The iPads are probable the unreleased ones but there will be second gen ones early next year or so. It'll have the camera that was pulled from this one die to the software conflict.

I don't think it's likely they will come out with a new iPad soon, considering it's only been out for 2 days..

All I have to say is the next iPod Touch and iPad BETTER HAVE BUILT-IN GPS!!!

It's unbelievable the just-released iPad does not have GPS. There are so many way-to-cool applications for GPS, and no, the wifi/cell tower triangulation garbage will not suffice.

Umm ... doesn't the iPad have GPS?

I predict an updated CPU in the new iPhone this June/July and the iPad will get a CPU bump at the same time.

Cheers.

Actually, this does not surprises me. Either iProd will be a completely new product or it will be a first revision (not just 3G). They did not safe up this much money and computing power for just the iPad. But the hype helped keeping the real breakthrough secret. Remember the bold risks SJ wants to take? Everybody wondering what the killer-app for the iPad is will gasp as soon as this thing is released.

What could it be? iBlackboard (huge touch screen to put on a wall), iMirror (imagine checking your emails while brushing teeth), iTicket (one id card to rule them all), iBox (you know, with an i instead of an x), ...

Ideas not to be taken too seriously.

There's no way they would update the iPad within 2 quarters. They would be the stupidest company to do so. This is just referring to their 3G model. The iPhone will most likely come out earlier than expected due to high demand and competition from other phones.

Is this update coming to the actual iPhone?
Nope, no other device will run iPhone OS 3.2, just the iPad. I thought Steve mentioned this back in January.

It is likely that all three devices (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad) will return to the same version of the OS with 4.0. It is likely that Apple had to fork a separate 3.2 branch just to get iPad running for launch.

More!

iPhone OS 4.0 will be a unifying build, a major revision.
Who knows they might even re-badge it in some way because it's under the bonnet of 3 different devices...

I think iGuide will appear later in the year also.... and not to mention the iSlate.
Notice that there was a patentlyapple.com note about their activities with this name...

If iGuide is anything key then I am hoping it will be what I expect... the ultimate tourist and travel utility to sit inside a juicy iPad or iSlate...

Why would any AT&T iPhone customer really have an issue with another mobile operator picking up the iPhone? It would simply encourage competition and most likely lower prices for cellular service.

Plus, I don't know how many "AT&T fanboys" actually exist. The two biggest gripes of iPhone users are AT&T's network and the battery performance.

They don't. At least, not here in the United States.

If you look at the last Consumer Reports cellular operator survey, the respondents basically said they all sucked, but Verizon sucked slightly less (just barely above the threshold of statistical significance). That means that Verizon is a 37" giant in a kingdom of three-foot midgets.

Great analogy. Very true.

I wonder when we'll get this for the actual iPhone. I'm getting shi##y about this.

OK, self correction. 4.0 coming soon which means I have to pay for it. Still shi##y about it.
To my knowledge, Apple has never charged iPhone customers for a software upgrade. They have charged iPod touch users for the major software upgrades.

We're still a couple months off from when the new iPhone OS would be released to the public, so I really wouldn't worry about it right now.
