It's a way of pushing crap to end users & burning bandwidth. I realise that the usual justification of adding a revenue stream to support developers will be rolled out. But it doesn't mean I have to like it.

It's quite simple. If you don't want adverts, don't be cheap and pay for apps. Many people are happy to put up with ads if they get something for free. Personally that doesn't appeal, but it does to many many people, which is why this is a feature, not something to complain about.

If you pay for an app and find ads in it, then you can feel justified in complaining vociferously, until then, please stop complaining.

So the iPod touch 2G won't be able to do multitasking (understandable), Bluetooth keyboards (understandable, different Bluetooth spec?), but no custom wallpaper. The custom wallpaper was the one feature that I was looking forward to on my iPod touch 2G. There is no way this is a hardware dependent feature. It's more like a feature Apple wants to leave out to get folks to upgrade to an iPod touch 3G or newer. Lame.

yes, but people should want to upgrade to the new iphone. it's so shiny...

Sarbanes-Oxley my ass

For years when I (or others) complained that Apple charged for iPhone OS (now iOS) minor upgrades, a lot of people shot back the now trite response that Apple had no choice but due to Sarbanes-Oxley act (something to do with accounting) that they HAD to charge for these upgrades in order to be in accord with the accounting rules.

I've always maintained that Sarbanes-Oxley act had nothing to do with whether Apple had to charge for OS upgrades or not. It was their call to make whether to charge or not. People would shoot back and point yet again to Sarbanes-Oxley blah blah blah. Well, obviously we can see now that Sarbanes-Oxley has nothing to do with charging for iOS upgrades because iOS 4.0 will be given FREE for previous iPad/iPod/iPhones.

So, Sarbanes-Oxley my ass. Apple's iPhone OS upgrade charges in the past had NOTHING to do with that act.

Umm, you do realize the accounting rules has been updated recently before this right? The new rules now allow Apple to release the upgrade for free, this was not true before.

Ladies and Gentleman I now present to you OS 10.7.

iOS is the future of Apple. Sad but true.
Am I the only one who noticed the conspicuous absence of any talk of Apple's laptops, desktops or OS X at all?

i Could Place more quotes but what you all seem to forget is that Apple Makes money out of Mac:apple:. Their not going to kill off OSX and to think that you've either not read enough about iOS or you've never used ifile on an jailbroken iPhone/iPod, then what you might not have noticed is that iOS is OSX. It's just modified to run on ipod.
You do realize that iOS is based on OS X right? It's just OS X with a different interface that's tuned specifically for iPhone/iPad's touchscreen? Just like Mac OS X is tuned specifically for the desktop/laptop use?
Yes i Now you've already said this in a way but i just want to reiterate it.

heyy now dats not kool enough 4 ipod touch 2nd gen owners..i mean apple should really do something...we guyz wont get multitasking fyn...v dont mind....its kool..but the custom walpapers on the home screen should hav added...i was much xcited about that...n guess what...v guyz r not gettin it....common now apple june 21st is still far away...do something 4 uys!!!!plzzzzz
To you i say custom wallpaper i understand, your annoying slurred text i don't and multitasking wouldn't run smoothly on a 2G ipod touch. Apple makes products that don't have the capacity to crash very easily giving 2G multitasking would make many complaints cause people would crash their ipods many times.

Time for Download of OS 4.) iPhone

Can anybody please tell me what time I can start downloading the iPhone OS 4.0 ? I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada and my time zone is Eastern Standard Time. Not sure if it will be midnight Pacific Time for download or midnight Eastern Standard Time. I am assuming that I will have to download through iTunes 9.2 or can I go directly to the app store from my iphone?

Thanks for the help

You'll have to download through iTunes 9.2 (or get a direct link to it from somebody here on MR) and it is likely to be out midday EST, around 2PM-8PM EST.
