Use my touch everyday to listen to podcasts or music in car and also use a lot with apple tv to play music or mirror

I got an extra 8GB iPod touch and I'm not sure its worth the trouble to sell it so I'm trying to see what I can use it for. I got both an iPhone and an iPad.

Those of you who have iPhones or even Android phones, What do you use your iPod touch for? I won't make this a poll. Its just a thread, so drop your opinion. I'll read all of em. Heck, maybe even suggestions on how to sell it that isn't a huge hassle.

iPod touch and Android phone is easy: Both are smartphone platforms in smartphone form factors. But both are different. There are definitely apps unique to each and by having both you can run just about any app. This said, Apple totally has Google beat when it comes to media playback. That being said, I have an iPod touch and an Android phone and my iPod touch, in addition to having a crap-ton of apps, is also used as a standard iPod wherein I, y'know, playback music. Also, it's sorta nice to have a back-up device for when your phone inevitably runs out of power.

iPod touch and iPhone is a bit trickier to justify as it's the same platform and, especially nowadays, the iPhone (A5 Processor on the 4S, A6 Processor on the 5/5C, A7 Processor on the 5S) is more likely to be faster under the hood than the iPod touch (A5 Processor). Given that, keep only system intensive apps on the iPhone and store all others on the iPod touch.

Though given your case; the iPod touch doesn't have that much space; and if it's 8GB, it's either a 1st Gen, a 2nd Gen, or a 4th Gen, in which case it's pretty much only good as an oversized iPod nano...unless it's a 4th Gen in which case you can do any number of things on it that would likely be inconvenient to have on your phone.

I have a 64GB unlocked iPhone 5s, so I really have no need to have an iPod touch, most of my music and about ⅓ of my apps fit on my iPhone so I just gave my 64GB 5th Gen iPod touch to my 15 year old sister.

I have a full 32GB 4s, a full 8GB Gen2 Nano and an almost full 64GB Gen3 Touch. The Touch only has music. the 4s only has 3gb of music. I use the Nano at the gym and it stays in my gym bag. I listen to the 4s if I don't have my Touch with me. I use the Touch when I plan on listening to tunes, regardless of location (excluding the gym). TBH the Nano sounds the best when hooked up to my high falootin Klipsch headphones.

iPhone has ALL of my apps, everything, though it's only a sixteen gb. I stream music from spotify soI don't carry a music collection with me.

My iPod has all my music and my videos and films. It's my main media device and my phone normally around 20% when I come home from school, so I have facebook messenger installed, as I send most of my messages here. Also, I study using iTunes U, and that's on the iPod. The iPod normally lasts two days while my phone only lasts about 5 hours.

iPhone 5, 32 GB: Apps, Photos and about 400 MB of music.
iPad mini, 32 GB: Apps and about 400 MB of music.
iPod touch, 8 GB (older generation): rolling around in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. It's too old for current iOS so it's of no use to me right now.

The iPod Touch 5G (64GB) is my most used Apple device… at home! I use it to control my Mac Mini (Prompt, VLC Remote, iTunes, etc.) but also for watching old TV shows or reading in bed. Most of the time it is connected to my stereo for listening to podcasts and Howard Stern while working in my home office.

The rest of the iPod Touch is filled with music and sometimes I take it with me if mood for music strikes. Usually I am so back in podcasts that I just use the iPhone and leave the iPod at home.

We use an iPod Touch (and various other iPods) as music devices in our cars.

I sold mine on amazon when I got my iphone. Never really used it for much other than music....so there was no point in me keeping it. I wanted to sell it before the value dropped really low.

I only have an iPhone and don't see the need for carrying another iOS device around with me that is the same form factor (though I wish I had a larger capacity phone; 8GB is only just cutting it). If I were to get another device it would likely be a Nano or something small. I would have liked to get a 6th gen Nano and use it like a watch for when I go out walking so i don't have to take my phone, but will wait patiently and see what this iWatch might turn out to be.

I have a iphone 4S 16GB; purchased last year love it but not enough space. My 3 disc changer shelf system quit working but the speakers and stuff work fine so I purchased a used 8GB 6th gen Nano to put all my sleep cd's on. And last week I purchased a 64GB ipod Touch 5g. I've loaded all my music on it and a bunch of audio books that would never fit on my phone. I think I've got 11 or 12GB of music on it. I've downloaded a couple of apps. I plan on using it in the Jeep. I get tired of loading all my music onto it's hard drive.

I wanted something to put all my music on; a lot of my CD's are scratched from years of being pulled in and out of cd cases, holders, etc. I also have a 16gb rmini ipad that I love. I use that for mostly reading magazines and books on. But I only have messaging set up on my actual phone lol.

I plan on using my Iphone until probably next year when the 6S come out so 16GB isn't much when 13GB is already full.

well my iPhone is always out of battery when I need it the most. So I use my ipod to listen to music or watch movies. that way my phone's battery is saved and my iphone stays new ;)

That was very informative. Thank you. This shows more than any other comment in the forum the benefits of keeping older things.

Once I fix the 2nd gen Touch I have it will be used as a white noise machine for my son. He is 4 months old and it helps him sleep. We had been using my wife's iPhone, but then she can't use it while he is napping.

That's an interesting idea.

I only have one iPod Touch and I primarily use it on road trips or when I don't feel like carrying around an iPad or using my Android phone.. It's the old 4th generation model, so it isn't powerful, but I don't really run any games on it besides Sudoku. :p
