with any reliability. That may be different with the 3GS though with the extra RAM.

Unfortunately the point is largely moot if I get the 3GS since I'll be tied to AT&T contract forever.

Again, this person started a new thread asking a WELL DOCUMENTED question, and then when the first reply simply suggested they search, the OP said that was too much work for them. Then I reply WITH THE SEARCH, and now you call ME rude. Really? REALLY?

Yes, I'm so sorry for showing the OP a link to the SEARCH RESULTS FOR WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR!!! Damn people, this isn't rocket science. The search is there for a reason. Use it. But, who am I kidding. People will continue to start new threads on OLD topics until the end of time.

Apple will never make a CDMA iPhone.

AT&T and Verizon are both going to use LTE.

When LTE networks exist, an LTE iPhone will exist.

This means that the LTE iPhone will be unlockable from AT&T for use on Verizon.

End of story, end of thread.

True, but LTE in theory should make it far more easier for phone manufacturers. This is one of the many reasons (besides the obvious speed increases) why phone manufacturers are excited by LTE.

If you doubt that Apple won't be on VZW eventually, then I don't know what to say. It will happen. It's just a matter of time.

Maybe in like, 10 years, which by that time, Verizon will have phased out CDMA in it's entirety and will be using LTE + LTE's successor.

But I just don't see it happening in the short term unless Verizon, like Bell or Telus (I can't remember which) is building out an HSPDA network in addition to an LTE one.

You still don't explain the fact that Apple would have to support the CDMA legacy networks, which would be even more pointless for Apple once Verizon is using LTE because by then, the CDMA networks will be entirely legacy networks. Theoretically, it may be possible for an LTE iPhone to run unlocked on Verizon's LTE network, but it would only work when there's LTE coverage and would likely in no way be an official method.

Then again, if there's anything about Apple, it's that it's unpredictable, as we've seen this week. I still however see it as highly unlikely in the near future.
