Are you getting an Apple Watch?

I voted "undecided"

Depends on the price and battery life. If it's below $500 (like closer to $450) for the stainless steel and the battery can make it over 24 hrs, then likely.

Not likely.

Just bought a Pebble for $79. No, I'm sure the Apple Watch will be better in a lot of ways, but the Pebble does what it needs to do, doesn't look too ugly, and has a great battery life.

I said undecided because we don't have a final product yet. I am leaning against getting one in the first gen, though. The first gen products like the iPad and Touch have usually been a lot less useful than Gen 2. However, I will wait and see what they actually release.

i guess my biggest reason for NOT getting the iwatch would have to be it doesn't do anything like text, email, phone calls without the iphone near it. and the screen is just too small for reading text and emails. and since i already have the gear solo that can do pretty much everything my phone can do like text, email and phone calls without my phone being near me or even on me. with my gear solo i feel like a true life dick tracy. now if i get the iwatch i will just fill like a dick without the tracy which has me thinking why the HELL would i want to go backwards?:D

Probably not but may bite the bullet later on down the road. As of right now there's no clear cut as to what expectations we should have regarding this iWatch. Software bugs, lack of battery life, all the headaches that accompany a rollout of this magnitude, add to that the price $$$$ and I'll probably take a backseat to this fiasco until the dust settles, whenever that is. Ballsy move by Apple that's for sure, but only time will tell how this will play out.

Naaahhhh. I dont want one because I don't normally wear a watch, and I don't want to start wearing a watch just so I can show off how fancy I am cause I have a watch---- made by apple.

Nope, I'll continue just using my phone.

I voted undecided. I love watches, but not necessarily smart watches (I think they are two completely separate items). You wear an Apple watch on your wrist, but to me, its more of an iPhone accessory. Traditional watch enthusiasts tend to have a passion for timeless history and engineering, as apposed to software. Again, I might buy one b/c I also love tech; but not b/c I love watches... if that makes any sense. :)

Undecided. I almost never wear watches, but I would wear one for the HRM/activity tracking feature instead of using a Fitbit, Polar HRM or whatever. Being able to see messages/calls etc. without having to pick the phone up or take it out of my pocket would be convenient. I don't see where a lot of other apps are practical on a screen that size, though. Maps, mail, calendar and a lot of others would be basically useless on a tiny watch screen.

Some have listed it as a disadvantage that you have to have a phone nearby to use it. To me, that's a big plus because if they built a cellular radio into it and made it an independent device, it would be one more device that would have to be added to a cellular plan and entail monthly connect charges (not to mention it would be bulbously huge on your wrist). If Apple had done that, I'd definitely be 100% on the 'no' side because I'm not buying the watch, then paying another $15-25 monthly for it to do what my phone already does - especially since I almost always have my phone with (or near) me anyway.

I'd also like to know more about the water resistance/proof specs - or lack thereof. If it can't get wet, I'm out. All in all, there are still too many unknowns (price, specs, etc.) for me to make a decision yet.

That's a definite no for me in the first gen. Just doesn't do anything that would justify the costs for me. I might get one down the road if it can ever do more.

No

I have a nice old iPhone.

I'll not want an Apple Watch. The software might become good (it's too soon to say) but then there'll be the risk of Apple doing something ridiculous to the software.

Until a few months ago I planned to get a more modern iPhone. That plan was scrapped when I lost confidence in Apple software.

If I'm to buy into a technology ecosystem, that system must be first class.

Optimism

Results of the poll at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1802409/ might suggest that voters in these forums are more optimistic, about Apple products, than voters at large; the results at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1818418/ are too few to support that notion.

If they do a sport type yes. If not then no. What's the point if you can't wear it at the gym to keep track of your vitals?

All this clamour for big screens and now a tiny watch. I always associated digital watches with kids. My tastes are for expensive diving watches, to me a watch is jewellery for a man. Not some computer on his wrist and when he or she has a far more powerful mini computer in their pocket, just what is the point? People are considering the price but a cheap looking watch is never a good idea. If it was cheap looking *and* pointless I would have even more reservations!

I can't wait for it. Space black stainless steel band and casing, 42 mm! Hoping for a $500-$550 price point for it, but we will have to see!
