I really do not see what is so bad about the OS itself. Why would there be over 600 negative ratings??? AT&T will be delivering those services. People just have to be patient and you should be fortunate that you will be able to get this service at all! I'm really looking forward to this update! I take it that it will not be released til June 18th in Australia, NZ and east Asia...

For those of you that don't already know, the GM (or final release) version of 3.0 was leaked in the torrents. If you don't want to wait you can easily download it through torrents and install it on your phone. It's the exact same one that will be released next Wed.

I did this and it was a big mistake. I can't downgrade back to 2.2.1. I tried it and the update works fine, but there are some features that do not work (a2dp). I have tried everything possible to downgrade with no success. I am hoping on wednesday I will be able to upgrade to final 3.0.

Does anybody out there know if I will have problems updating on Wednesday?

And this is why AT&T is the worst choice Apple could have gone with. They are back in the Stone Age with their pricing, and they can't get anything right. I'm deaf and they won't even offer me a plan with no minutes. I HAVE to pay for minutes that I'm not ever going to use. T-Mobile works with us and I was very happy with my Sidekick. Bottom line is, iPhone is too advanced to be with a crappy carrier like AT&T that is so far behind in the competition. My dad (who travels a lot) says that AT&T drops way more calls even than Verizon. I really hope AT&T either smartens up or goes out of business, leaving the iPhone available to a more advanced carrier like... T-Mobile??

Are you referring to the same T-Mobile who has yet to roll out a viable 3G network? The same company that has to have specialized phones made due to the non-standard frequencies they need for 3G service in the US?
Good customer service, but lousy phone selection and 3G service.
I can see the need for a hearing impaired service contract, but T-Mobile is the only US carrier that sells a text only device.

The rest is all in where you live.
In Phx, Verizon absolutely blows. You couldn't give me a Verizon phone.
As for pricing, I see no difference between AT&T and Verizon or even T-Mobile for that matter.
They all screw you one way or another.
At least with AT&T I get to roll over the minutes I paid for if I don't use them all.

ok, so i got it to install and i love the landscape keyboard during texting, but no at&t mms support yet? and no iphone to mac tethering through at&t? isn't at&t the only carrier? why the delay? am i missing something? copy and paste is a nice addition. still bummed with the update. i expected more

Of course it doesn't work. Only the 3G S can take the video, voice control, and has a compass. That won't change. The 3G doesn't even have a magnetometer in it.
